Hi all. I would like to know which mecha anime do you prefer and why?.

I'll kick things off

Gundam 00: the story is more beliveable and the characters get you hooked as you want to know more about them (this is done is a way where not everything is revealed about them in one go). The gundams, man Exia & Dynames rock!. So does Setsuna & Lockon . Seed/Destiny & Code Geass are okay.

As you may have guessed from my avatar, Code Geass is my favorite. Leoluch was just so ridiculously awesome. Plus Code Geass gave us Orange. Never forget Orange.

Also I can't believe you made a list of Mecha Anime and didn't list Gurren Lagann or Gaogaigar.

Code Geass. The point isn't the mecha anyway. More like I find the characters more endearing.

I love 00 the most, great characters and nice mecha. Code Geass a close second. It's just that the ending is not so good imo. Seed is good, but Destiny is horrible beyond words

I've seen Seed out of the series mentioned. Overall i felt that overall it's very deriative of the other Gundam series and it seems it was somewhat rushed.

The character design and mecha design also could've used some work. I've actually been impressed with what I've seen out of 00. The Gundams in 00, although they still retain the classic Gundam look have a much more streamlined look than Seed's, the mecha are more mechanical than the semi-UC mecha Seed uses and the character design is much more original and human-like than Seeds which is ultra-generic with spiky hair and big eyes.

About the only real innovation Seed brought to the franchise was the Gundams changing color (The phase shift) IMO. Everything else is pretty much lifted from elsewhere.

I love Gundam 00 season one. It's my favourite Gundam series so far, and I have seen most of the major ones now.

But I think SEED and Destiny held up better as a series overall. 00 sort of fell apart in season 2. A lot of the things I didn't particularly like in S2 I now recognize as Gundam tropes that had to be shoehorned in.

I've seen the first episode of Code Geass and wasn't particularly inclined to watch any farther. Maybe someday I'll give it a second chance.

Code Geass. The others' protags just aren't nearly as fascinating as Lelouch. If you're going to watch Seed, try to watch it before Geass, since the latter subverts the former.

I still think the first half of Season 1 was the best, after which things started going loopy. Incidentally, the first seasons for both Geass (http://www.youtube.com/show?p=_ibnU74o6y4&pl=299B5B111576139D) and Gundam 00 (http://www.youtube.com/show?p=AQRf-jhQt5I) are viewable legitimately on Youtube, in either subs or dubs.

I see it as kind of the opposite, actually. 00 was definitive in its storytelling from beginning to end. OTOH, SEED was sort of anti-climactic, and Destiny was just an absolute trainwreck from start to finish.

Seed/Destiny were kind of rushed I guess. That's the feeling I got when watching them both anyway. But it is in't too bad as it is trying to get people in to the gundam series again. 00 is by far a much better series.
