Superfans,
I'm currently reading Superman: World of New Krypton (And it is awesome). I want to get the trades for this series but am a little confused as to how the trades are being released.
I have:
Superman and The Legion of Superheroes
Superman / Brainiac
I see that there is a Superman: New Krypton Vol. 1-3 HC available. Do those include World of New Krypton or will they be released seperately??

I think New Krypton is collected in 2 HC vols. Not 3.
World of New Kyrpton is a different story--It comes after New Krypton and is 12 issues.
Not sure how they will collect world of New Krypton as issues #4 and #5 are part of the codename: Patriot storyline which crossed over with an issue of Action and supergirl and superman.

Most likely thing with "Codename Patriot" is that the four parter will be collected together along with the Jimmy Olsen special. Issues one through five of WONK will be collected one volume. "Superman: Mon-El" will be out in Feburary. It collects Superman #684-690, Action Comics #874 and the Mon-El origin story from Action Comics Annual #10.
BTW, "Codename Patriot" is issue six. Not four and five. Though five is the prologue, it will be part of the first volume of WONK.

So is Superman: Wonk vol. 1 available for purchase yet?

Right, I almost forgot how long DC takes with their trades...(Or maybe that was just GL):frown:
Is it at least solicited?

Dan Didio literally said he doesn't trust trade readers, and thinks people should be buying issues on a month to month basis, and as their trades for superheroes has ground to halt from where it was, I'll say it will probably be a close to three to six months before they start releasing them.
The only books they seem to feel the need to collect straight away are books by Morrison, presumably because he's got a built in bookstore audience, used to getting his work in trade as Vertigo has trained it's audience to do.
Why, oh why, Didio doesn't want to do this with the superhero line is beyond me.
(Well obviously it's because word gets out about bad stories when it comes to trade so there's less sales for them - will anyone by the trade of 'Battle For The Cowl'? - and he'd like to avoid that drop off, but it's hard to remember which stories are meant to be good and are worth picking up with the current delays).

That attitude towards trades is rather disconcerting. I don't really read alot of DC back issues, but it's nice for me to go to my LCS and pickup Superman, Batman, GL, and Flash trades every few months.
I get back issues to collect comics, but honestly, the reason I read most of 'em is so I know what trades I'm going to buy. I live for Hardcovers...

It just seems to me they are building all this momentum for the monthlies, but trade readers are being left out of it by DC dragging their heels.
You can get the mini hardcovers which they've started with - taking the place of trades as the initial reprint, presumably as they make more profit from them - but I'm just not going to do that for some books, and thus an unnecessary wait is thrown in.
It could just be the economics - make people feel they need the more expensive version - and it probably is, but Didio's comments on 'not trusting people who read trades' certainly don't make you feel like you are on their radar as a reader at all.

No. Only "Superman: Mon-El" has been solicited. "Who Is Superwoman", WONK and "The Sleepers" have not been solicited yet. I think we'll hear more this month when the new Previews come out.
