Wow, that cover for The Wild Hunt #8 is gorgeous! It looks like another challenging ink-wash cover. I can't find it but there was a link here to a Dark Horse page that showed how challenging it was to scan and colour the ink-wash Mike Mignola did for the cover of Witchfinder #4 (which hits the stands tomorrow!). Anybody know where to find it? It underscored how amazing Dave Stewart is.

I agree! Dave's colors on the new Umbrella Academy promo are spectacular as well. He needs a raise... Now.

Dave's coloring on the Witchfinder series is some of the best work in comics today. That HB cover is AMAZING!!!!

Which UA promo are you talking about?

Dave's work is always good all of the time.

I love Dave's colours! Seriously, a page from the Hellverse without his touch is really incomplete. They should just have a special couch at the Eisners every year with his name plaque on it.

Eisner Awards Nominees 2010 Announced:

Best Coloring
Steve Hamaker, Bone: Crown of Thorns (Scholastic); Little Mouse Gets Ready
Laura Martin, The Rocketeer: The Complete Adventures (IDW); Thor, The Stand: American Nightmares (Marvel) David Mazzuccheilli, Asterios Polyp
Alex Sinclair, Blackest Night, Batman and Robin (DC)
Dave Stewart, Abe Sapien, BPRD, The Goon, Hellboy, Solomon Kane, Umbrella Academy, Zero Killer (Dark Horse); Detective Comics (DC); Northlanders, Luna Park (Vertigo)

Dave has had a pretty busy year, and this nomination is much deserved. I would say his biggest competition this year is Laura Martin...but I really, really hated the cover design for Asterios Polyp so I hope Dave brings it home again this year.

I love Dave Stewart and all of his work. But considering this I still think Alex Sinclair should get the coloring award for his work on Blackest Night. Dave Stewart is consistently amazing whereas this is some of the best of Sinclair's coloring i've seen

So do you think other colorists when nominated are like "aww hell yeah!" and then they see Dave is on the list and then they are like "aww (^)*%*)^)!"

I was uber gushing about Dave Stewart in my last letter to Hellmail. The man is a master at what he does. I think even Chuck Norris fears Dave Stewart.

Chuck Norris fears no man! But he does know when he's out of his league, because Dave is the best there is at what he does- period.

Amazing doesn't even begin to describe it... You'd have to create a whole new word for it.

Let's just say that what Mike is to Drawing, Dave is to Colour.

I don't know what you did there. That's not even a sentence.

In contrast, I rule a small island filled with broken lego mini-figs, bent Power Ranger Pogs, and grain alcohol.

Whereas I lie fallen asleep with my bonky face into a board of keys, fearful of even owning rulers, not wondering what 'pogs' could be meaning in the slightest.

EDIT:
And oh yeah: Dave Stewart is a coloring god.

Buying current Marvel-books to me is problematic for the smutt they'd be calling coloring most of the time.
