Here is the cover for Outsider #26

I know the S-shield doesn't exactly match Steel's regular shield but could be artistic license, a mistake or new armor.
What do you think?

Possible, but it could be the Eradicator.

Now that you mention it I think it just might be. Oh well...

DC has talked about something happening with him and he was a member before. I mean, it could be Steel, but there is at least one other canidate.

Either way, as a Superman completist, it would mean me adding Outsiders to my pull list (which, as long as it's written by Tomasi, I'm actually ok with).

Tomasi isn't writing it. He's leaving and Didio is taking over.

It's a change in writers, that doesn't mean a revamp. They are just adding one new member as far as we know.

Sadly, me too. Sigh.

...and so much for that.

I'd love to see Steel more fully utilized, though. Why this guy isn't on the JLA I have no idea.
We haven't seen "Big Science" from Steel since his JLA run, dang nabbit!

I'd rather it WAS the Eradicator. I really liked him in his previous Outsiders stint.

So I'll have to buy a Didio book? :frown:

GUYS.
Didio himself said he doesn't like the thought that every writer that takes over should change the roster dramatically.
So I guess Steel/Eradicator would be the ONLY new addition.
Unless you subscribe to the "Didio is a hypocrite" motion.

Much like my usual pattern with OUTSIDERS, I recently dropped the title (the pattern being, I start picking it up w/ each creative change with great expectations and end up dropping it after about 6-7 months of lackluster reading). Tomasi has come closer than anyone else when it comes to making this book enjoyable.
If Didio introduces Steel to the book, I will definitely give it another chance (this would be the 4th or so). I've always liked the character but he's rarely used well in recent memory outside of 52.
It looks like they're trying to find a new spot for Didio in the new heirarchy at DC. Hopefully, Tomasi will go on to characters more worth his abilities.

I'd prefer Steel be back in the JLA like he was under Morrison.

You don't have to buy it, but if you want to, you'll have to deal with his being a writer on it.
Same here.
Same everywhere. I don't think I ever recall anybody hating Steel once it was pass the Reign of the Supermen stage. Although his later armors sucked. His classic Man of Steel armor is still the best. So what he's a Superman-related character? That's his origin. Don't go away from it.

I'd prefer him in the JLA, but Steel in Outsiders could be pretty cool, depending on how he's written.

I'd like to see how this whole "underground, cut off from all society" dealy would work out for him.

No one hated the character. His book did well under Louise Simonson, but when Christopher Priest took over, that's when the title went downhill. So when Morrison took over, he was able to inject the same kind of life that Weezie did, only he brought his crazed imagination to the process. Waid did pretty well with him in "52" and Mark Schultz in Superman: The Man Of Steel title. Peter Milligan was just wrong to do "Infinity Inc" and that's why that series didn't do well.

My first thought was the Eradicator, since he was in v.2 of the title, but I don't know what his current situation is.
Either way, Steel or Eradicator, I'm cool with that. Steel is a personal favorite, and Eradicator would be a callback (something the Outsiders can do well, with their history).

....I dunno if that's Steel.
I think that Superguy's got hair on his head......

Hair on his head and, from the looks of it, no armour anywhere.
Could it be Superman checking in to see how the Outsiders are doing carrying out one of Bruce's last wishes?

Well, if it IS the Eradicator, is he wearing those ruby quartz glasses he had?

Looks like the Eradicator to me.

This is what he looked like last time he was seen, which was right before "Infinite Crisis". He was rendered unconscious and was left in Steelworks. He's probably awakened since then with New Krypton and last time, he attacked Superman and Superboy because of what had happened to them with Max Lord and Lex Luthor. And since Markova was the subject of an attempted attack by a Kryptonian, I wouldn't be surprised if that's him with a new look.

He stopped wearing those around the time of "Return To Krypton" and definately in "Strange New Visitor".

Definitively the Eradicator. No armor and different outfit. Definitively Eradicator. So much Eradicator it hurts. 100% Angry Krypton Man.
He always seemed to be the black sheep of the S family to me, so he's definitively in the right place.
He has been missing for a good time. I would like to see his reaction to the appearance of New Krypton and the anti-K paranoia on earth.

Well, I'd rather he go back to his previous look- still with all you've mentioned, he seems like an odd choice to join the Outsiders.

He was a member before, so it would just be adding another former member.

Not to mention, with recent events in the arc "Codename: Patriot", it makes sense that he'd join up with the Outsiders against Superman and the other Kryptonians. He's one of the few beings capable of hurting a Kryptonian when his programming is on the fritz and we saw how he freaked out before and after "Return To Krypton". Also, he might've been one of the things Atlas was sent to get from Ironworks, besides the nanotech code to mess up the water supply.

Doubtful. It's most likely the Eradicator. Didio's own words indicates that it is him and he has had issues with Superman acting evil in the past, along with working with the Outsiders.
