How do you make a Storm series work?

Yeah she was taken out of the X-Books before then so she could co-star in Black Panther, where she was not wallpaper.

Brubaker wanted a lot of characters that he wasn't able to use at the time, and he wasn't able to because they were busy in other books.

Storm being Wallpaper in the X-Books is the fault of editors of the X-Books. Obviously they can't use her all the time but she could be used in those books more than she has been.
It's more to do with the lack of Claremont. No one else has ever really known what to do with Storm exactly, even when she' been handheld well (Kelly, Brubaker, etc). And honestly, even CC doesn't always hit it out the park (se: lil'Ro).

Before her marriage to BP though, she was a driving force in X-Treme/Uncanny, leading her own independent team of X-Men that even had U.N. authority. She was anything BUT wallpaper before the marriage, it's only afterward that her position's been degraded in the Xbooks.

part of me feels like it was a win-win situation for everyone on the creative side.

x-men: storm is naturally a spotlight stealer, and wasn't allowing other characters to flourish while she dominated everything.

black panther: unknown book with a dismal future - needed a big name to help prop it up.


storm was sent to black panther to boost his sales, and at the same time offer a way for cyclops x-men to take control. it was only after the new status quo on x-men was established that storm was allowed back in the x-books, and in diminished capacity.

two birds. one stone.

im sorry this actually changed my opinion on BP but looking at it and reading it just has made me come to terms storm doesnt belong there seriously it just hit me, but i will se how it turns out but ive been trying to accept it and eh...

I have always felt that Storm, Ms. Marvel and Spider-Woman are the three Marvel heroines who should've always had solo books, in a consistent, lasting way ala DC's Wonder Woman. Storm in particular would've been a great way of Marvel having a fantastic, iconic female character with a unique, non-derivative persona, and a memorable visual, who also happened to be non-Caucasian. What a wasted opportunity.

Don't forget Fantastic X-Men, I mean Fantastic Four :D Seriously he did write one of my . fave FF stories, the whole Reed in Doom's armor saga. Dunno if it was the story or the great Larroca art (back when Larroca was good)

There is a very short list of writers I'd trust with a Storm series, the first is CC, the second one should be Byrne, the third maybe Yost to appeal to new audiences, but Byrne and CC will always be the guys that not only shaped Ororo into who she is, but who gave her the best moments ever.

These are some of my ideas, hopes and fantasies that would make a Storm successful (again)...ok I may actually bleed out from this question since I am not just gonna blab from a POV of a Storm series but more so as her character existing in BP and the XBooks. I think its important to talk about how to make her hot and in the spot light now before I can think about a series for her. I think she could have her own but I would be just as satisfied with her being a hard hitting main character in both series.

I wasn't able to read every ones post so if I repeat some stuff I apologize and not trying to bite any ones ideas or themes...lets begin.

Storm in Black Panther: I think that they can do a lot with Storm in this tittle. I for one am a fan of the marriage and the relationship they share, so my comments are not in anyway anti-marriage or Black Panther. I am not a fan of how Storm is IN the marriage though...I feel like they have downgraded Storm where she is not T'Challa's equal ruler but his wife...Her foofoo lala lovey dovey attitude has got to go...and yeah she can love and express love just do it in that stoic, controlled emotions Storm way...I would love to see her more like Queen Gorgo from 300. Ok with the new attitude which is really just the old attitude, I would like to see her made over...Storm should stop looking like a mutant X-Men (which I love) and start looking like a Wakandian royal! I think they should have done this from the beginning cause it makes more sense but hey they can squeeze this in anytime by all means lol...I think since Storm married T'Challa then that would by some sort of tradition make her head or Queen of the Dora Milaje...MAKEOVER TIME! Getting Storm back with a warriors attitude and a warriors look, Wakanda tribal tattoos, badass Royal Dora Milaje costume and a MOHAWK! She would be trained by them too so that would up Storm's hand to hand combat skill pretty high. Maybe this could happen when T'Challa takes the Black Panther mantel again. In the future of this it would be cool to see a ethnic X-Men...a Wakanda based X-Men led by Storm.


So if they did do some of that stuff they would have to reflect it in the X-Books...but if not then this is what I would want in the X-Books for Storm on how to get her out of the shadows!

Storm and The X-Men: Give Her, Her Own Team! lol They could do this by creating a split within the X-Men...the split would come from Storm and a few others finding out about Cyclops X-Force and completely turning their backs on Cyclops tactics....we have already seen an unspoken...and spoken conflicting POVs in how Cyclops and Storm think the X-Men should be run and what they stand for....It would be cool to see Storm (again this old attitude) calling out Cyclops and his ways, how they are no different from the ones they are fighting....Storm and Cyclops don't need to fight (come on this dude doesn't deserve a 3rd beat down)...it ends up where Storm takes herself and mutants that also see the hope in Xaviers original dream back to New York the story could focus on them and the ones that stay behind cause they are ready to kill then be killed...then you have the mutants that are fenced. This would be cool cause you can have stories showing the conflict within the mutant community...we also could see cool battles between Storm's X-Men and X-Force...Storm and Co. stopping X-Force from assassinating someone.

I think between these changes this could really set a nice path for a Storm unlimited series....the series I agree with some of you that it should be the subject matter of her arcane abilities...maybe leading into an event with her, magik, doctor voodoo, scarlet witch...leading to the undoing of MDay!
