An audiophile, from Latin audio "I hear" and Greek philos "loving," is a hobbyist who seeks high-quality audio reproduction via the use of non-mass-produced high-end audio electronics.
Despite living in the Digital Age of Audio reproduction, which is in a fact is discrete-time, discrete-level analog of a previous electrical analog---IE Ipod nanos and the like--I have discovered the joy enjoy of older or PC-friendly termed vintage or unique sound equipment.
I love rockin my Sony Walkman Cassette player with Pioneer SE-305 headphones that feel like you are wearing two soup cans on either side of your head
Dare I mention the Radio Shack 7 channel stereo mixer with two SL-1200 MK2 turntables = good times.
As far as post-modern equipment; the Ipod's predecessor the Sony New MD Walkman Mini-Disc recorder/player pushes serious bass and treble.
Also the Sony Playstation 1 ScPH-1001 audio version delivers crisp sound.
Whats your fav modern or old school stereo/surround sound gear?
