What's the point of having both of these guys. They have the same type of powers (apart from Gorgon's stony stare) and both are Wolverine villains, that are now playing apart of the mainstream Marvel Universe presently.
The two essentially cancel one another out. We don't need both of them.

I liked Mister X during Tieri's run. I could care less about the Gorgon, though I love him in Secret Warriors.

i'm not sure what you're suggesting. one's affiliated with Hydra and an enemy of Fury/SHIELD/The Secret Warriors. the other is part of the Thunderbolts. their bios don't even make them sound similar. what's the problem?

Neither currently interacts with Wolverine as both are playing in different parts of the Marvel U.
And if we just want to eliminate characters based on similar power sets, we'd be wiping a crapload of ppl out of the Marvel U...

I don't even see the similarities outside of the fact that they're top-notch fighters and Wolverine villains...X is a low-level telepathy that uses his powers and martial arts training to predict his opponents moves. Gorgon has super-speed, Strength, and the medusa's stare, along with Martial arts skill. Not really the same thing at all.

yea they're both doing other things, elsewhere, not interacting w/ wolverine, and i dont have a problem with the way either is being used right now
theyre both low level Telepaths who are really good at martial arts, who also wear sun glasses(c'mon how many comic book villains actually wear sun glasses), who are also Wolverine villains that are very formidable opponents....The Gorgon just has additional powers, because Millar went overboard with the power set
and since they were both created within a similar time frame, it seems negligible to have both be Wolvie villains
but like i said before, theyre both being used fairly well right now in a way that it doesnt seem redundant to have both guys around

Mister X first appeared in February 2001, Gorgon in October 2004. That's a pretty broad idea of what a 'similar time frame' is.

Sure their creation was not far from each other. But, for me, they were created in different chapters of marvel's history. I'm not sure JQ was EIC at the time.
And I don't think they have the same powers. I don't remember the Gorgon be a low level telepath. The reason why you are confused is maybe because they were both advertising themselfs with the same way: Both advertise the whole "I can kill anyone"
I would like to see a battle between the two.

Other than Gorgon and Mr. X being badass martial artist and having telepathy they're pretty different.

Mr. X kills because he loves to read the minds of things as they're dying. Kind of like an angry child that takes a magnifying glass to ants, but with serious martial arts skills, and they've long since advanced to people.
Gorgon's a total nihilist, can also turn people to stone, and has a genius level IQ bent on world domination/destruction via Hydra.
And your answer to why they're both around, but not in Wolverine? Wolverine has a knack for killing his opponents. In fact, he's killed quite a few of his major rogues gallery the past few years/months (Omega Red, Wild Child, Sabretooth). So Marvel's probably just building these guys up to be the next big thing for Stabbity Jones.
It's got to be someone, after all.

Gorgon has moved on/evolved past Wolverine. his major opposition is SHIELD,at the moment. he doesn't wear the sunglasses any more either. i think he just had a blindfold on and traditional japanese garb, last time he appeared. and he lacks Mister X's Mr.Szasz-like body scarring, death fetish (he's addicted to the experience of others dying), and cage fighting resume. it's much more personal between Mister X and Wolverine, too. i doubt Gorgon cares all that much about being killed by Logan. X cares a great deal about losing to Logan.

As of Wolverine: Origins #39. He got stabbed with the Muramasa blade. He just let Logan do it, thinking it was an ordinary sword, then got to look shocked when it killed him.
Not exactly going out with a bang, to say the least.

My estimate it would remove 80 to 85% of the Marvel universe's characters, not including mystical martial artists or ninjas or guys trained by ninjas.

Um......isn't that a contradiction.
Anyway. I think Gorgon is cooler.....especially with his new gear that he wears. He's the more powerful of the two also. Physically he's got the class 2 strength, superhuman speed enough to keep up with Quicksilver types speedwise, and damage soak on par with Wolverine.
