I was just wondering what you lot think is the coolest character name to ever grace an anime? To my mind, there is no better name than Grimjow Jaggerjaques(I hope I spelt that right) from Bleach! If I ever get a pet, I am totally naming it after him!

It's actually "Grimmjow Jeagerjaques." Though, I do tend to spell it "Jaggerjaques," myself.

As for me, I've always thought Tubalcain Alhambra (Hellsing) had an awesome name. Baccano also had a ton of awesome sounding names, my favorites were probably Nice (pronounced like "niece") Holystone and Jacuzzi Splot.

..Okay, so Jacuzzi was more of an awesome person with a very silly name.

Also, Lilinette Gingerback gets an honorable mention for having the cutest Arrancar name ever.

I was always partial to Vash the stampede. I never actually watched the show more than once or twice, but the name is cool as hell.

Millions Knives, especially since it doubles a threat considering his powers.

I actually didn't like that name. It just sounds kinda, well, silly.

(And not silly in an awesome way, like Grimmjow.)

Millions Knives, especially since it doubles a threat considering his powers.

Which reminds me: Maximillion Pegasus.

A girl in my neighborhood named her dog "Ichigo." Pretty cool name for a dog.

When I get a dog, I'm naming him Morpheus.

I also liked Firo Prochainezo, though I'm not sure how made up it is.

And lets not forget jewels like Elmer C. Albatross and Graham Specter.

Setsuna F. Seiei. How many anime characters have a middle name? It makes it feel so distinguished and high class. Plus it rolls off the tongue.

Phantom F. Harlock
Char Aznable

Jet Black
Vicious, no last name. Just Vicious (works best if you say it in a low gravely whisper.)

Actually, there were a lot of these in Gundam Wing. Gotta love an anime were everyone is named after numbers.

Dio Brando (Jojo's Bizarre Adventures) - somewhat symbolic sounding, and the "Dio" bit makes a wonderful sound bite. It's just really easy to hear the good guys exclaiming it in various ways as Dio proceeds to prove how badass he is.

I also must admit chuckling over the fact that it's Yagami Hayate (Nanoha As) that ends up getting the fabled "Book of Darkness".

Dio Brando always made me think of a mob boss.

Probably for the obviously chain of association to the Godfather, but it still sounds like an italian mob name.

Also, not that any of you care, but I named by dog on Harvest Moon "Mist Gun"...in fact, all the names I gave were shonen themed.

Wan't Dio Brando named after the hair metal band and Marlon Brando? Of course maybe JoJo's Bizzare Adventure maybe should be disqualified from entering this competition. It just wouldn't be fair. This is a manga that has villians named after REO Speedwagon and Weird Al Yankovic.

Dio was at least named after the band Dio, though I am not entirely positive about Marlon Brando.

Besides, you forgot Vanilla Ice, with his Stand: Cream.

The Tenchi Muyo characters' names stand out for me.
The incorporation of pronunciation and kanji characters are so original.
