She totally hasn't had any time to like modern metal yet. Such a poser. Maybe one day she will, but so far she's been back for, like 3 days.

She is a time traveler. Who knows how much time has passed for her. Remember, the first issue of the New Mutants had her coming from the future to warn the team about Legion.

Hey New Mutants fans....

Would anyone be interested in writing up...like...2 or 3 pages of action for me involving these characters?
I'm trying to beef up my portfolio for a review I'll be having at a local Con and I'd like to include a few pages with Marvel characters.
Specifically the New Mutants.

Thanks to anyone who might wanna help out!

just shoot me an IM and I'll give you my email addy.

If Selene is the major villain in Necrosha and she is bringing dead mutants back to life with help from Eli then she has to bring back Gideon. He has history with the new mutants and the original x force which included Warpath and Domino who are now in the new X force. He was also killed by Selene. He is a perfect character to bring back as long as the external side of his/Selene and Cannonball’s stories is ignored.

I'm going to assume Illyana is around the same age as the New X-men. you'd be wrong

Although the writer of this prestigious title has already gone on record stating that the Illyana we're currently dealing with is a bit older; closer to her teammate's ages. Which would mean she is older than 15. Considerably.

I've been reading and re-reading this issue a lot, and as much as I like Diogenes Neves, I really wish Baldus would become the regular penciler on this series. It's so reminiscent of Sienkiewicz, yet so his own style, that I just can't help falling in love with it.

He's a great sub if/when Neves falls behind or just needs a fill-in for whatever reason.

I could settle for that for now. If this title gets shaken up after SC, I hope Zeb stays on and they just get a different artist.

Totally agreed. I like Neves, but the book really shines with a more striking artist.

Neves is an exceptional artist. His pages are full of energy.
I believe that what is possibly acting as a hindrance might be the colorist.
There isn't much variety in the color palette. The same yellow is used for each blonde and the yellow in their uniforms. It all runs together. Makes it really bland.
The artist on 5 had vibrant colors that really popped.
Neves needs to get a different colorist. Please and thank you.

Totally co-signed. The original title was good under Buscema and McLeod, but it really started taking off to new heights when Seinkewicz came on board.

Meh. He's pretty generic and bland. Nothing really 'set's' him apart from other artists. I'd rather if they keep this art style, that they get Rafa Sandoval on the title.

I wouldn't be opposed to Rafa Sandoval coming aboard here and there. He's very talented. I really enjoyed his Young X-Men pages as well as his Avengers Initiative stuff.

relegate Neves to the backup fill-in slot and I might start picking this book up on a regular basis.

His work is being wasted on "The Initiative". He really is good.

Neves has been alright...but the last issue revealed what this series is capable of visually.

It's the colourist and the inkers.
Both do not do Neves' pencils any justice wot-so-ever. The inker on "Worlds Apart" was better suited to DN's style...I do not understand why they could not have brought him over onto NM as well. :frown:

If Baldus cannot stay on the book, I think Neves, Sandoval, The Kuberts, and Pagulayan should rotate as New Mutants art teams.

Lawd Gawd! Who let this doofus do the artwork on this book. It looks like something that was drawn by a 5 year old child (http://www.cluttercontrolfreak.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/child_art.jpg). It's bloody ugly! Is Marvel serious about promoting this book?

I bought all five issues, and I have to say, love of Cannoball aside. I really was not impressed by this book. And why does Wells potray Sams as such an idiot? Why is he standing at attention like some military cadet, calling Cyclops 'Sir'? Aren't they supposed to be friends? And why is everyone so angry? Is that supposed to convey strength?

Anyway I'm sticking with the book, only because it is the only place where I can get my Cannonball fix. But I am not impressed with this book. Though I will say this it's nice to see Cannoball's dialogue in straight forward English as opposed to the piggin' English trying to emphasize his southern drawl. But really Marvel you can do better than this.

I agree 100% with this point. The art was disgusting this issue!

The part when the skull appeared in karma's eye, could it represent her evil twin brother Tran?

I'd like to see them do something with that. Hasn't that plot point just been chilling in the background since the Beast mini?

Yeah, I really hope we get more Baldus. I thought I was gonna hate the art going in, but I absolutely loved it.

This issue was the best BY FAR! this is the kind of artist that a book like NM should have! ITs obvious that this book is heading towards a more bizarre universe than the other Xbooks and it needs an artists with Skills and particular style that fits into this landscape.

I cant believe how poorly explained was Danis powers situation!
Im glad that Legion is getting better and who knows maybe he will be joining the team!
Im glad that Warlock is coming back too!
Yana is the BEST!

Zachary Baldus is only doing issue #5 and after that, it's Diogenes Neves again. Baldus did a good job in this issue but personally I prefer Neves's take because he's able to pull off facial expressions of each of the characters faces and he even made Illyana look sinister and ominous.

Yeah, I prefer Neves (only because I prefer the traditional lineart), but I must see more from Baldus in the X-Books.
