Dirty Deeds!

"Dirty Deeds" is a series of threads where a discussion can be held about the morally questionable, or outright evil acts of characters in comics. It might be a discussion about times a hero crossed a moral line they shouldn't have, or a discussion of a villain's most horrific acts in their history, but the premise remains the same.

Where possible, a poll will be included to vote upon said character's "dirtiest deed".

Please do remember that there are no wrong answers, this is all a matter of opinion. Since everyone has a different set of morals, please try and respect differences in people's own beliefs.

The ninety-first Dirty Deeds thread is here, and we’re going to talk about a character that some might question if she’s fully run the gamut between good and evil, but there’s no doubt that more than any other mutant, she’s managed to run to the extremes of skinny to fat! I’m talking of course about…

X’ian “Shan” Coy Manh…
Karma!!!

- Physically attacking her own teammate, Dani Moonstar? (New Mutants (vol. 1) #1)

- Agreeing to work for her uncle, the crime lord General Coy, for a year? (New Mutants (vol. 1) #6)

- While under the influence of the Shadow King, starting up the Gladiators’ fighting arena? (revealed in New Mutants (vol. 1) #31)

- While under the influence of the Shadow King, framing Magik and Dani Moonstar for murdering her bodyguards in Madripoor? (New Mutants (vol. 1) #32)

- While under the influence of the Shadow King, using her power to dominate others to make the New Mutants torture innocents? (New Mutants (vol. 1) #33)

- Possessing Magik to force her to teleport the two of them off of the Starjammer? (New Mutants (vol. 1) #51)

- Using her powers to possess Tessa to try to use her to steal information from the Hellfire Club? (New Mutants (vol. 1) #51)

- Helping her uncle, the crime lord General Coy, rise in power, and apparently aiding Bloodscream in the assassination the prince-chancellor of Madripoor? (revealed in Wolverine (vol. 2) #4)

- Breaking her word to continue working for her uncle, and even threatening his life? (Wolverine (vol. 2) #30)

- Using her powers to possess the Beast as he was leaving Harry’s Hideaway, and trying to make him torture Hellfire Club guards for information regarding her siblings? (Beast #1)

- Deciding for all the New Mutants that they should ally with Mikhail Rasputin, possessing them and putting them to sleep? (New Mutants: Truth or Death #2)

- Telepathically making the younger New Mutants forget she ever allied herself, and them, with Mikhail Rasputin? (New Mutants: Truth or Death #3)

- Swatting Sunspot for claiming he could woo Luna, the owner of the Grind Stone? (New Mutants (vol. 2) #13)

- Seeking out Wolfsbane, and asking her to rejoin the teaching staff at Xavier’s despite the fact that she had an affair with a student? (New X-Men (vol. 2) #16)

- Shoving Emma Frost after a training session to test her psionic powers? (X-Men: Manifest Destiny #1)

- Helping kidnap a member of the Hellfire Cult to lead back to Graymalkin Industries to be interrogated by a depowered mutant acupuncturist? (Uncanny X-Men #502)

- Killing the disembodied consciousness of a child molester and murderer trapped inside Legion's mind? (New Mutants (vol. 3) #5)

She’s a refugee of Vietnam, a former New Mutant, former puppet of the Shadow King, head librarian at the Xavier Institute, and now the phattest X-Man ever! Now vote for what you think is the worst of Karma’s “Dirty Deeds”!

I only regret that darknessatnoon will not be here for a few days, at least, to give his thoughts on how she forced Tessa into being her willing slave. Sebastian Shaw has never looked so jealous.

I only regret that wbe posted this before rather than after reading today's issue of New Mutants, or there'd definitely be another option on this poll.

Although I'd imagine many people wouldn't have much of a problem with killing a child molestor/murderer.

Really, then it comes down to deciding on whether or not she chose to save that disembodied psyche from Legion's own mind. The debate would stem, did Karma kill him, or just choose not to save him?

I'll add it to the list, but yeah, I'm unable to add it to the poll.

For a second, I wondered if she should take a hit for child abandonment. Not for Leong and Nga, but for the kid she found in the Asgardian desert, and then left behind.

But then its hard to tell, because that kid just vanished like some sort of ethereal spirit when the rest of the New Mutants found her.

Using Christian Bale Batman logic, it wasn't murder and was totally acceptable.

And using common sense I'd say a child molesting killer deserves everything he gets so it isn't really a "Dirty deed".

The sequence of events Karma went through in the Asgardian desert also happened to Baldar the Brave during Simonson's run on Thor. Balder encountered the same lost child, the same sand worm, the whole schmere.

It wasn't a true child, it was a test by the Norns (or the fates, it's been a while since I read it) It was a test of character which both characters passed, and a great weight loss method to boot (Baldar was also majorly chunky at that point in history.)

No evil deeds here.

A pink buzz cut, however, is just criminal:biggrin:
