Sorry I didn't get back to thank you all.
Work today was ricockulously busy, and, while I was able to read most of your fond wishes, I was too busy finding places on shelves to put things to formulate replies.
Today is Pol's birthday are favorite poo throwing fire loving munkey is a year older today.
Happy Birthday Pol Rua
Thanks, pickle. Oh yeah, I'm well old now.
Happy Birthday my friend, happy birthday.
May all your poop find its target.
Even if it doesn't it still makes me laugh. I tend to find that, like pie-fights, a little inaccuracy in your poop flingin' tends to add to the effect, rather than detract.
Happy Birthday Pol!
Thanks, mate.
Happy B-Day, Pol Rua!
(On a side note, today is also my birthday)
Ta very much, J Dog.
And a happy (belated) birthday to you, too. Here ya go, J Dawg, I even hooked ya up.

That is too damn cute.

I'd much rather have been doing that than shelving manga, but needs must when the boss pays you to work in a comic shop and all that...

So how old are you in Monkey Years?
I am quite getting on in human years, but in Monkey years, I seem stuck in my mid-late 20's. My llifestyle doesn't seem to have changed all that much since then... which is nice.
A birthday present for our favouite munkey.

I really have to catch you up on the impromptu and in many cases accidental celebrations this year, but alas, if I do, I shall be late for a show which I am quite looking forward to.
Have a good birthday you old poop you.

Thanks, rick. Good to have you back, man.
So anyway, as promised... Tales of Something!!! [/reverb]
This year I was kinda shagged out, so I just flaked out and decided that I wasn't really going to do the birthday party thing. I was just too damn tired to organize it and couldn't really be arsed even letting people know.
That said, a bunch of things just sort of happened.
Last Saturday night, I went to watch a local pro wrestling show (http://www.pwaqueensland.com/) with three friends, two of whom had never seen a live wrestling show before. It was a great night, and both newcomers really enjoyed themselves, which is really the main thing for me.
On Monday, a friend of mine, who's about to move into a new flat, asked me and a bunch of other folks to come around and help him get the new place ready (it's a bit of a 'fixer-upper'). It was a pretty good day, good company and we got a lot done.
Afterwards, he shouted us all gourmet burgers and beers, followed by icecream. Which was lovely.
Following the cleanup, I went to a mate's place where he hooked me up with some great television ('You Have Been Watching' with Charlie Brooker, and 'QI' with Stephen Fry), we watched some episodes of 'Big Train' (with Simon Pegg) and then went off to an improv comedy show.
At the show, for which I had designed and illustrated a poster, I was asked to be a judge, which was fun. I also sank a couple of pints of Guinness and ate a delicious and very cheap steak in a lovely rich bacon and onion gravy.
After the show, I got a message from a friend who was celebrating her birthday, so we headed off to the bowling alley where I hung out with more friends, dodged nerf darts being launched at me by very pretty ladies and downed a couple of gin-and-tonics. Which was nice.
On Tuesday, I was invited by some friends to see some shows. Basically, there's an arts festival going on in town and part of it's a kind of carnival set up with rides and tents and international entertainers (http://www.brisbanefestival.com.au/The-Carnivals-Edge/0,6,397,6.aspx). So we went to see Philip Escoffey, a mentalist, who was excellent and also a lovely person, and Die Roten Punkte, who were a kind of punk-rock pseudo-German comedy cabaret act, who were hilarious.
On my actual birthday, I did very little.
Last night, I was back at the Carnival to see an act called The Boy With Tape On His Face, an act which combined elements of silent film-style visual humour, mime, audience participation, music, stand-up comedy and traditional clowning. Quite simply one of the most magical shows I've ever seen. It's extremely hard to describe, but simply phenomenal to see.
Afterwards, we went and saw a UK-based magician called Paul Zenon, who was doing fifteen minute magic/comedy shows for $5. Also an utterly lovely and charming fellow, his act was marvelous and my friends and I headed away extremely happy.
This Saturday, my flatmate will be firing up the barbeque for some delicious meaty extravaganza. All in all, an excellent, if completely unplanned week.
All credit to my wonderful friends, and the efforts of a certain heffalump of my casual acquaintance.

Lucky man. I love QI.
I'm utterly addicted to it. I already have seasons a, b, and f, but I now have the missing seasons in-between.
And if you're not already, do check out Charlie Brooker's stuff (Screenwipe, Newswipe, You Have Been Watching...). It's fucking awesome.
And a show called 'Argumental'. It's a British debate panel comedy show.
