Charles Xavier was born to Brian and Sharon Xavier. As a nuclear scientist in Alamagordo, New Mexico, Brian worked hard, lucrative hours at the lab, but he still made plenty of time for loving his family. After he finished his schooling Charles traveled the world. After a rough break-up (http://i939.photobucket.com/albums/ad236/beecover/cleanburning.jpg), he founded the Xavier Institute (http://www.xavier.edu/) and the X-Men.

Where can you find the Professor these days?
Xavier is living in dignity on Mutant Island. He and Voght vacationed during Necrosha, but he appeared at Nightcrawler's funeral and with Legion during Second Coming. Even more recently, Xavier failed to prevent Dr. Nemesis from destroying reality, but successfully saved the day from Legion's horrible Moira personality and is currently on a mission with his son and Rogue!

He also participated in the alternate universe out of continuity X-Men FOREVER. After Jean declared her love for him, he left the title for the safety of the Shi'ar Empire with his avian mistress: Lilandra Neramani.

And he was recently revealed to be the 24th most popular X-Man on CBR!

The Professor had major roles in the television shows X-Men TAS, Pryde of the X-Men, X-Men Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men. He was also prominent in the X-Men Film Series and portrayed by the greatest Star Trek Captain, the wonderful Patrick Stewart. Charles Xavier saved Rogue by defeating Magneto in the first film, confronted the President of the United States, putting an end to anti-mutant discrimination in the second film, stopped Jean Grey from destroying the world in the third film, and rescued future student Scott Summers from experimentation and certain death in Wolverine: Origins. And he was amazing in First Class thanks to James McAvoy!!

The Awesome thing about Legacy is that it finally cleared up Professor X's past, while establishing 3 key facts:

1) Yes, Professor X is a jerk
2) Yes, Professor X is ruthless
3) Yes, Professor X is a badass

Right now, the good Professor is probably the only character in the MU, and in the X-Men in particular, who has faced his mistakes and come out clean. It would be great to see him just wandering the MU, having adventures, hanging out with Magneto, and staying clear of Scotts Nation X.

Surprised that there never was a thread for this to begin with. I love Proffessor X. He can be a bit self-righteous and idealistic at times, but at least he backs up his words and beliefs with actions. But I think it's fantastic what he did with the X-Men. He's taken a bunch of outcasts and helped to give them focus and direction and made them true heroes. It's what I love about the X-men.

Whereas with other SH teams, I can't help but feel that they are in it either out of of self-rightousness or their own personal glory.

I really liked Carey's Legacy because he was finally portrayed right again, great person and great telepath. Sure, he makes mistakes like everyone, but I think those recent retcons in Deadly Genesis and Astonishing went too far. It was sad watching Scott throwing Xavier out of his school:frown:

Am I a bad Xavier fan for liking his role in Onslaught?

Well, to be fair, I only liked phase 1, after Xavier was seperated from him, that's where it went downhill. I liked the idea of Dark Xavier in a cool armor with a little bit of Magneto added to his darker side. It was a well thought out plan, but the execution wasn't as good. I liked Xavier when he was one with Onslaught, and it would have been more interesting to see how the heroes would stop him without destroying Xavier inside.

I liked his Legacy stint also, but I thought Morrison did an excellent job, and Parker, too. Same with the other books I put up there. Is there anything you, or anyone, would add?

I would love seeing Charles and Shortpack together again. I'd really like for him to reconnect with some of his other students, and I agree that Shortpack could restore some of Xavier's reputation.
There wasn't time for Sage in Legacy, but I really want something between the two. I liked their relationship. They really let the other down, but they were still civil. I wonder if she would go with Charles or Scott in a split.

I hope they'll come to need him, soon. He seems to be getting along with Beast alright. I'd like Xavier to have his own adventures with a few friends. I was hoping he'd team up with Rogue forever, but no go. Maybe now that he's on the island with all of them he can collect a few mutants and wander away from the X-Men.

I pumped myself up for Magneto yesterday. Xavier and Magneto as best friends on an island vacation!!

I haven't seen or cared about Cassie in awhile, I never cared about Juggs, and he's never seemed all that difficult to defeat. Magneto was his friend the last time I read him (I haven't read most of Fraction's run, though). Frenzy just won't quit, though. She's on the island now, I hope for another match.

I'm not sure if he had enough interaction with Doug for a huge thing, but it will mean something I'm sure. He also worked hard for Wither and Wallflower and will be happy to see them, too, I think. Warpath's brother and anyone else from that mutant eating island will be important.

I usually read w/e I can in stores - I just don't bother with Uncanny. The Sisterhood arc was the first and last time I read Uncanny. But I'll take a look when I head there next week.

Do you know what issue it was said in? "I'd give anything in the world to fight alongside with them." The one thing I love most about Xavier is his kind personality - so hearing that makes me love him more. Just goes to show how much he really did care for his team.

I rather like Charles Xavier. He's probably in my top 5 favorite X-men actually(w/Wolverine, Cyclops, Gambit, and maybe Nightcrawler ahead of him). He had a dream, an idealistic perhaps impossible dream, but he never gave up on achieving it. He's loving, compassionate, willingly to work with people of all shapes and sizes. To dedicate your entire life to a cause, no matter how dangerous or implausible, well...thats admirable.

He's also a bit of a dickhead. He lies, he wipes his own students/friends' minds when it serves his causes, he hid his most loyal student's brother away from him, kept the Danger Room up and running despite knowing it was sentient and could possibly kill them, and isn't afraid of seeing kids and teenagers out into warzones to fight for his dream. So Kitty Pyrde isn't too off when she proclaimed he was a jerk.

But despite all that, I love his character even with his faults. I really can't stay mad at him too long, because despite all the dishonest or somewhat callous actions, his ultimate goal is one of love and peace, and he's such a comforting voice of reason most of the time.

Keep fighting for the world that hates and fears you, Chuck.

To dedicate your entire life to a cause, no matter how dangerous or implausible, well...thats admirable.

He's also a bit of a dickhead. He lies, he wipes his own students/friends' minds when it serves his causes, he hid his most loyal student's brother away from him, kept the Danger Room up and running despite knowing it was sentient and could possibly kill them, and isn't afraid of seeing kids and teenagers out into warzones to fight for his dream. So Kitty Pyrde isn't too off when she proclaimed he was a jerk.

But despite all that, I love his character even with his faults. I really can't stay mad at him too long, because despite all the dishonest or somewhat callous actions, his ultimate goal is one of love and peace, and he's such a comforting voice of reason most of the time.

Keep fighting for the world that hates and fears you, Chuck.

I usually read w/e I can in stores - I just don't bother with Uncanny. The Sisterhood arc was the first and last time I read Uncanny. But I'll take a look when I head there next week.

Do you know what issue it was said in? "I'd give anything in the world to fight alongside with them." The one thing I love most about Xavier is his kind personality - so hearing that makes me love him more. Just goes to show how much he really did care for his team.

No. I don’t think he should be in charge of the team anymore. I think the team has outgrown him and it would have made much more sense logically if he were killed off after Messiah Complex. I would have preferred to see that as opposed to the stuff they’ve got him doing now. But sense he is still alive I would separate him from the team and definitely not have him in this Nation X storyline. I would really retire him for a few years and then bring him back in a dramatic fashion.

As for Emma nahhhh. Not at this moment.

His dark sides have been carried away to the extreme. It seems like since Onslaught writers have been trying to make Chuck a villain… just read the early issues of Ultimate X-men and see what Millar was doing… I can respect what they were doing in Onslaught, but the rest… nahhh I ain’t with it.

I was so amazed, when a few weeks ago, the first X-Men movie was playing on TV and my mom actually recognized him as the guy from the old Star Trek (or Star Wars, don't know the difference) series. I was rereading early Legacy when Xavier was the cast and I forgot how much I loved it. I wish he was still the focus. It makes way more sense for him to be tutoring the new generation of students even getting assistance from Mags. A type of washing away of past mistakes. Trying to find where they fit in with Utopia, Scott, and their teaching methods. The love interest could be Amelia of course. Ugh this is what legacy should be(if it can't be a team book that is)!

Beast would be a good choice, but he's not my choice. In Morrison's run we saw that Beast could handle the students and ended up on Kick. I also don't think he handled X-Force well and he was not in good form at Nightcrawler's funeral, and as you said: he left. This is the second time he's left for the Avengers and he's left for other teams, too. He even joined S.W.O.R.D.

Out of the 06, I think Jean is best suited for the job. I can't recall her ever leaving the dream. Though X-Factor's methods at first were questioniable, she was still helping mutants. She's always seemed to be the one who supported Xavier the most and held the same ideals. I would love for her to come back to life and replace Xavier.

Quicksilver would be an interesting choice. Xavier really messed up with Wanda, but I think he's always liked the twins.

It's a shame he never took the Acolytes under his wing. Exodus would have been a powerful ally, as seen in Age of Apocalypse. With Utopia, where he and many of the Acolytes are remains up in the air. All that infiltration for Xavier to be captured by Norman while the Acolytes dispersed feels like a waste. What had become of Omega Sentinel? Is Amelia Vight really on Utopia? What about those, minus Frenzy, who worked for Sinister for that short time? It was the death of old ideals for the good of things, depending on how you look at it, but at the same time, it just lumped everyone together or sent others into limbo.

XML 225 really was a good issue, but I felt like after that, the quality went down, excluding the Necrosha issues, because lets face it, it felt like a team book again; pre-legacy while being legacy. Post Messiah Complex did allow Xavier to be explored a bit more. While I do like Rogue, it's a shame the team that she leads (whether it be pre-existing members or students) and the legacy that was with Xavier didn't merge.

I would love to see Xavier and Rogue work together. I would probably prefer anyone and Rogue. I like the New X-Men, but I'm not going to get excited about a Hellion or a Bling! arc. Xavier's seriously being wasted. He wasn't important to Utopia or Necrosha and he's not important to Second Coming. I suppose the writers don't want to use him. That's a shame.

He wasn't necessary to Necrosha, though he could have had a story, so it doesn't matter if he shows. But they put him in Utopia and his part sucked. They won't let him leave the island, but Fraction can't write a good Xavier, as we saw with the Magneto reunion. It's too bad he's the only one who wants to use him in the crossover. Xavier is an important character for the X-Men and should be in this universe smashing event. They could at least kill him again. It's awesome that the O5 have graduated, but if he's there they do something with him.

I gotta say, I personally find that Professor X is one of the biggest omissions from X-Books right now, I wish to be remedied in the immediate future. I guess we'll be seeing him in AVENGERS soon, and although I don't really like the idea of the Illuminati, I like the opportunity it allows him with interaction with a few of those other characters. Fun.

I echo that I hope he shows up in GENERATION HOPE, plus just LEGACY too. It could really provide some resolution to all the messed up stories he was forced into with past students and well, I think similar writing to what was demonstrated a while back in NEW MUTANTS would be cool.

Also, eventually, I think Xavier has great potential in a new role with X-Books, actually taking on a larger leadership role, since it would be a shame to see Cyclops and Storm regress, but Xavier still has a bunch of stories left in him. I would love stories where Xavier just talks a lot, philosophize mutant issues, argue them, fight for them on a verbal, political or social level. I think he needs to be written smarter. Anyway, such stories would allow growth with Cyclops and Storm, and by extension say Cannonball and Dani, whilst still giving some relevance and plot purpose for Xavier.

I loved that short period of time where Xavier regained the use of his legs and joined the X-Men. I think it was the beginning of Paul Smith's run. Anyway, it was sort of obvious that Charles was very manipulative and was doing some morally questionable things by conscripting these kids to fight for him--but it showed that he was just as willing to fight for that dream.

There are q few Xavier fans here, that makes this place cool. I've been a fan since the X-Men cartoon. It's funny see i was the only one who thought that show was about Xavier and everone else was extra in my family.

After the cartoon I started reading Onstaught and have been a fan since then. I've always believed in the dream.
