The cover for Blackest Night: Superman #2 is the worst thing.

Horrid.

Supergirl's zombie dad is grabbing her titties and he looks like he wants go down on her, and it's illustrated like something you would see on the side of a van.

It's like the Cover of "Blackest Night Titans" #1 except worse because this looks like it was done by someone who just graduated from Devry if Devry had an art division, which it might.

I'm hard pressed to think of any trashier superhero cover I've seen in recent memory. And I'm sure this is the only one I've ever seen where it looks like a character's zombie dad is going to try and bone her.

Sounds like you are seeing what you want to see; i.e. what is NOT there.

Worst thread?

I didn't really see it that way. I think this what we call projecting your own thoughts on something. I don't believe the artist intended anything more than "Creepy Zombie threatening Supergirl"

No titty grabbing nor down oning was implied.

Now, let's clean up this act a bit, folks.

I see Zor-El leaning over his daughter about to rip out her heart, as per what the Black Lanterns do.

Sorry, but that's on you, because it clearly is a classic "villain over defeated opponent" pose. That you read sexual assault into this speaks more to what's going on in your mind than anything the artist put on the page. I guess this is Booster Gold and Superman forcible sodomizing one another:

Wow...I didn't think that he was getting ready to go down on her at all. Now his grabby hand is grabbing the area of her shirt where her...er...chestal area is, but I find it hard to believe that zombie daddy is getting ready cop a feel.

Then again, I didn't know the character that well when he was alive. Papa John Phillips for the win!

While I don't agree with this, the description you gave got a chuckle out of me.

I find that people use the "dirty mind" rebuke when they're unable to see subtext.

The boob thing was mostly a joke, but I think it's foolish to not notice a weird sexual undercurrent on that cover. And when I say weird I mean friggin' bizarre.

I find that people employ faux intellectualism to deflect how they've been busted for their most base impulses.

There is zero sexual subtext in a zombie holding an unconscious person by the shirt. And funny how you're the only person on this planet who sees it. I guess none of us are on the level of a man who jokes about necrophillic incest.

It's a subject that's rife with humor!

I don't know, I thought it was pretty obvious the first time I saw it. Maybe it isn't as obvious as I thought. I'm not terrifically interested in debating it, either you see it or you don't and if you don't see it than it's impossible to explain.

Still a godawful cover no matter how you look at it, though.

We're all agreed that your initial post was pretty damn funny, but this is a PG-13 forum, not a "think like a 13 year old boy" forum.

That was a joke also, actually. Self-deprecating.

You can feel free to lock this thread, I can't see it leading anywhere particularly compelling.

Well, that would make it the first Supergirl cover ever without a pervy sexual element to it... way to go DC!

And funny how you're the only person on this planet who sees it.

Yeah, I thought he was saying it was the worst thing because her nose looks mongy.

Seriously, that nose freaks me out.

To be fair, necrophilic incest humour normally comes a bit later in life.

All I see on that cover are a lot of teeth.

In fact, I flipped through the issue and saw nearly endless teeth on every page. Did we suddenly flashback to '93 or am I just seeing things? Blackest Night: Teeth should be the name of this mini.

As the toothpaste shortage gripping the DC Universe since Final Crisis worsens, will Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps be able to restore dental hygiene to the universe, or will halitosis rule the day? DC: Blackest Teeth, a 22 part series coming next Summer!

WorstThings...take it easy. Why are you acting like such a jerk/bully on this guy?

He has an opinion that he sees this cover as being trashy. You don't. So..you then feel it okay to say he's projecting some sort of twisted sexuality. Jeez, a simple 'I don't see the cover the way you do' would have sufficed.

I don't see the cover as necessarily projecting a "trashy" nature, but certainly am able to look at it and see a different perspective to it.

I think it's perfectly reasonable that someone passing this cover on the stand would see it as provocative. Which is how comic book covers are meant to be drawn. To, y'know, get people to buy them.

Look at the depth of the image -- Zor-El's chin is behind his hand and Kara's shirt. For a zombie to be attacking someone, you'd think his face would be in hers. But instead it's down near her nether regions.

As soon as someone creates one, I'll point it out so you can go register your displeasure with that one too.
