New X-Men movie: Do you think it could happen?

With all the possible X-Men movies that might happen in the future, do you think a New X-Men movie could be possible?

I for one would be all for it. A movie starring X-23, Hellion, Surge, Rockslide, Mercury and Elixir would be cool to watch.

Unfortunately here would be the biggest problem: save for X-23 most of the New X-Men arent very well known outside the comic books. Sure Hellion, Rockslide and Mercury, and Dust were in Wolverine & the X-Men but they were small cameos.

So true believers would you like to see a New X-Men movie? If so which characters would you like too see on the team?

I don't see it happening. The Gen X movie was a failure. Casual fans won't watch it because they don't know any of the characters, and they will expect Wolverine, Cyclops, Storm, Rogue, and Jean. Hardcore X-fans won't support the fact that these new kids got a movie before the New Mutants. I just can't see it happening.

Their title was cancelled, twice and re-tooled as a Rogue led book. Their TV appearances consist of cameos and little more. What merchandise is their going to be? There isn't. No one wants a Mercury toilet seat cover or Rockslide toothbrush. It's not gonna happen, ever.

I'd love to see an animated New X-Men movie following similar lines to Kyle and Yost's run. I don't see anything live action happening for the characters, nobody knows who they are outside of comic book fans.

The Runaways also have amazing visuals (a dinosaur and flame thrower/gauntletts, plus a glowing chick) but they would be easier to produce then say, a Rockpile person who explodes, A liquidy silver bitch, A Wolf Cub, a lizard boy. AND, like I said, the New X-Men are too far back in line behind a zillion other more popular and recognizable X-Men tradesmarks.

I completely agree with you Swash, but I should point out that the latest Runaways volume has been put on hiatus for the foreseeable future. That's pretty much a cancellation and a relaunch once/if the movie comes out.

I would absolutely love a New X-Men movie. But no, theres no real chance of it happening. X-Men movies are written for movie goers, not comic book readers. Thats why the stories are all different, and use the most recognizable characters. So as much as I, a New X-Men fan, would love a New X-Men movie, its just not gona happen because the movie going audience that does not read comic books doesnt know who Hellion, Prodigy, Anole, or Elixir are.
