I know he's tied to Marvel seemingly forever, but I think a Bendis Batman mini, or series would be an interesting contrast with Morrison's Batman. Nobody can deny what he did for Daredevil, and he writes awesome street level characters, and Batman is kind of the ultimate street level character. With an artist like Maleev this could be killer

It would fit him very well. I haven't been impressed by his work on teams and events but like you said, street-level is a good match for him!

I enjoyed his BATMAN short story where he used the Citizen kane macguffic quite effectively!

And to the answer the thread question. YES.
I loved Bendis entire Daredevil run.
I would buy his Batman comics, He would have to tone down the Tarantino-esque dialogue a bit though.
Who wants batman monologuing about Burger king?

As much as I dislike alot of his work I do think his style would be a great fit on Batman.

I think he'd be good for Wonder Woman. He might even be able to get the book to sell.
But, yeah, I'd check out a Bendis Batman.

I think he'd work better on Detective than Batman.
But yeah, a Bendis/Maleev or Bendis/Lark Batman would be pretty cool, I think.

Think this thread belongs more in the Batman forum. But yeah, I would definitely like to see Bendis take a shot at Batman. I know some people don't care for Bendis' team books or other work but I don't think I've ever heard anyone speak negatively about his Daredevil work. The Bat-Universe and Daredevil's corner of the Marvel U are pretty comparable, so I think Bendis could fit right in on a Bat-title.

Yeah crap, that's the board I thought I was in when I posted it so anyone that knows how feel free to move it. I'm really surprised how many people would want to see this. I think a Morrison/quitely Batman and a Bendis/Maleev or Bendis/Lark Detective that is tied to the main story but a different interpretation of it would e perfect but I don't see Bendis leavind Marvel any time soon.

Thank God. While he probably would do a decent Batman story, I don't want Bendis anywhere NEAR the DCU.

There's no need for him in the DCU. That's what Johns is for, but his Spider Woman and Daredevil stuff as well as Powers lead me to believe he'd be an asset to the Batman universe

Make me a mod and I will deal with these jedi fools myself!
Bendis could be good on Batman, but I don't think he has any real interest in leaving Marvel so the point is kind of moot. I'd give the book a shot if he did jump ship, though.

Bendis won't be at Marvel forever. Someday, he'll make the jump over to DC. Probably after he's done with Avengers, unless Marvel gives him Amazing Spider-Man. But sooner or later, he's DC bound. And you just know DC will want to see what he can do with the Bat-franchise.
I'd be interested in what he'd do. Honestly? I think his Alfred would be freaking amazing. I just have the feeling he'd write an entertaining as hell Alfred.
My biggest concern would be how Bendis wrote Batman's villains. Bendis tends to write villains as stupid thugs, which for many is an accurate portrayal. But for others it's not, and he still writes them on the dumb side with only a few exceptions. I'm sure that'd be fine for Killer Croc. And I'm sure he'd break type for Joker and Penguin. But I'd worry how he'd write the likes of Scarecrow, Riddler, Mad Hatter, etc.

I don't know, Doc. Bendis has a sweetheart deal with Marvel. And I think he really likes it there. I would imagine as long as Joey Q is there, Bendis will be right there next to him.

I think Batman would have some really weird monologues if Bendis wrote him. So my answer would be "no".

Yeah, I'd like Bendis to be a writer for TT if he ever jumped over to DC. I mean, they haven't even sounded like kids since the Young Justice days.

I agree with you. I don't want Bendis near the DCU. His complex style of storytelling would be wasted on a genre of storytelling where the world is mostly black and white.
But he would be good on Batman and has expressed interest in tackling the character.

I actually dislike Bendis for the most part. His writing style is why I've all but abandoned Marvel. It kinda reminds me of an old guy trying to sound hip. I'm not totally crazy though, I do enjoy USM, Alias, and his run on Daredevil. I just don't enjoy what he's doing with the Marvel Universe as a whole.

If you like Alias and his run on Daredevil, I'm sure he'd do a similar Batman, and actually some old guys are actually kind of cool, and that's what I've always gotten out of Bendis in interviews. He seems like a really great guy.

Some old guys are cool, but old guys trying to sound hip, not so much.
I should reword that response though, I don't actually dislike Bendis as a person, I just dislike his dialogue. To me his characters kinda all sound the same. They're all cracking jokes and being genuinely funny, and it's hard to fault a guy that can write a good action sequence and something to make us laugh. But... sometimes it feels like EVERYONE in Marvel is a comedian when he writes.
Bendis as a person, yeah, he seems like a nice dude.

Bendis would probably write him the same way he wrote Iron Man. they're not terribly different characters IMO

Batman would have to start backhanding his supporting cast for talking too much if this ever happened.

A twenty page scene where Alfred, Robin, and Batman sit around a table in the Batcave as they debate the potential choices for that night's dinner.

If it would be anything like his run on Daredevil, it would be pretty interesting, if not outright fantastic.

He would be brilliant on a Batman book.
I suspect he will get a shot at the EIC-job somewhere in the future so that might be a problem.
OK, here's a deal: you DC guys get to borrow Bendis for a couple of years to make an awesome Batman-run and we get Jim Lee back on X-Men during that period. ;-)

I'd rather see Bendis on Superman, as I thought his Daredevil run was weak. But, that doesn't mean I don't think he could do a great Batman run; I just think that Superman may play more to his strengths.

Sorry for being off topic, but did you enjoy Brubakers run? I've enjoyed Daredevil since the Kevin Smith reboot, but I think the Bendis era was probably the best.

I would agree with you, if he were just doing cutesy dialogue (which is a major fault of some authors I won't mention). But he actually fleshes out characters and writes good stories. Bendis has admitted to being a fan of David Mammett so I understand where he is coming from.
Bendis as a person, yeah, he seems like a nice dude.
I met him at a con about five years ago. I actually went to the con for the sole purpose of meeting him (and kissing his behind). Nice guy but he does not suffer fools. During a Q&A sesssion I started off my question with a platitude of flattery and he just cut me off and asked me what my question was. But he is a very intelligent man.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Can Bendis do a good Batman run? Most probably. Do I want to see it? Not particularly. I always thought of Bendis as somone who is either very good with his own characters, or as someone who is called in to make weak underwritten characters credible. Batman is already in fine hands and his mythos is pretty strong.
But yes he would do alot of good for some characters if he jumped ship to DCU.

I think that Bendis could write an interesting Batman, but I'm not sure he could write something memorable. I'm sure many many people will bash hom to death. He could maybe write dome other character that he prefers, cause I am sure I have read an interview saying something between the lines of "People want me to write Batman but I don't like him".

Yeah, I did; though I felt the resolution of Bendis story was a WTF moment.

Yeah Brubaker's run was good. It was a nice safe follow up to Bendis, but Bendis' run was clasic and probably second to Sandman as my favorite run in comics ever.
