Detroit Lions are leading the Washington Redskins 13-0 at Ford Field at half time.
It looks as if Detroit's 19 game losing streak might actually end.
Do you believe in miracles?

Strange that someone in Scotland would start this thread.lol
As someone once said to me about my high school team while beating our rivals, "Don't get happy yet. They could f--k up a wet dream."

I'm a Kansas City fan.... so miracles don't ever happen for teams like KC and the Lions.

win or lose, everyday without that asshat matt millen is a blessing that can make even an atheist thank the gods.
they may have to suffer for the sin of his evil idiot presence in the past but lets hope the football gods eventually forgive them and their fans, and they can go back to the mediocre team we all know.

Detroit score a touchdown with 5:31 remaining in the 4th quarter although they failed with a 2 point conversion.
19-7. Things are looking VERY good.

West Mantooth thought it was strange that a Scot would start up a thread about American football.
Laurence Tynes, the kicker for the New York Giants was born in the same town as me, Greenock.
The Scottish Claymores won a World Bowl and were defeated in another so Scotland isn't exactly a backwater for American football.

It's now 19-14 with 2:36 of the game to go after Washington scored a touchdown and extra point.

The lions have break their losing streaks SOONER or later.
By BREAKING it, they just become another AWFUL NFL team. If they KEEP it, they stay interesting.
So...by winning, they lose.
Perfect.

I'm happy for the team and Lion fans. Like most football fans I watched with a bit of morbid curiousity as Detroit went to 0-16 last year. I'm glad that they got this win as they can start moving forward.
I'm a Bears fan and we're trailing Seattle by 7, meh. :frown:

I'm a Minnesota fan for the longest time.
...and i still can not believe we hired Farve as our QB. It is like asking Rommel to lead our tank forces in Germany during WW2. At least he seems to be doing a good job,if a bit restrained. Darn it. Can't be mad at him for doing a good job. Grrr.

and they can go back to the mediocre team we all know.
And that is precisely where they are headed. They'll never win enough big games to get to the Super Bowl as long as the team is run by someone in charge of the purse strings. And the team will continue to be run that way as long as Bill Ford Senior is in charge of the team. Unfortunately for Detroit fans, that probably means until Senior dies.

Congrats to the Lions for winning their first game in 21 months.
How many months has it been since Detroit won a playoff game? And how many months before that win?
And congrats, too, to the Minnesota Vikings, who won behind the great throwing arm of Brett Favre. First 300-yard passer for Minnesota in about 4 years.

Detroit haven't won a playoff game since the 1991 season and that one win was their ONLY playoff win since the NFL - AFL merger.

I think their next goal should be to win a game that isn't blacked out in Detroit. But you've got to start somewhere.
