I'm not going to dive into any major spoilers... yet. I'll give people the chance to see it first.
Anyway, I liked it. Not a great movie, but a very good one. I only wish they had gone more into the anxiety Greer was feeling later on in the movie and having to deal with be the only human walking around.
My only complaint was the resolution to the problem and how Greer was able took care of it. Big time plot-hole, especially in remembering what was said earlier in the movie. Even with that though, I still enjoyed it quite a bit and will probably buy it when it comes out on DVD, especially if there's an extended version of it.
Overall, I give a solid B+. (I like Bruce Willis, so for that fact alone it gets a slightly better grade from me.)

how do you feel about the points this person (http://likeawhisper.wordpress.com/2009/09/26/surrogate-movie-review-minor-spoilers/)comes up with? (minor spoilers) i don't expect you to agree with all or even any, but i'm curious

They're VERY wrong on more than a few points in the "review", which makes me wonder if they actually saw it and they culled it all from other reviews or they stepped out a few times during the movie.
Just to point out what they're wrong about, without giving away much in spoilers: It wasn't a plane involved in the crash. He's "unquestioningly" wrong about Greer's wife being the only one. Not all non-surrogates are poor.
we should have gone to see this today.
instead, since we were "kid-free" we opted for the "R" rated "Pandorum"
feh.
hopefully, we'll see Surrogates next weekend, and I'll let you know what I think.

hmm.. I'm a bit torn having read the book and obviously comparing the two. There were some major changes, but I don't think they were bad choices. It's one of those instances where the movie is different, yet still does good. It told its own story and did it pretty well, which makes it far from disappointing overall. I enjoyed how the surries looked pretty fake and stiff. They definatley did a nice subtle job there, with older models sticking out even more.
There were some twists and characters done quite different. Maybe most disappointing is no Steeplejack and the lightning suit is reduced to just a gun. Sadly the unhappy ending for a certain two characters was not left intact. Though at least it wasn't too sicky sweet.
Plus the film was moved from Atlanta to Boston, where it was filmed. This was pretty strange as I'm usually for sticking to the original settings yet also look forward to seeing more films done here in Boston. Plus it didn't help set the story as far in the future as I thought when things looked somewhat still modern. It was kinda fun to see stuff like a Fenway Park banner since we walked by there on the way to the thearter. Plus we got to hear Willis say "Dorchestah".

Never having read the comic, I had nothing to base the movie against.
