Do you have any relatives, friends, or room mates that read X-Men as you do?
Do you share the books, or buy them seperately?
Do you agree/disagree on the certain characters, storylines?
Do you go to conventions and dress up like your favorite characters together?
...Discuss.

I have a Cousin who was really big into X-men, and 2099 in the 90's.

My son reads Forever and my daughter read some of New Exiles. She doesn't read every issue though.

My family thinks comics are a waste of money, even though my dad read them as a kid.

no, but i have done a good job of making sage a household name amongst my peers, regardless of their comics reading habits.

I forgot my brother reads a little Batman. I tried to get him to read No Man's Land and Whedon's Astonishing but he hasn't. He has the novelization of NML, though. I doubt he'll ever get to X-Men.

I am going to force my wife to read my Astonishing X-men omnibus when it arrives. Even if I must resort to physical violence.

Besides the superhero movies we watch together, my daughter is slowly being weened into comics (on her own accord). She knows I love Iceman, and recognizes most of the major Marvel superheroes whenever she sees them.

I'm the only one that reads comics.
My aunt scolds me that they're evil, but she's cuckoo, so...

Yes, I got my roommate hooked on the X-Men via Grant Morrison. He's also reading my Sandman trades, as well as Batman and Robin.

My partner accompanies me to the comic shop every Wednesday and immediately tries to stealmy comics from me to read for himself once I've purchased them.
Of course, I don't care THAT much since I can actually say that my lover is someone I get to share, bitch, moan, excite over comics with.
Its a rare commodity to NOT get the eye roll in typical conversation, am I right?
Nobody in my family reads comics and certainly do any of my friends. I wish I had a friend who read them in real life! It sucks not being able to discuss them with anyone except logging onto this place.

My hubby used to be a big X-men fan, but became severely disenchanted sometime in the 90s. He rolls his eyes a lot when I tell him about the latest Marvel antics, but is patiently comforting when I'm depressed about Nightcrawler. He is all for a Kurt/Logan road trip mini series and thinks Deadpool and Aunt May should tag along. There would be shenanigans with a body-swapping ray.

I have ONE friend (not including my partner) who follows X-Men and he gets on my back when I wanna talk with him about them saying "Aww c'mon, what am I, JUST your comic book friend?"
Uh ....yes.

I'm going to try to get my bf to start reading Joss's Astonishing. He doesn't read comics, but he said he won't start a series unless he can get it at issue 1. I figure, this will help acclimate him to comics, and especially the X-Men. Even though I try to tell him that not all series start at #1.

I've never met another single person who reads comics in my life, outside of the current comic shop i go to in London(I try to avoid talking to the people in there, they go on and on) They were not very popular in Ireland. Most of my friends knew the X-Men from TAS though.

Ya..SCHOOL that bf of yours!
Tell him not to be a stooge and start reading.
Also...I think that's an excellent book selection. Good writing.

I hear you. I'm in that same boat... I have one friend that's into comics, but he's so bullheaded about how he perceives characters now, compared to when he use to read them back in the 90's, I can't even have a conversation with him without having an hour-long debate.
Even when I go to the comic shop and I listen to guys talk about books that I don't read, it still sucks. But then I guess it's for the best, because at least here you can disagree and call people "doodee head" if they don't agree with you, and not worry about getting into any physical confrontations.

I convinced my girlfriend to start reading comics. So I have some one to talk about comics with. She reads :X-Men: Legacy, Black Panther, X-Factor, X-Force, New Mutants, Cable, War Machine, Marvel Divas, Runaways, Uncanny X-Men, Kick Ass & Dark Avengers.
Also I got one of brother to read comics. He reads basically everything I give him to (the last thing he read was X-men: MC).

HA!!!
That's pretty funny. My partner, on occassion, will argue the 'paradox' issues and the 'how to/how come's regarding Illyana and her rather convoluted past/powers and I tell him "If WE are going to WORK....WE can't talk about this. Just know that she's awesome and brings me JOY! Okay I love you."

My roomies refuse to read comics. Though I got a friend at work to read the X-23 minis! My dad is who got me into comics but he doesn't actually read them. He just likes the X-men cartoons and movies. I just made the step into comics myself.

LOL I totally agree, I go in and get out as quickly as possible.
I usually am really quiet and everyone is in there talking about comics and it just sounds so weird and kinda lame.

And then you go home and talk about comics on the internet!
Me too! Apart from the occaisional "How'd you like this Runaways issue?" with my sis, I know no one else.
Almost all the customers that go to my shop (about 90%) are older middle aged white men usually in business suits lol It's pretty random and they are geeky and nerdy as hell when they open their mouths and start talking about some random DC mini series.
It's funny because they are white collar but I can't imagine how different they must act around their office. You probably wouldn't guess it if they were your coworker.
I don't think I have seen anyone my age in my LCS, which I don't know if that should depress me or not. What if I'm one of those future business men?? OMG I'm going to die now. :'/ I'll probably still look cute though so it's all good.
Either way I wish I could be blessed with a comic book buddy! I think it would be a lot of fun. Oh well.

Yes exactly. I'm just saying I guess it's unatural for me to see people talking about comic books since it's nothing I do out loud.
Nothing wrong with it, I just find it strange to me. But yeah I have no other alternative but to post and discuss comic books on CBR because I have no one to discuss with in person.

haha, same here. There's this Xbox 360 game called 1 vs 100(its like an online version of who wants to be a millionaire except more complicated) and whenever a comic book question comes up I always get it right and my friends are like wtf? Some of my friends are into the movies, cartoons, and games but not the comics so I help them out with understanding the characters better. I'm cool with that but it would be pretty cool if I was friends with actual readers of the comics.

My answers below:
Do you have any relatives, friends, or room mates that read X-Men as you do? My youngest brother used to, but not really anymore. My wife reads most of my comics after I do, though, and enjoys them quite a bit.
Do you share the books, or buy them seperately? Share. As mentioned, my wife reads mine.
Do you agree/disagree on the certain characters, storylines? Usually, but not always. She thought Whedon and Cassaday's Astonishing run wasn't all that, but I really enjoyed it. We both loved the Morrison New X-men run, though. For awhile she was much more into the Avengers books than the X-books, but I think she's starting to come back around to the mutants (who have always been my favorites).
Do you go to conventions and dress up like your favorite characters together? No chance. Not dissing anyone who does that, but definitely not our thing. I have been Wolverine for Halloween before, though.
...Discuss.

My brother has read comics as long as I have. We're twins so there's that. My bf reads comics also.
My co-worker reads comics and we discuss comics a lot. He's a DC fan though, but I did introduce him to Lois London today. He had never heard of her. He reads some Marvel but his fav's are DC (superman, green lantern, etc).
For two years now when I go to the comic store I'm usually dressed up and wearing a tie. I usually go to the comic store when I'm on lunch or right after I get off work.
Most of the locals at the comic store appear to be the more stereotypical geeks.
But I'm sure they're cool people.

Comics aren't very popular where I live, but I only had 2 known persons who I can talk about them and discuss them (apart from the internet)...
- And old friend of mine, who doesn't read them anymore, but love them 10 years ago. Specially the X-Men, which is cool cause he knows all about the X-Men history, I've had 3 hours conversation with him about Psylocke's history. And I keep him updated with what's going on now, but he still doesn't read them now...
- A second one who I got into comics, I recommended him to read Watchmen and V for Vendetta and he loved them. I then give him Morrison's X-Men and love it too. But he only read comics I make him read (cause I know his taste) so the discussion is pretty much limited.
I often discuss them a lot (and we share the same taste) with the guy who sells them to me on my town's comicshop.
