View Full Version : What Does Wonder Woman Find Funny?
Flying Saucers Over Oz

Recently, as a quasi-joke, posted something imagining Diana was watching a Patton Oswalt DVD and not quite 'getting' the humor. Not meant as a slam against Patton Oswalt, who's one of my favorite comedians, and it was meant as sorta humorous, but I could see Diana watching him, not really upset but more, "Why is this supposed to be funny? It's so angry and sad...".
Then again, given that Diana's from a neo-Classical Greek warrior Amazon background, I have the disturbing suspicion she'd be amused by 'dumb' humor: People bumping into each other and falling down and farting. I hope I'm underestimating her, but still... I mean, have you ever seen an Italian comedy?
We know Diana has a very dry, understated sense of humor herself. But what sort of comedy do you think most amuses her?

Why is assuming that she enjoys physical comedy, underestimating her?
If anything, I imagine her disliking someone like Andrew Dice Clay, or raunchy comedy that entirely depends on sexism or racist jokes to make people laugh, but purely physica humor, or even farting and belching?
Nah, I can't imagine her seeing herself as "too smart" for that.

Seeing guys try very hard to be only looking at her eyes might be privately amusing...

She's a closet Mr. Bean (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JizFAhEpiEc) fan.

I can see Diana as a fan of something the parodies sexism while at the same time explaining "no, see, this is bad" in Man's World, something like Sarah Haskins.

I think she would enjoy Satirical Sketch Comedy in General.

I have always thought of her of having an extremely dry sense of humor. Like desert dry.

Men.
Seriously though I think she would have an appreciation for light romantic comedy fare, lighthearted pieces that take a good natured poke at the differences between men and women.

Old Marx Brothers movies and the Ernest series.
Also she finds those little ears on Batman's mask to be hilarious and is constatly biting her lip when he's in sight.

Awful puns, parodies and wordplay...

Satire and dry humor seem like her style. I think Lois says she also makes great toilet humor jokes in WW #170, which is kinda weird to picture.

I think she'd love "Who's on first." and stuff like that. Maybe The Thin Man

She's normally fairly restrained, but I feel her sense of humor should lean more toward more bawdy and crude stuff.
She WAS raised by Amazons, after all. Amazons that had thousands of years to progress culturally, but still Amazons.
So, while she might not roar with laughter, I think she enjoys a good dirty limerick.

If she likes dirty limericks ,
Does that make her Dirty Diana?

Refresh my memory,
Do we have any examples of Diana telling a joke?

I think she'd love Arrested Development, and a few other things, but I wonder if cultural/historical barriers might prove an obstacle to some comedy.

Well, there's the Megalodon Shark incident, but having a dry humour usually manifests itself in wry observations, rather than straight out jokes. I think Diana shares a sense of humour with her mother, and is very frequently funny/wearing a smirk.
