Mass Effect FTW!

Diablo would also be good.

The key to making a good game adaption would be, in my opinion, to adapt the story, not the game mechanics. Which somehow they always do. I groaned when they somehow worked a frelling map into the Silent Hill movie.

I once wrote a detailed treatment, tech script, and screenplay (just to be sure) for a live-action Legend of Zelda trilogy. At the time I felt it was really quite good and, after reading it fairly recently, stood by it with a few tweaks considered. It's constructed in a way that--worst case scenario, if only one of the films were made, it would stand alone nicely.

None that would be as satisfying as the games. Really, Mass Effect? How are you going to make a movie that is better than the game itself? It'd just be the game, but with real human heads and worse voices.

Legacy of Zelda and Diablo would likely result in bland, fairly generic fantasy movies in an attempt to appeal to a wider audience. Not to say that making a good film out of them is impossible, just that it would be hard.

In the other hand, Bioshock is relatively unknown outside of the gaming community and has some great potential to make a standalone movie.

Even though it isn't on the list I always thought Dead Rising would have made a good movie. They would have to cut some parts though.

That's because it is an unofficial game adaption of Dawn Of the Dead in the first place.

Metroid would make a great movie. Horror sci-fi with a female protagonist.

As long as Uwe Boll stays away from them, any move has a slim chance.

That being said, my favorite series is Suikoden. Seeing a movie on it would be awesome, but difficult considering the 108 stars of destiny that would need to be incorporated. Figure most movies aren't even 108 minutes long, that doesn't do much for character development.

I loved 80's - 90's action films. I'm gonna vote for Contra! ...or maybe Final Fight.

I wouldn't exactly base it on the game but a movie in the Fallout world could be alright.
I think anything has the chance when companies allow someone to craft a good/fun film instead of just worrying about profit margins.

I'd love to see a metroid movie.

starring some blond chick who fits in a tight suit well. also must know how to act. sick of video game movies w/ bad acting & story. it's like hollywood thinks all video game players are 12 year olds who can't tell the difference.

Judging by his recent projects it appears Boll is moving away from video game films.

Besides, it's not like any video game company would ever put one of their major franchises in his hands. Nah, they'd give it to a more successful if equally talentless hack like Paul W. S. Anderson.

None, games do not make for great films, the best they can go for is ok films but never great ones, ever.

If you read the latest Game Informer magazine, you'll find that Hollywood has started to finally take video games seriously after they saw the films based off of comics. Now, instead of just letting the producers do what ever they want with the film, the developers are going to start getting involved with the process. The movie that holds the most weight with it--whether or not the direction is a success--is Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.

There is also a World of Warcraft film in production with the talents who brought you Dark Knight and Spider-Man. It's not that video games make terrible movies, it's that nobody has taken games serious enough to make them worthwhile.

I meant, turns out youy can take an amusement park ride and turn it into two good movies and a horrible third one, so why wouldn't you be able to do the same with video games? It's just that it hasn't really been tried on a serious level.

I think the first KOTOR storyline would of been great as a film, especially with the ending. Would of been much better than most of the prequels no doubt.
