I read many complaints online that Spider-Man whines, most of those who complain read other Marvel Comics, no one ever said anything about other heroes whining in Marvel Universe, Why?
I can name several other heroes who whined during their run, but I'll wait for your naming those you know who whine and those who don't

I got my hands on the Captain America run of the last 60s and 70s recently and it's basically 22 issues of Cap fighting and whining about the good old days and not "fitting in". Falcon also whine a lot about if Cap will take him seriously, about if Cap sees him as equal or that maybe Cap doesn't need him. It's gay.
Apart from that, great run!

But seriously, I love comic sidekicks who dont want to be treated as one. Nightwing comes to mind. As well as Bucky Barnes, Iron Fist or Jim Rhodes.

Dick Grayson in a way left Bruce because he was growing up. I would have loved to have seen him react as Batman's partner when he was older as Nightwing. Around the storyline "Year 3" when they introduced Tim Drake as the new Robin, there was a few issues with Batman and Nightwing together and they looked like a dynamite team. Except for Powerman and Iron Fist, I've rarely seen a duo where the two are equals, you know, two kickass professionals at the top of their games. A duo I would like to see would be Hawkeye and Moon Knight.

Black Bolt can't whine literally. And what do you mean Hulk doesn't whine? That's all he does a good deal of the time. "Puny humans don't leave Hulk alone", "Puny humans hurt Hulk", etc.
Top 10 whiners (not necessarily in order):
Spidey
Daredevil
Rogue
Wonder Man
Silver Surfer
Nightcrawler
Steve Rogers
The Thing
Hulk
Iceman
Of course, not all writers make them whining non-stop. And villains whine even more often than heroes.
Oh, and I like nearly all the characters on my list, so don't whine:biggrin:

Whine/Whined:
Spider-Man ("Joe Kelly" still make him a whiner, I'm happy the others decrease this guy whining level)
Silver Surfer (Does this one still whine?)
Steve Rogers (He's already mentioned to have whined in the Silver Age, I'm glad I'm not the first to mention this as a fact)
Iron Man (If you consider the "it's my fault" rant whining then you shouldn't deny him, even when he got crippled he whined, he whined too much)
Rhodey was a whiner when he feared Tony will take the role back and steal the glory away from him
Hulk "Omega Alpha" said enough about it, at least in savage green hulk form he does
Bruce Banner (his whine is sensible though, imagine yourself carrying an uncontrollable monster)
Thor (In issue 600, the story written by "Stan Lee" he whined about how tired he is from being summoned and relied on too much)
DareDevil (every time he loses one of his girlfriends he whines too much)
Howard the Duck (Is he forgotten? He wanted to commit suicide on this gross new world)
Moon Knight (I'm giving up, I can't do this anymore, WAAAH, WAAAH. Many heroes wanted to give their roles as heroes up)
Ben Grimm (I'm a monster, leave me alone huraah hurraah)
Johnny Storm (Crystal, oh when shall though meet again)
"Sue Storm" ranted too much on her husband keeping her away (she does have a point though)
Sub-Mariner (Surface Dwellers, I don't trust them. YAP YAP)
Been meaning to add Cyclops the whole time thinking, for some reason I forgot to type him. He whined plenty after his wife died (every time she dies)
I don't know if "Reed Richard" ever whined

Have to disagree. Cyclops whined about EVERYTHING from 1975-2007. He's only recently grown a pair and began taking matters into his own hands rather than blaming others for his shortcomings.

Daredevil is what we would call proto-Emo. This guy has more heartaches and pity-parties than some disaffected kid wearing a Jimmy Eats World shirt sipping on a Starbucks coffee in a vague attempt to drown his life's sorrows while hanging out at a Dashboard concert.
And we love him for it.

I think his whining period started when Jean died. I remember when he left the X-Men 'cause he had to "find himself". Other than that he was a fine leader, it wasn't especially easy to put a team of upstarts into an efficiant fighting squad.
But in a way, Scott's whining is part of his charm.

So funny. It also lead to Jones quitting, then Falcon taking his place as Cap's sidekick. Then Falcon always questioning his role. Then Steve whine about Sharon being too far away on SHIELD missions and the guy needs her to make him supper. All this leading to the switch to the Nomad role.
Then he whine about the Nomad cape. Awesome.

You know, those disaffected kids happen to be relatively privileged white suburbanites who've had every basic physical and emotional need catered to all their lives and they're still pissed off.
Daredevil, on the other hand, has had a genuinely crappy life by real-world standards. His girlfriends (and wife) are fated to either die or turn out horribly screwed up in the end, he can't do much more than make a dent in the corrupt criminal machine that controls his neighborhood, and much of the time actually accomplishing something good just means the bad guys will hit even harder next time. Haven't seen him threaten to slit his wrists or write depressing poetry; no, he just cuts himself off from everyone and retreats into being Daredevil, coincidentally ratcheting up the violence he inflicts on street toughs as his life continues to spiral out of control.
Frankly, I wouldn't have handled that crap as good as Matt Murdock has. I'd have either done myself in years ago or tricked some two-bit hood into doing it for me. (Why pay someone to kill you if you've pissed off enough people that'd be more than happy to do you in for free?)

Mutants, in general, yes.

Rachel's character arc (with Claremont specially):
1985: Comes to 616, is shocked and angry to see her daddy with another woman; whines and dresses like her mommy, taking her codename too; eventually gets over it.
2004: Comes to 616, is shocked and angry to see her daddy with another woman; whines about it and dresses like her mommy, taking her codename too; eventually gets over it.
Add the whining to the (unintentional?) incestuous vibe; I mean, her reaction after being angry that her daddy is with another woman is dress like her mommy? And there you have it.

SO true! My roomate and I tried to list all the X-Men that ever had a job: I think we came up to three or four.
"BOO HOO! Us supermodel glamor-muties have it so rough in our mansion/island/secret headquaters!
If only those racist humans would accept us as equals (despite us never having had a human on any of our twelve X-teams).
We must console ourselves with our unlimited bank accounts and fantastic powers....the horror of it all!"
Mutants take the whine to a whole new level.

I dunno, I think Clint has been whining a bit lately.
"I'm alive again? What the hell, man, not cool!"

Mutants take the whine to a whole new level.Ha! Well said.

Hm, let's see...
Deadpool: Sometimes, at least. He gets all depressed about being ugly and crazy.
Kick-Ass: "Man, I got beat up, bad. I'm never putting on my suit EVER again."
Spider-Woman: In her new motion comic, I remember her going something like "You think Wolverine has it bad? I have it worse.". I've yet to really see how...
Sentry: "B-b-but the Void! ;-; (http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/40/397941-53290-sentry_super.jpg)"

The grand majority of Marvel heroes whine. It just comes with the whole thing.
The big deal with Marvel heroes going back to the '60s is that they have "problems". If they didn't whine about them constantly (especially in the early days), how would anyone know how big their "problems" are.

Captain Marvel. The real Mar-Vell one.
You really outta check out original CM #50-62, highly reccommened, still cheap.
The complexity of the character's pyche after being seperated from Jones has been copied for years, make your own mind up, remember it's dated work but still stands up.

Scott was whining well before Jean's death. Check out the early Lee/Kirby issues of X-Men. "Woe is me. I can never take my glasses off...how oculd a woman like Jean ever love me...there's so much pressure on me to lead...must I always be seperate from humanity..."

Cap was never too whiny, although he had his moments. Generally though, he carried himself with an air of dignity and respect that offset his occasional whinyness.

Read my post. I'm saying Cap's not whiny. There are moments here and there where he gets a little distressed or disheartened, but for the most part he's a non-whiner.
The thread question was who does and doesn't whine. You listed Mar-Vell but didn't state whether he's a whiner or non-whiner. So I posted stated that I don't think he's a whiner.
Stop being so defensive. I was actually supporting Mar-Vell.
Like it says above, Barry Sanders never whined.

Wolverine whines a LOT. "Oh, I'm a terrible beast killing machine and Jean will never love me so I'll bitch and moan and be a jerk to Cyclops." Granted he does have some legit excuses, but still. And he fully deserved to get smacked around in the beginning of Astonishing. He's kind of a tool.

Read this week's X-Men: The Confession: 22 pages of Cyclops and emma Frost standing in a room whining about what awful people they are and how they dont deserve each other and.....
It's like a year's worth of Spider-Man self-pity condensed down, rolled up and smacked over your nose.
Bad! Bad reader- no action for you!

Moon Knight. GOD! All he does is whine, but that's the beuty of him. But GOD!
Mutants: Sure they are oppresed. But it's like every oppresed minority just finding ways to say that you are a racist.
Hulk. "Punny humans leave alone Hulk, all Hulk wants is to be left alone"
Banner, though justified, but his whining is getting him to a dead end sometimes.
