View Full Version : Your avatar versus Superman!

Because Superman's the pinnacle of being...uhm...super, it would be nice to see if your avatar (a reflection of your favorite character) were to battle him. Would Superman win? Or would he suffer utter defeat on the hands of your av?

RULES:
You all can play as long as your avatar is NOT (1) Superman (2) A real person

I'll start.

Zatanna is magic. Superman is vulnerable (not necessarily weak, but vulnerable) to magic. A single "Namrepus Pots" is enough to take him down.

Provided she can get past the her first reverse word before Superman shushes her at super-speed.

As for Batman versus Superman, it's been done a million times. Take your pick.

He'd stare at the women in my avatar, mouth agape while some Amazons beat him with magical billy clubs.

Laura would put some Kryptonite sauce on her claws and cut him to shreds

Despite the blessed putter, I don't see Silent Bob as a match for Superman.

Hmmm I dunno, obviously the magic thing works in his favor but he's barely competent........I'll give it to Supes.

Gorosaurus would gather his allies on Monster Island; Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, Baragon, Manda, and Kumonga to dogpile on Superman. Superman wins, but takes them all to their own planet where they can not be bothered by humans and their armies.

I have to give it to Dark Phoenix

Unless his speed gets him the advantage and he knocks her head off first

It's Kingdom Come Superman. Not technically the same guy. So it's fair.

And KC Supes kicks mainstream Superman's ass with ease, and marries him to Billy Batson.

I think Vic has the good sense not to tangle with Superman and they both go for a beer instead?

In a non-"the guy whose name is on the cover of the book always wins" environment, my avatar would have vanquished Superman a long time ago.

There's an aweful lot of kryptonite going around in this thread. Where do your avatars get that from? C'mon, Ollie Queen vs. Supes, Ollie would win with a kryptonite arrow?! A little kitten would win against Superman if it had kryptonite on it's collar. How about some creativity, folks?

So, first on, J'onn is not my favorite character, but my next-to-favorite one. My favorite's Supes himself. So, this should be interesting.

Well, J'onn could avoid being hit by Superman by changing his body's density and having Supes' fist go right through him like through thin air. Then he could do the extreme opposite, increase his density to hit back hard. He could also use his telepathy to attack Supes mind, now that's a weakness of Superman that's not overused!
Then, Superman would use his heat-vision to set a flaming circle around J'onn, causing the Martian to panic. In that state, Superman could hit him hard without J'onn being able to do anything about it.
Cause, in the end, Superman wins. He's Superman. It's his damned job to always win!

But it would be an interesting question WHY the two of them would actually fight. I smell a story idea coming up.

I suspect that if the Spot sat down and spent a decent amount of time coming up with a creative and effective plan he'd stand a decent chance. He can't hurt Superman directly, but he can reflect a lot of Supes powers back at him. You just know that the Spot would try to do the "heat vision goes in one spot, shoots out the other spot and hits Superman" trick at least once.

At the very least, his instant transportation powers makes "Go find some Kryptonite and use it" a plausible strategy, since he doesn't need to be carrying it with him and he can go find a random lead lined box in a random foreign country to hide in whenever he needs a break.

Of course, this is the Spot. If he actually had anything resembling common sense, I wouldn't have him as my avatar. So in any realistic fight, Superman wins fairly easily. Among other things, the Spot would try to use his trademark "Open hundreds of wormholes around him and punch form every direction" tactic. Which is effective against Spiderman, but when used on Superman results in the Spot breaking his hands multiple times.

BL Martian Manhunter against Superman? He's as powerful as Superman (my favorite line in a long time), plus has telepathy and since he's already dead, it's impossible for Superman to beat him. (Until Blackest Night is over.)

I'd say the Flash is on about equal footing with Superman, but it all depends on Superman's power-level-of-the-day. If they're equal in speed, then Flash is boned. If Flash is even just a little faster, then he can outrun Superman, run around the Earth a few times, build up a ton of speed and smash into Supes, if Supes doesn't stop him with heat vision or freeze breath first. So, either way, really.

Since his major upgrades Werewolf By Night is strong enough to choke out the Hulk, trade punches, and dodge many of his strikes/attacks. Which means he could stand a chance against Juggernaut and Thing in a fight. If the Werewolf fought Superman he could put up a decent fight but Superman would definitely win.

Scarlet Witch alters reality. Plus she taps into chaos magic and magic is Superman's other weakness. She'd also need to be supplanted into the DCU, which would mean tapping into the power of the Lords of Chaos like she did in JLA/Avengers. So technically she'd have the power to kick Supes across the length of the DCU....

...but Supes always finds a way to win, so he'd come out on top in the end.

I think they actually did this match-up in an issue of the last run of "JSA" not too many years ago, but I'll be damned if I can remember how it went.

Anyway, assuming it's mano-a-mano, with Superman having no time to prepare and go grab some Nth metal knuckles or something like that...I think Big Blue would have a hard time against Craddock. He can turn intangible anytime Supes tries to hit him and his spectral energy is magical and therefore can presumably harm Supes.

Utilitarian modifies the cosmic rod powering his transport tubes (yes, he's a teleport surfer) to emit red rays, bleeds off Superman's powers while evading his attack (love that armor's flight systems), and then finishes him off...though I can't imagine why Utilitarian would ever do such a thing.

To go with the flow...I'm going to have to say, Captain America with kryptonight shield and outfit for the win. While giving Hitler the chokehold at the same time.

The most I could do is transform into a wolf, no matter how big & bad it is, I don't stand a chance. The least I could do is smoke and say sarcastic lines, which might do more harm than the wolf. Haha!

the female of the species is more deadly than the male. Also, she's always been smarter than Clark. Clark is good with the book learnin' not the practical learnin'

My current one -- not a chance. Aang has some neat tricks, but he's not anywhere near that power level, nor does he have the speed to keep up.

My old av (Exiles-Morph) would be a bit more of a match. Can't punch him out, but by the same token I don't think he could beat up Supes.

Mines wouldn't do much. It's only a bit of grafitti after all

But as for V himself , nah Supes would do him

Superman vs. the 7th Doctor?
The absolute master of cunning, devious schemes and planning to a degree that would make the likes of Lord Vetinari and Batman gush like a schoolgirl?

Kal-El has, sadly, no chance.

Damian as an adult has a regeneration factor so he could probably stand a chance to Superman, even if he gets heat visioned or punched.

I'm also going to ignore the Kryptonite factor, because basically anyone with kryptonite technically would win, and I think that defeats the whole purpose of this thread ;)

So Superman probably wins, but not by much.
