Daredevil fans,
I'm looking for some great Daredevil trades to read. I know that the Bendis and Brubaker runs are amazing, but I looking for some shorter stories that are amazing reads and also "affordable".
Does anyone have any suggestions? I am looking for some old school stuff. Maybe some retellings of his origins or his ninja training. Stuff like that.

Ninja Training: DareDevil Ninja (not old school)
Origin: DareDevil Man Without Fear (Miller & Romita jr, not old school in the 90s)

Nice. I'll be checking out those tomorrow in my LCS.
Also, which trade has Daredevil #181?

I personally recommend Daredevil: Redemption tpb. A wonderful 6 issue mini series based on a the Robin Hood Hill murder. It focuses on Matt as a lawyer and the story was dark and pretty engaging. Highly recommended.

Born Again by Frank Miller and David Mazzuccheli. It doesn't feature DD's origin or ninja training, but it is the best DD story of all time. (Actually, the best Marvel story of all time, in my opinion.) This is essential for any DD fan to read.
DD: The Man Without Fear by Miller and JR, Jr. This is a reworking of DD's origin which does show Matt being trained by Stick. It's also very good, but not as good as Born Again.
All of Miller's run is definitely worth picking up as it defined the character and forms the foundation of all subsequent DD material, except Karl Kesel's I guess.

I would have to agree with Born Again. It's a great read, and made me a big fan of Daredevil

I would. It's one of the better Noir titles. Waiting for the HC

Can't go wrong with Born Again. You can pick it up in trade form.
Also in tpb...Miller's run: Gang War, Marked For Death plus you may want to check out Loves Labor Lost from about that time with Mazzucchelli art.
The Kevin Smith/Joe Q arc maybe worth a look. It set off the Marvel Knights boom and revitalized the character. It's a rather complete story. Bendis and Maleev took it back to the top and Bru/Lark kept it there. I would say it is harder to get a self-contained story or arc from Bendis/Maleev's run though with his "decompressed" writing style. The whole run though...is definitely worth checking out.

What about among the best DD stories? Where does it rank in that kind of company?

Now that we're at the recommendation of very valuable DD, how good is powerless? Is it worthy?

It wouldn't come near a DD top ten list for me. As far as the NOIR titles, it may have worked pretty well. Compared to Miller/Bendis/Nocenti/Brubaker's best though, I don't think it fares too well. Nothing against it. I read the first couple of issues and enjoyed it. Just as I enjoy some of the "What If" stories, but if you are really looking for the best of the best, I would not recommend going with the Noir Title.
