I enjoyed the Brainiac story arc that eventually led to New Krypton, and I'm enjoying the WONKrypton series.
But
I don't think the Supeman franchise can tolerate 100,000 other superfolks forever. I think after they've mined all the obvious stories out of New Krypton, it will either be killed off or sent to orbit a red sun somewhere.
In the Silver Age Kandor was eventually enlarged and then it's people were quickly sent off into space, it was never heard from again. Perhaps the Silver Age story writers were a little hasty as today's New Krypton shows there are stories to be had. But I don't think New Krypton can last forever on the opposite side of our sun.
Marvel had Counter Earth on the opposite side of the sun and it didn't last. In literature earths on the opposite side of the sun don't have a good track record.

I doubt that a large majority of readers consider this current situation to be permanent. We're waiting for the inevitable explosion, and then the fallout.

So what do you think they will do?
Kill them all off.
Send them to orbit a red sun
Send them into another dimension
Stick them into the Phantom Zone
Send them to live on Daxam
Shrink them down again
Force them to live on a planet somewhere with the White Martians

Well I personally do hope that we see more kryptonians coming to earth. I don't really care if it's 1000 or 200,000, but for me, I can continue reading about kandor forever. Perhaps they can just go to another galaxy leaving maybe 1500 on earth. Who knows.
Explosion would be fun, but personally I'd put them back in their bottle.

You know there is a sort of poetic destiny that New Krypton will end the same way Old Krypton did, but this is so obvious they may not do it.
I agree with you that it would be funny if they got put back in their bottle. They certainly deserve it, the way they have behaved since they got out of it. It's a wonder they didn't just all kill each other while they were trapped in the bottle.

You can always dream babybro, but I'm afraid a year from now, minus who ever goes back in the reconstituted Phantom Zone, all the Kandorians will be gone.

I fully expect them to blow themselves up at some point with a lesson about learning from the past. What will happen to the survivors of that I have no clue, but likely they'll vanish into deep space never to be seen again other then a few main characters they keep to use for future use.

Sounds plausible.
I for one will not miss Supergirl's bossy mother. I felt really sorry when Zor-el appears alive only to be killed 2 or 3 issues later but I will not miss his wife when she soon meets her fate.

I don't think the concept is going to last very long either which is why it seems like they're going to make an event out of it before they put the New Krypton stuff back in the bottle.
I would be surprised if they kept it around but it seems like it would make things a little too problematic for the Superman books.

It's my understanding that this whole storyline will have a grand finale in 2010, that is also the "big event" series of 2010 for DC, by Johns and Robinson.
I don't think many reader's expected it to last - it's like the 90's reign of supermen ...we all knew it was just something to kill time until the eventual return of Superman.

Of course, they might surprise us and not destroy or rebottle Kandor.

If history is any example, New Krypton/Rokyn will be on the other side of the galaxy under a red sun the way it was pre-crisis. And, didn't we see it still in existence in Supergirl & The Legion of Super-Heroes?

Interestingly, in Adventure #2, Brainiac vows to do just that. I think I see the writing on the wall.

I can't see Brainiac doing it tho. This time, his tech and robots will be toothpicks for New Krypton

Yes, but we now know that title was set in the Earth-Prime universe ....

I think that eventually, New Krypton will still be around, but it'll be farther away.
Not sure if Alura will still be running things though (maybe Nightwing & Flamebird ?).

Right. This allows for anything to happen to New Krypton. It could get moved to Earth-Prime, it could be destroyed, it could be shrunk down again, it could be just left alone.

Brainiac hans't a chance in hell against the Kryptonians. He was defeated by two Kryptonians. With Commander Kal-El leading New Krypton, Brainiac will probrably be curbstomped. To fight against them, Brainiac would need a solid base, which he lacks.
I think a war is going to break out between Earth and New Krypton. Earth may even get some allies. Kryptonians got very bad rep, so it would't surprise me if Saturnians or Thannagarians joined Earth in a alliance. Said war will probrably devastate both sides until sanity prevails and the New Kryptonians have the common sense to move far away.

He does now. His name is Lex Luthor.

I said that a long time ago - they can't have all those supers around. I go for dead so Kal - can be the last son again.
Of course, then that would generate 100,000 Kryptonian Black Lanterns - now that would be a zombie-fest.

It will be a shame if it does disappear altogether as the setting is great, sort of sci-fi political drama - would love to see that develop more and delve deeper.

I was really loving this storyline up until the past week or so and now its starting to get to me.
Maybe I'm supposed to take a wait and see approach, but as of this last issue of WONK- I don't understand WHY Superman is even there.
He decided to leave earth behind to do what? Protect the Kandorians from Zod? Well, it looks like he's a hero for them. What do they need Clark for?
If its about negotiating peace- then forsaking earth for New Krypton doesn't seem to be the best diplomatic move.
This story is just wearing thin for me. I don't like they type of character its turning Superman into.

Clark didn't leave Earth behind, he went to "live" on New Krypton to keep an eye on General Zod and curtail him, because he knew that Zod controlling New Krypton wouldn't be good for anyone.
Kal-El's military position on NK isn't permanent; think of it as long-term deep cover.

Right. And Clark's suspicions have borne fruit. He learned that Zod has been building up an armada and in the Secret Files & Origins issues that was released, there's something hidden on New Krypton that Clark doesn't know about yet. Not to mention that he knows something happened to the Phantom Zone, there's a threat the Zod claims to be in there, he's swore revenge the last time they met and he now knows that Zod intended to get him off of New Krypton with the whole trial. And now that he knows about Lucy being on New Krypton, Sam Lane's vendetta and Ral-Dar's actions, he has even more reason to be there.

I'd like to see Darkseid come back, encase the entire planet in a soda bottle, drink it and then pee out what his body has processed.

I have to admit, I was skeptical about the New Krypton storyline when it was first solicited, but it really works for me. World of New Krypton is my favorite of the Superman titles at the moment. I'll be sorry to see New Krypton go (assuming it does after the 2010 event).

I vote to move it to a red sun somewhere, or at least put it back into a bottle. That way you'd still have the possibility of stories with it, while getting rid of the problem. Daxam won't work though, it now has a yellow sun, and a planet full of xenophobic Daxamites---though a conflict between the two sounds nice I must admit.

Why stop there? Might as well go the Water World route, and use a solar still to have his revenge over and over again. Let the good times roll.

I agree the Kryptonians ending up on a planet orbiting a red sun is a likely outcome, over rebottling them, which would make Superman look ineffectual.
But even if that's the outcome, I'd expect the paradigm to be a lot more complicated than just that. Johns and Robinson will probably set up some rebel factions nearer to Earth. Perhaps with Zod leading them, or with Zod leading rebel groups on their new planet, arming up Kryptonian weaponry, etc.

Makes sense. I've figured all along that New Krypton can't last -- and I haven't even been reading the stories about it! (Because I nearly always "wait for the trade" nowadays.)
I believe Dave Sim of Cerebus fame wrote an op-ed piece for "Hero Illustrated," back around 1993 or 1994, in which he said something like this (paraphrased from my imperfect memory):
Just imagine if fans and speculators back in the Silver Age had been as gullible about 'dramatic changes' as their children are today! The conversation might have gone like this:
"Hey! It says here that the next issue of Action Comics will feature a story with Superman turning into a green turtle!"
"Whoa! We'd better order an extra case of that issue! Ten years from now, when Superman is still a green turtle, first-edition copies of the story that started it all will be huge Collector's Items! We'll sell them all off and then retire young!"

The next crossover event is pointing towards a New Krypton/Earth war in 2010 which has been hinted in this thread and other threads. I have a couple of thoughts in regards to this event. First they could go in the predictable trajectory storyline that other people have reasonably guessed that is there will be a war and that after the New Kryptonians will move to another part of the universe or there will be a war but it won't be too devastating to both planets because investigative journalist such as Lois Lane or Jimmy Olsen will find out that the military in the 7734 project had been planning for this conflict for a while and they had framed the Kryptonians to look like bad guys in order to have a war or vice versa Kal El finds out that the military guild had been plotting to have a war with Earth or overthrow Allura or something like that.
However they could go in a unpredictable direction in that maybe the humans launch a devastating attack on New Krypton and kills thousands of Kryptonians and this alters the way Kal El looks at humans forever. Kal El decides that humanity is no longer worth saving because he sees humans celebrating the deaths of thousands of Kryptonians and his faith in humanity is forever shattered. This leads to Superman living on New Krypton longer in a self imposed exile. Hopefully DC goes in an unpredictable direction. It doesn't have t be the course I outlined but something different.
