Need help!

I've been trying to find a comic I read about 9-12 years ago. I believe it featured Superman. It was a small paperback, and it was about an inch thick. The only thing I can distinctly remember is a man with a soldier's helmet and a rifle, as well as dog tags. As I recall he was in a situation of psychological distress.

Unfortunately, no. I think the character I'm referring to was some sort of non-superpowered being, but I really don't know for sure and I wish I could be more specific =/.

Also, it wasn't sized as a typical comic, and it certainly wasn't anywhere near as fragile, which leads me to believe it was either a one-shot/special edition or graphic novel type thing.
