Do you mean physically or by their character? There have been many women who have become heads of state these past few years. But do they deserve to be called Amazons? There's a website called Women of Action Network.

If you mean physically there are many athletes who are just amazing but get little notice by the mainstream sports media.

Angela Merkel, the current head of state in Germany, would count, certainly she has similar centre-right views as Diana, and has made it to the top in male-dominated area...

Sorry, my name isn't Andrew. I chose Red Mask from Ishinomori's Ninja Akakage.

O.K. Politically: Former New Zealand PM Helen Clark, Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf (the first woman to be head of an African state), the late Benazir Bhutto.

Sports: all the women who still compete in their 40's. That includes Dara Torres, Figure Pros Marie Ann Newman, Brandie Gardner (who looks like Alex Ross' Black Canary), D.J. Wallis, and Francisca Dennis.

Young women: Victoria Larvie, the 1st teen to earn a fitness pro card. Ariel Khadar, another teen fitness champion. Allison Stokke, pole vault athlete. Tori Allen, one of the fastest teen climbers.

Stunt Women: Spice Williams Crosby. Zoe Bell, and Alina Andrei. The women who performed in Babes with Blades.

I'm usually ever-ready to mock celebrities, but I agree with you - from what I've gathered, she actually takes it seriously (as opposed to just lending her name in order to look good, as you sometimes see.)

Then how about Princess Diana (the one from the Island north of France, not that other island) for her work with AIDS victims and for trying to get rid of land mines.

I just read that teenage fitness star, Ariel Khadr, has earned her IFBB Pro Card. That makes her the second teenager to be a fitness pro. She's also the youngest to get one at the age of 17. Ariel is a level 10 gymnast and a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She's been competing for years.

I stumbled across a show on TLC called "Police Women of Broward County." The female law-enforcement officers on the show are all pretty impressive, but I was particularly impressed by Andrea Penoyer (http://tlc.discovery.com/tv/police-women/bios/bios_penoyer.html), who's tough, smart, funny, and a single mom too.
