That's how you know a character is creepy. Make him a zombie and put him in a modified wedding tuxedo and he's still slightly less creepy compared to when he was alive...

Methinks the people who are looking at that image and can only notice her crotch are people who punch theirs regularly and cry themselves to sleep at night.  j/k!
But seriously. The Black Lantern rattle is amazing. I'd consider getting a girl pregnant (BWAHAHAHAHAHA *sobs, punches crotch, sobs more*) if I ever learned they would manufacture and sell those.

You know, I do wonder how no superheroines that have kids have any stretchmarks whatsoever. I mean we all know Hollywood types get tummy tucks, tit lifts and skin peels and such but I can't recall that ever coming up in any comic. Only in comics can a woman look exactly the same as she did after having a baby as she did before.
Also in regards to the camel toe comments, if she did have a kid naturally (no C scar and her chiseled abs suggests she did), that's kind of a consequence most women have to live with after having a kid. Sorry to burst your bubbles but Benes could certainly justify including something like that given Donna did have a baby and as far as we know has not undergone any kind of labia reduction surgery or vaginoplasty.

So, as a direct consequence of Donna having a child, Benes had no choice but to draw her wearing a pair of low-rise, high-cut, crotch hugging panties that emphasized that particular feature while also using it as a visual framing element of the image?

You're right, that's exactly what I said and how I said it.
God forbid an artist try include a feature that, while unpleasant, is realistic. I mean, women's underwear is never form fitting at all, is it? After all, most women wear boilersuits and gas masks to bed. Not lingerie or teddy/camisole sets. God, that Benes, what a total arse! *shakes fist at the sky*
If you want to focus on the clunge aspect, do so. However as you pointed out, there are three other quarters of the page you could be focusing on that you are choosing not to. I think that says more about the audience that the artist, I've went to the Tate Modern gallery in the past and not everyone walks past the nude portraits with their faces locked on the women's private parts.

Yeah, because it's not like it takes up a quarter of the page or anything.
When Ed Benes is drawing he does his damnedest to make sure you don't have to look very hard. Clearly he strives to relieve the reader of that burden.
And if he weren't so obsessed with certain parts of female anatomy he might know something of human anatomy so Hawk wouldn't be pulling her heart out through the side her breast!?! What the hell!?! Now he can add necrophillia to his accomplishments.

Nice try but, of course, miles wide of the mark. First, who said anything about "unpleasant"? Second, since when are superhero comics bastions of "realism"? Benes makes choices as an artist and those choices indicate what he considers to be the important information to be displayed on the page and to help tell the story. You can tap dance as furiously as you like, but Donna's crotch is not a vital element to what the story is attempting to convey, so giving it prime visual real estate is a bad storytelling choice. That simple, really.
Oh, and most women I know usually only wear "lingerie or teddy/camisole sets" when they're going to bed with someone. When they're sleeping alone it's usually, pajamas, sweats, shorts, oversized T-shirts, or nightgowns. In other words, clothes that emphasize comfort over style.
If you want to focus on the clunge aspect, do so. However as you pointed out, there are three other quarters of the page you could be focusing on that you are choosing not to. Which, given that we're talking about a comic book and not a gallery painting, is actually quite and utterly meaningless, as the two forms of art serve vastly different purposes.

List of things that should be noticed and the order in which to do so:
1.)Zombie Terry long (*double shudders*)
2.)Zombie Baby (*regular shudder*)
3.)Aw crap, Donna's in trouble
4.)Boobs (I'm human)
5.)Donna's really not that slutty underwear in the bottom corner (followed of course, by hitting zoom to see if you can discern the shape of her vag)

Since people aren't drawn as stick figures in comics, I'd say a degree of realism is warranted since people wouldn't pay for 32 pages of stick figures.
Good on you for only knowing frumpy women that dress in oversized clothing when going to bed, however not everyone is exactly like the people you know. Sorry but it's true.
It's not a centred in a splash page, it's a bottom corner. I'm pretty sure the focus is meant to be drawn towards the zombie holding the baby since, you know, that's the extraordinary part of the drawing, not the fact a female character has a vagina. If that's really that extraordinary it draws your focus over a zombie in a tuxedo holding a zombie baby, get laid already.
They are pretty pictures for people to look at and enjoy. All visual art serves the same purpose, to please the audience looking at it. I don't know of any paintings or sketches that serve tea and biscuits or help old ladies cross the road myself, I figured since they can't really move or do anything but be pretty pieces of art for people to look at, that paintings and drawings served the same purpose. Obviously you think that's an incorrect assumption. Please explain to me what a painting does that a drawing doesn't?

Tim is appearing in Blackest Night Batman, and I just found out that Blue Beetle is going to be facing Ted Kord in Booster Gold's BN tie-in.
That kinda stinks, as I don't think any of the current Teen Titans other than Static or Aquagirl have major connections with the dead.

I don't plan on buying the other mini-series for the Blackest Night. Like this one, I really don't have any connections to these chars or their backstories too. Back in March, I started reading comics, so won't be buying any other Blackest Night books other than Batman, Superman and Titans.

so what happens to Donna and Dove?
The baby bites Donna. Before she is destroyed, she is saved by Kid Flash. She starts to become unresponsive, developes a scar like Scar and her eyes show the Black Hand symbol.
Dove, realizes that she can't beat both BL Hawks and leaves to get help. The rings are completely confused against Dove's aura and I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but it seems that the BLs can't actually kill her unless she registers an emotion.
Also, in another cool Blackest Night highlight, Starfire takes out Terra, and basically disintegrates her. The Black Ring puts her back together though.
Issue ends with resurrected BL Teen Titans ready to fight.
Couldn't afford to buy this mini but it's a a fun, quick read.

I give this issue 3 stars.
Krul is doing a decent job with this 3 issue mini series and benes art is good as well.
The script seems really deft and tight. Carefully worded and thought out. I liked all the dialogue between beast boy and terra when they were fighting.
Nice bart guest star in this issue.
I wonder if donna is slowing mutating into a black lantern, SHe has died a number of times so i wonder if death has a better chance of getting her back?
Not bad. The first wave of Blackest night mini's have been stellar. With Batman being the best of the bunch and superman and titans a tie in quality and art.

In Blackest Night #1 and #2, Mera figured out that the Black Lanterns need potential victims to register emotions in order to locate and kill them. Mera was able to resist having her heart torn out and to mask being hunted by the BL Aquaman Family because she controlled her emotions. In Dove's case, I think her actual superpower is what prevents her from being a victim. In BN #1, a BL ring attempted to raise Dove/Don from the dead but could not. I have a feeling the Doves will play a key roll in the overall Blackest Night story.

What, no BL Kole!?
She's around. I believe she had a cameo in the main Blackest Night book. I will have to look it up to be certain. I wouldn't be surprised if she showed up in issue BN Titans #3. However, if they used all the dead Titans in this book, that's basically an army. Still, featuring Aquagirl and not Kole is weird. Kole was an actual Titan, whereas Aquagirl was more of an adjunct member and only had a few outings with the team before she died.

I'm not wondering now if Donna Troy and Dove are going to fight, since Donna may be coerced into some Black Lantern role. She's the only resurrected character that does not appear on the cover of Blackest Night 5.
