I'm intrigued. Wonder who will be the new artist?

That's, what, five major news announcements in like 10 minutes?
Sheesh, when it rains it pours.
Good news though, I'll probably keep the book past Johns/Manapul leaving then.

Happy Dance!! I just wished for this in the "Levitz stepping down as publisher thread" and lo and behold, it happens. Maybe I should have asked for unlimited wealth or 5% body fat instead....
Now if we can just get Giffen to do the art!!!

But only if it's good Giffen art not that messy stuff he sequed into. I will take Steve Lightle, though. :)

This is actually pretty cool.
Levitz monumental influence on Adventure Comics was not only great for Superboy/Legion stories, it was also the absolute pinnacle of Aquaman stories.
I'll miss Geoff (although I do actually think Manapul's art is a perfect fit for The Flash).

Dropping it. I have very much disliked Levitz's more recent writings, and am unfamiliar with his more ancient ones.

Finally, if they wanted Levitz Legion so bad. I think this is best way to do it.
My favorite writer on the book is back. Now they need to give him JSA.

Wait, so is Adventure still goign to be a Superboy book: Superboy main feature with Legion co-feature?
Because if not, that would make no sense. The whole point behind this new Adventure book was Superboy! Despite the change in writing, changing the focus of the book wouldn't happen after just 6 issues. That normally happens after a longer time, or doesn't at all. That makes no sense.
Please Adventure = Superboy, please Adventure = Superboy.

I don't know what to think of this. I want Johns and Manapul doing Superboy but I like Levitz doing the Legion...I don't know what to think... Unless DC launches a new Superboy book. This combined with the Flash news and DC Entertainment is too much at one time.

I want to know if Superboy is still going to be the lead feature in Adventure past #6, or if this book is going to be Legion centric.

I would say he is. I can't see them ditching him already. He is going nowhere.

Maybe he goes to a new Superboy ongoing. I think Adventure Comics was brought back for Levitz all along, and Geoff just use the time Levitz would be unavaible to launch Superboy solo to the modern audience. Seems good to me.

Heh, when it's not going to be Rafael Alburquerque you're going to be sooo disappointed.
I'm not sure what to make of Paul Levitz being the new writer since I've never read anything from him. I keep hearing about how his run with Keith Giffen on Legion was such a good run so I'll most likely give the title a chance but if the book starts to dip in quality I'll be dropping it at the drop of a hat.

Can Levitz write modern comics? When did he last write anything, and...was it any good?

I am cool with either of these choices.

If, by modern comics, you mean the kind of angsty, overwritten, overwrought dreck DC seems to be focusing mainly on these days, gods, I hope not.

The last story I remember Levitz writing was an arc at the end of the last JSA series. It was solid but not brilliant. Having said that, Levitz's name is synonymous with the Legion and under his watch it was DC's second highest selling book. It will be interesting to see how he handles these characters this time around.

Can we please kick Superboy out of it then and make it just a Legion comic?

I remember when they were first hyping Adventure and people were guessing as to who the book would focus on, Didio said that the Legion would be featured prominantely, but not it the first arc. Maybe this was the plan all along....

I also recall statements that there would be a lot of Superboy/Legion interplay. Perhaps it's going to actually be Superboy & the Legion for both the main and co-feature with the lines blurred between which is which much in the same way that it's Green Arrow & Black Canary.

^^^^ THAT'S Steve Lightle? I'd kind of forgotten about him in the latter-day Levitz era, but yeah, I could definitely go along with him as artist!
As for this will-it-be-Superboy or will-it-be-the-Legion question, I have no idea but I know what I'd do if it were my choice: Superboy and a few other Supes supporting characters (Steel, the Guardian, possibly Mon-El in the 21st century, maybe Superwoman if they de-villainize her as that back up feature in the Supergirl Annual seemed to indicate they're going to) would all be moved to a running anthology, "Superman Family" (remember that title from the '70's? I'd bring it back). I'd leave the Legion in "Adventure" entirely to themselves for a while and then let them start their own series and then move Aquaman or whoever into "Adventure."

They've just said that he's writing the Legion in Adventure. He hasn't been confirmed or denied as the writer on the Superboy segment.

I like both of these ideas, my question is if Conner has more interaction with the Legion and goes to the future, will the Luthor/Braniac story (which definitely seems to be something that will involve Conner soon, but still is part of New Krypton) stay with Superboy in Adventure or go back into Superman and Action?

I'd be perfectly happy with seeing Clayton Henry continue on with the Legion, but DC has a huge stable of artists that could really do the book justice.

I think if robinson gets ahold of the book, he'll tie it in with the other superbooks.
I'll have to shoot myself in the face.
Oh and random sidenote: I got the Adventure Comics #2 Varient for a quarter today at my LCS Auction. WOOT!!!

I read an exchange between the Adventure artist and Geoff Jones on twitter earlier today; the artist (Francis?) said he'd miss Adventure but is looking forward to Flash, so AT LEAST the artist is off Superboy.

They already stated that Johns and Manpaul are going over to the Flash, the other day. Now, Robinson has three books that he is working on. Superman, JLA and WONK. Rucka has Action, WONK and Detective. Gates has two books, Supergirl and Kid Flash. If a new writer doesn't take over or if Michael Shoemaker, who is working on the Legion co-feature doesn't move up, I could see Gates taking over the Superboy storyline.

I would like this solution, and it makes sense with so many Legion folk embedded in the present. If Levitz is going to be the new Legion writer, maybe he'll write the Superboy stories that involve Legion characters, as well.
I'm buying Adventure for Conner, but having the Legion around does make it even better. Right now the co-feature doesn't seem to have the room to let the Legion do enough (same problem with the Question over in Detective) so either letting the two stories have equal pages, or letting the size vary as needed, would also help.
I'm certain Johns is not about to start a Superboy solo title, with everything else he has going on. If the characters do split into separate books, with Levitz sticking with the Legion, then I would be happy to see Gates take over for Conner Kent.

.....but will there be even be a Superboy segment when Johns & Manapul's story ends? The word was that characters would be moving in and out of the book (with the Legion segment being around more than others).

This sounds great, though I hope Clayton Henry stays on as the Legion artist. His stuff has been awesome!
