With the new season about to begin, what brand new shows are you looking forward to seeing? Let's try to keep it to shows on ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, and CW. Waaaaaay too much new stuff on "cable" to follow.

For me, I'm really anxious to see Flash Forward and Trauma. I'll probably catch the first few episodes of NCIS: LA out of curiosity though since I love NCIS. I may check out The Vampire Diaries even though CW shows tend to leave me cold.. And, of course, there's Jay Leno's new show.... which I'll ignore as much as possible.

So what about the rest of you??

Probably "Glee"

My wife wants to watch "Vampire Diaries."

That's all I can think of for NEW shows.

Forgot to add that I am interested in seeing "Community." I like Joel McHale and Chevy Chase, but the previews don't just suck me right in. I'll give it a shot.

Glee looks like it has A LOT of potential, though there were some worrisome signs in the pilot. Still worth a watch.

I'm willing to give Flash Forward a shot. I despised LOST, but I've heard that this will resolve things season by season. If the characters are less obnoxious, I might stick with it.

Community has some potential.

V. Besides the fact that it looks promising, it is also the only place in the world you can go to see a former space prostitute eat a live hamster. (which is to say, if I recall correctly, Morena Baccarin is the alien queen)

I'm reluctantly excited for AMC's remake of The Prisoner. Anyone else, I'd be iffy... but the people that brought us Breaking Bad and Mad Men deserve the benefit of the doubt. I know this is not on a network.

I'm going to check out "V".

I usually don't watch remakes, but I just can't say no to Morena Baccarin, Alan Tudyk, and Elizabeth Mitchell all in one place.

I forgot about V and Glee.

V is a huge maybe.

Glee is just didn't grab me with its preview. Way, way, way too predictable and "cookie cutter-ish" in its characters.

Trauma looks like yet another plug-in medical show into the vacant ER spot, trying for the same mindshare. I ain't buyin' that.

Flashforward is based on a very good book, with some necessary changes to change the pace for TV, but they make sense. In the book the period of the "Flashforward" is FAR longer, so the change to a very short period is basically changing the execution completely. But that's okay. TV shows need a sense of immediacy. This will be a watercooler show, the way Lost was back in the days when that show actually worked.

Leno needs to fail, and quickly, and get the hell out of our way. I shudder at the consequences if he succeeds. The other networks would follow his pattern and scripted shows would be all but dead.

Glee will be a fun show, even if not one everyone wants to fess up to looking forward to.

The V remake will either be the best OR the worst idea ever. We shall see.

The Fall looks a bit bleak for good new shows. Maybe the Winter/Spring season will be better.

Leno needs to fail, and quickly, and get the hell out of our way.

The failure of the Leno Experiment could be either the worst or best thing ever to happen to NBC. It would mean they have tons and tons of empty prime-time space and nothing ready to fill it with... which could quickly sink them as a viable network, especially if they try to fill it with an ocean of tacky "reality" swill.

Or, it could leave them desperate enough to start picking up all the good shows that are mishandled and cancelled by the other networks... or even, god forbid, give a chance to some new creative blood with fresh ideas.

You mean like Scrubs or Medium?

You mean like Scrubs or Medium?

Could be, but I was thinking more along the lines of stuff like "Firefly" or "Wonderfalls"... great shows that get greenlit, the network has no idea what to do with them, they get stuck in some ungodly timeslot with no promotion, get cancelled after 4 or 5 episodes, and only when the DVD set comes out do people realize how good it was.

Yes, but the RISK to Network TV if he somehow succeeds? Or even just squeeks by?

The other networks will copy the formula, maybe not the same exact way but in SOME form (newsmagazines, even MORE reality and game shows, etc.) and scripted programming will be dead. It will ALL turn to the "what's cheaper and allows us to earn a bit of scratch on the margins". As opposed to only being HALF that way now.

Leno's program is the most dangerous thing to ever happen to Network TV. People SHOULD be scared.

Well, Leno sucked as much as I thought he would. Ugh. His "new" show has all the worst features of his old show, with some extras tossed in.

That said, he apparently got HUGE ratings. As someone who'd like network TV to stay around and not completely dissapear down the rabbit hole of least common denominator-land, that's frightening. Apparently America DOES want horrible cornball skits, guests who are either offensive (Kanye) or of severely decreasing relevance (Seinfeld), stupid blue chairs, the SAME damn band, an even worse announcer than Stuttering John was (hard to believe they could find anyone worse), and humor where even the "topical" subjects somehow seem to deliver stale jokes.

Yuck.

Actually, I like Glee.

Although the football-player-who-wants-to-be-a-singer reminded me of Popular, and the whole "child of a single parent wanting to make his mother proud" was reminiscent of Lucas from One Tree Hill, I did enjoy the pilot.

I'll give the show time to grow.

Other than that, truth be told, none of the other shows appeal to me.

Though I might end up watching Vampire Diaries if my friends prod me enough

Uggh.

This is a way better year than last year........

I'm gonna give a chance to V, FlashForward, Glee, Bored to Death, Modern Family, and Community. The show I'm most excited about is Day One.

However, all I've heard is awesome stuff about Community...and I downloaded it on PS3. I'm the charter member of Joel McHale fan club, and I think Chevy Chase is walking gold.......yet the pilot was alright, and at times borderline stupid and atrociously unfunny. I like Joel McHale because he is a modern day....Chevy Chase. However, he needs to find his own voice, and tone down the Chevyisms. I'm willing to stay with this show...but so far I'm VERY, VERY Dissapointed.

I haven't really decided what shows I am going to watch yet. It usually depends on whether I happen to be sitting in front of the TV when they premier. I'll probably make a point of giving V a try though, since I'm a big fan of the original miniseries.

I love Glee. I think it's fantastic. I've watched the first 2 episodes of the new Melrose Place, and I'm enjoying it. I also watched the first episode of The Vampire Diaries and it was exactly what I expected, which is to say I didn't like it very much. Ian Somerhalder was pretty entertaining though, and if I'm honest, I will probably end up watching it again because I have a weakness for bad TV.

You know that the Writer/Producer of Glee and the Writer/Producer of Popular are the same guy, right? So at worst he's ripping HIMSELF off.

This may be the season i finally kiss off all television for good. Absolutely nothing on i CAN watch that i want to watch.

Okay, I can't say I'm looking forward to seeing this, because its cancellation bait and looks like its going to totally suck, but I love the "joke" version someone made of the promo poster...

Sept 30th? Holy hannah, that was tonight! And I missed it. My life will never be complete now!

I bet its canceled by late November.

I can't believe that's an actual show.....

The actual show is just called "Hank".

Basically it's Frasier (type character) goes broke and moves to the sticks with his bitchy family.

Then hilarity is supposed to ensue, but doesn't.

Wasn't much on tonight, so we watched all four of Abc's new sitcoms and the only one that didn't disgust or bore me was the one with Courtney Cox and I don't even like her very much.

Thank god I recorded Glee.
