I've always loved this cover. It's just great stuff. I just don't know anything at all about who this character is or what is going on in this issue. Any one out there that can fill a guy in?

That's Dr. Cyber -- it comes from the non-powered period. She was disfigured when one of her lairs blew up -- which she blamed Diana Prince for, of course. If I remember, this was the conclusion of a two-partner pairing Diana with DC's shamus character Jonny Double -- they were both protecting a Hugh Hefner-style character who was being threatened by Cyber, for some reason. But when Cyber realized Diana was near her again, she determined to replace her face with Diana's, with the aid of evil surgeon Dr. Moon.

So basically, even when she was out of costume, she still had bondage covers?

Very Fumicetti in composition. Interesting. Actually I am wondering if that cover might be some sort of tribute to a pulp cover of some sort or one of the italian vampire-sex mags.

From what I've heard at the time they were experimenting with different cover styles to try and draw in readers. I know there were a couple of horror-like covers, this was just always the one that really captured my attention.

I'm actually kinda disappointed that it's just Dr. Cyber.

That's actually a really cool cover.

Hmm.

It makes me think.

That cover was by Jeffrey Jones, who's now Jeffrey Catherine Jones, a woman. Read more about her work here (http://www.sequentialtart.com/archive/july04/jcjones.shtml), but the link to the personal material is wrong, and one should click here (http://web.archive.org/web/20071013122528/http://ulster.net/~jonesart/autobiography.html) for more..

This makes JC Jones the first (and only?) transsexual to work on the Wonder Woman comic, even if it was pre-transition.

How very interesting, Andy! Thanks for the info!

I remember being mesmerized by the gorgeousness of "Idyll" as well as those 2 covers Jones did for WW (my fave of the two was #199).
