Ok, now that we have it officially in canon. Where is it now. Why have we not seen its used in any of the other books that Donna appears in, and what can it do?
Will we see it again Gail?

I love it. The color coordination is shamelessly stylish for stylishness' sake. Silver lasso. Moon goddess. Awesome.
I can forgive inconsistencies as long as they're pretty. What kind of fan does that make me?

Not only "where is it now?" but "where did it come from?"
We don't know why all the sudden Donna had a silver lasso, if it can do anything special or why she never used it during the big battle.
No explanations.

Locked away in a closet? My take is that her *old* Wondergirl lasso was somehow imbued with her moon goddess titan energy. She's no longer a moon goddess but the blue tinge is a faint remnant of that, reflecting her personality.
That's my retcon and I'm sticking to it until someone comes up with something better!

How nice. But is that what happened? No one has said!

I remember Gail saying on another board that the silver lasso "stays," though I haven't seen it anywhere else.
As far as what it does, I would think that it's somehow tied (no pun intended) to the net Donna used to carry as Troia. Rhea knows what abilities it had, though.

I think the net could do something like calm the tides or something like that. Which could mean it has a calming effect on anybody that's ensnared in it.
Which I really hope isn't the case, cause thats a bit boring. I like the idea that it could go into the memories of anybody thats in the lasso. Even if the memories were planted there, it would be able to burn through it to get to the true memory.

I think the memory power is a great idea. It would be like Donna's way of accessing the truth; different from Diana, but with similar effect.

Agreed! That's a beautiful idea. And it just *fits* her so well.

Gail said that the silver lasso will be addressed in the coming months...

Well, i'm sure Gail would come up with something great for Donna....
Now, what in the world should Cassie's lasso be able to do?

During that godawful Countdown series, Donna fought another version of herself from out in the Multiverse while traveling with Jason and the others. She ended up knocking the girl out and stealing her costume and gear, and kept the lasso after they left the planet.
The lasso she stole from the other girl wasn't silver, but I think it might be a halfway decent explanation as to where it came from.

Didn't she already have Diana's with her at that point before she left?
Please correct me if I'm wrong. How many lariats does Donna have?
The mental image of them stored in mothballed shoeboxes makes me giggle, btw.

It's in canon. And the story is coming.
But NOT in Wonder Woman! :)

Sorry, but what's in canon? The scene I mentioned where Donna jacks the other girl's lasso?

Considering Donna has access to the entire armory of New Kronos all to herself I'd always hoped she might pick up an enchanted weapon to call her own other than just another lasso....something that might show her own individuality.

I look forward to reading a story about Donna's silver lasso, though where will it appear? JLA or Titans?
Either way I will read it. I am a big Donna fan.

Hey, so I was wondering if the silver lasso is ever going to appear again? I trust Gail, she's a good writer, and she said it was here to stay, but the people at DC are not known for consistency when it comes to Donna Troy!

I guess we'll find out soon with the new costume!

Donna's getting ANOTHER new costume? Good grief.
I just hope she gets a proper hero name. I mean, when you hear, "Superman! Firestorm! Cyborg! Donna Troy! Darkseid's parademons are flying in over the west side of New York..." It just doesnt have that same panache.
Oh, and count me in for keeping the silver lasso too. I thought it was a nice touch years ago and has been all but forgotten.

It's okay!
It's in the Rise of the Olympian thread, somewhere around issue 29, I think...it might be 28. Not sure!

I made it! I took video from the opening to the Justice League cartoon and after removing frames and tweaking the colors was able to get it to work as an animated image.
Glad to see somebody using it!

You know, it's a shame that no one else has actually tried to make Donna as powerful as she can be. If you do mesh all her previous stories together, you get a Wolfman's Troia, who has the blessings of the Titans of Myth with super strength, flight, force field projection, memory access and other powers that were never explored; a Bryne's Donna Troy, which has similar powers as Diana; and Jimenez's Troia, which could possibly have the powers that Harbinger had. I don't think that the importance of the lasso is as great as having all these other abilities and skills at your command.
BTW, do you plan to tweak Donna's origin as well, Gail?

Silver lasso? What silver lasso?
The lasso at Donna's hip in RotO was quite clearly white.

It was shiny, so it just looked white. I love some good Phong shading.
