1. See Gail re-imagine at least one more member of the classic WW rogues' gallery (We've seen her excellent take on The Cheetah in SECRET SIX #2, Giganta in THE ALL-NEW ATOM, and Dr. Psycho in VILLAINS UNITED).

2. Reveal more juicy details from Diana's origin/birth.

3. More Tameka the Nurse, and more of the soldiers from Diana Prince's paramilitary team.

1. I'd like to see Circe be a genuine (read: smart) threat once more-- not only to Diana, but to the DCU proper with clear motives and such. Circe should be one of the foes (alongside Ares and now Genocide) who taxes Diana in nearly every possible way-- powerwise and in terms of ideals. She's exceedingly powerful and should have more defining moments.

2. Next time Superman and/or Batman try and make Diana feel like she made a foolish decision to kill Maxwell Lord (or any villains she deems completely unredeemable/unstoppable), that she essentially tell them to shove it as she continues on her way.

3. Perhaps it would be nice if some of Diana's old friends were to once again rejoin Diana's life since she's separated from her Amazon family-- basically elements of many of Diana's past supporting casts-- Julia, Vanessa, Mike Schorr, Helena, her embassy friends, etc.

More kick ass Diana (I mean every issue has it but I like the trend)
More Donna because in her appearances so far I have really enjoyed Gail's portrayal. She seems to get that for all Donna's niceness and group hug reputation she is still one hell of a fighter. I want to see more of that.

1.) Commit to the inevitable (and instantly classic) Ragdoll/Wonder Woman team-up limited series.

2.) Keep Nemesis in the supporting cast.

3.) Spin-off series for Tolifhar and Co. (Tolifhar and the Amazing Apes? Task Force Ape? Apes United? Simian Syndicate?)

I second that !!!

2)Less mythos, more super-heroics !

3)Less Amazons, more Wonder Woman with the others heroes in the DCU.
I feel that she is outside the current world, trapped in the past history for too long. Set her free !

But I really want the Ragdoll/Wonder Woman team-up now !

I feel like I'm on Santa's knee at the mall some 30+ years ago...

So in case you are reading this, Gail... I want:

1) an apricot pit necklace
2) a briefcase full of fruit
3) Just keep writing this book!

... and yeah, to echo Christoph68, that polar bear scene was awesome... you have a knack for putting really cool scenes in the book that may not move the major plot line (immediately anyway), but really give great insight into Diana's mindset. That is just one of many. The scene with the wolves at the beginning of the Beowulf story comes to mind.

More Tolifar and friends... more Alkyone for sure... (I think she makes such an awesome nemesis, her motivations are just perfect). I'm basically a newbie as far as WW's rogues gallery and history. I got in with the Heinberg relaunch and am still with you. So, I place my trust in you to keep writing such great stuff and don't have many other 'suggestions' (not that mine would be worthwhile anyway). I'm not a DC guy at all, but I don't want to see to much of Batman and Superman here. I think there's probably enough interaction between Diana and those guys elsewhere. This run has been basically fine without them, and if I see too much of them it would feel like a Spider-Man / Wolverine (and now that overexposed clown Deadpool) guest star appearance to drum up sales. This book does not need that. Not that I get the feeling it was going to happen. Guess I'm saying just keep doing what you have been, adding more layers (or revealing more?) to the mythos, and trust your instincts... they seem to be doing you well so far!

I seriously thought about making an apricot pit necklace the day I read that. Of course, the point is to be given one, not make one for yourself... not sure how my current love interest would take to receiving / wearing one, though! She doesn't read comics at all and I think she'd think I was flaky (or rather, more flaky).

Wow, just saw this after I posted... and I totally disagree. The best parts of the book haven't been (in my opinion) when another cape shows up. I like being introduced to these characters I'm totally unfamiliar with. Seeing Green Lantern or Superman show up would just leave me feeling like I'm reading some team-up book. Can't you get that fix in a Justice League (or another team) book? No way. I want to learn more about Hippoltya and Themiscrya and that whole pantheon of characters. Sure, occasional interaction with those characters makes some sense... I'd rather see her interact with those of her own 'family' in this book.

I'm not a huge fan of the Amazon legacy because it is always shown as a drawback.
From this legacy it comes just, mostly, hindrances. No real benefits for Diana.
Nothing really knew comes from the greek mythos, always the same characters doing the same old things (Gail is introducing some cool developments I must say).
And I just wish that she'd be happy for a while and since amazon background only causes her pain lately, I think that she must free herself from the sisterhood.
I was happy when Zeus rejected her. At last, she could be free ! But no, we're coming back to the Island next story-arc.
I really hope that it will be the last time because of Diana finally finding peace at home.

I'm not asking for another hero showing-up every issue (by the way, Black Canary was just a lots of fun !), but I need to see Diana connected with Patriarch World and not trapped in Amazon stuff over and over for the nth time.
I'm a huge fan of Byrne's run and after the first amazing arc based on Amazon stuff, he changed the scenes. The balance between Amazon/Patriarch World was good.

Harold of the Rocks
09-07-2009, 02:34 PM
I don't agree with that take entirely. Her background is also what makes her an amazing warrior, a champion for a cause. Also, who can escape their family and heritage? It's part and parcel of all of us, both the good and the bad. Pulling her out of that just makes her another generic 'superwoman' -- someone with 'cool powers' but nothing more, in my mind. I can respect your desires to see her 'free' of some of that familial baggage I guess.... but can't you get that somewhere else? I ask honestly, I do not know. Is Wonder Woman always tormented by her ties to Themiscrya in her appearances in other books? I think her own title is the one place that should never be 'left behind'.

4PointOh
09-07-2009, 02:36 PM
I believe Gail has said that, historically, the WONDER WOMAN title has sold more when the stories are superhero focused rather than mythology focused.

Though, I prefer the latter to the former.

I think her own title is the one place that should never be 'left behind'.
I agree, but it musn't be the only topic of the book.
And, lately, it feels like it is the only topic and always in a way that hurts Wonder Woman.
I just want a change of mood on the subject, something more positive.
Oh, and I'm pretty sure if we have been reading two years of Wonder Woman without Amazons that I would have wanted more Amazon stuff

I think there have been positives, though. I'm glad there haven't been a bunch of tie-ins to the DCU. I really think the interaction with the other DCU characters can be done somewhere else, just fine. Have Wonder Woman guest star in those characters' books, not the other way around...

Let's not let 'sales' dictate the story, shall we? Great stories will sell. Maybe not as well as Batman appearances and such, but at the cost of a good story? No thanks, I'll pass.

Hi

Here's my wish list

1. Dinah and Diana's team up was fun. It would be great some other women in the DCU could show up in her book. And in particular I am thinking of Ms. Kate Spencer. Diana had excellent chemistry with her when Diana guested in her book.

2. Artemis, Artemis, Artemis. Kick out the Gorillas and have Artemis move-in with Diana.

3. Just get rid of the Gorillas.

4. If she is going to have a love interest, please introduce someone other than Tresser. She's frigging Wonder Woman, she shouldn't have to settle.

5. And finally I would like a pony or a kitten. ALIVE. I know how you think Simone.

I don't know if my other reply got in or not since I cannot find it so I will recap

Mythos is excellent: Please shore up the inconsistencies. Is Zeus, Achilles and Atlas in the Trials of Shazam the same as in WW and Superman? The characters seem different and it kind of bugs me. However, I can see Zeus trying to manipulate Freddy Freedman into conflict with WW.

As far as a romance goes, I think the Olympian would be a great choice and the conflict between family and career would be a good opportunity for storyline. She seems willing to have childbirth for the sake of her people, but if she fell in love with her children and her mate and still had her responsibility to the world, that would be quite a story. (I also would hate to mess with a pregnant WW!)

In addition shoring up the DCU Mythic inconsistencies, I would like to see more interactions with the myths of other cultures. To meet with retired gods (similar to Neil Gaiman's American Gods) and to fight an Oni, or match wits with a Coyote Trickster or a Baba Yaga. I think that WW's "Blackest Night" analog would be to go against some ancient gods, AKA WW vs Cthulhu (or on the internet, CtHULU, who uses old rerun TV shows to drive you into maddness) and lead the DCU to save the world/Universe etc.

Finally, if you can get access to the Multiverse, some of the alternate WW's would be fun interaction (I think the Wild West would be a hoot!)

Keep up the good work!

1- Return of Fatsis the plus-sized Golden Age Amazon....
2- Return of NuBia
3- Team-up with Mera
4- a sanctuary for her...perhaps leftover tesseract technology from before the
Hera knocking Themiscyra out of the sky fiasco
5- return of Julia and Vanessa Kapatelis....perhaps Valerie Beaudry too (I've
owndered what became of her!)
6- keep delivering an intriguing story each month and I'll be happy

I'm quoting Rawhide Kid here, but adding my own edits:

1) MORE mythos, MORE super-heroics !

2) MORE Amazons, MORE Wonder Woman with the others heroes in the DCU.

So, um...yeah. Basically MORE of everything. Impossible? Maaaybe, but Diana deserves no less! (I know you agree with me on this, Gail )

yes, Yes, YES! I agree. This would be awesome. I love Black Adam's godly certainty and I would love to see him flattened by Wonder Woman. Just have Black Adam take out a few heavyweights (Supes, GL, etc.) before the eventual battle with WW so that she will be seen as even more astonishingly powerful.

Okay, real wish list item: 4 issue arc where Amazons and Diana are reunited, supporting cast is happy.mythos status quo is in a positive state and Diana does some old fashioned crime fighting. Kinda like a 4 issue day-in-the-life akin to Phil Jimenez's issue #170, but with detail.

Hate when books do that. Think about all the times that's been done to Wondy to make Supes' or Bats' victory look more impressive. Sure, maybe turnabout's fair play, but I'd still prefer writers not to fall for such a cheap convention.

Donna needs to be supporting cast or have a back up feature; she always represents the Wonder family in the Titans books but she rarely features with the Wonder family. It'd be good for Donna to actually be a proper Wonder and also to have that Lasso mess cleared up.

Themiscyra is a nation again now, they're going to have an Embassy to the real world which isn't involved with Diana. It'd be so awesome to hear more about that, I don't want the idea of the Diana replacement to just fade.

Diana should fight Black Adam, he's mythological so it doesn't feel as off as when other superheroes intrude. And Kurt had him as the Diana of the replacement trinity in Trinity. Plus he's high profile and powerful but there won't be the backlash you'd get if you had Diana beat Superman. Also, Isis is kind of a Wonder Woman derived character and tied to Bana myth; it'd be awesome to touch upon her too.

Any suggestions on how to make WW be seen as more awesome, powerful or god-like?

I guess I feel she is all of these all the time, but I only sometimes see this in her stories. Or if the characteristics do appear, then they are not largely noticed. I would argue that the general population sees Wonder Woman as a 2nd class character or perhaps the least effective of the trinity. And this bugs me. I would like to see her more recognized. Maybe she needs a live-action movie in the vein of Iron Man to mollify me.

On my wish list is some more character archs that continue to define Diana as well as some of her villains, or in some cases re-establish them. In particular...

Giganta – she's a brilliant, yet deranged doctor and I'd like to see her motivations against Wonder Woman explored some more. Also, it'd be interesting to see what happened to Olga with that shaman that gave her the size-changing powers. (I've always wanted to see Cale, Poison and Giganta get together and talk shop.)

Dr Cyber - One of Diana's more interesting Silver Age foes and I'd be interested in her having a technologist added to her rogues.

Superwoman - We see her in relation to Ultraman and Owlman for the most part, so I'd like to see and Diana on their own. Earth 2 really didn't give her much a back story either, so that could be fun.

Gudra the Valkyrie or the Mask could be interesting too.

Finally, I'm up for an all-new, powerhouse villain that's specifically opposed to/tied to Diana. Her Catwoman or Maxima or Black Cat or Shiva or Star Sapphire or Elektra, etc. Someguy that she has to fight against, but it's filled with complications.

All the best...

Scott

Primary wish list:
- A Diana that's confident, competent and happy.

- The upside of the Amazons - they're supposed to actually be the best society on earth, not backwards militant baby-killers. :frown:

- Positive portrayals of the Goddesses - we almost always see just the down-side (kind of like the Amazons themselves); when are we going to see some magesty that inspires faith that lasts 3,000 years?

Secondary:
- Bring on the heavy-hitters - like others here, I want to see Diana take on the big guns, and Black Adam is such a perfect foe.

- Mythologies beyond Greek - Diana visiting the other pantheons, and the subsequent fallout, is a nice appetizer, but I want more.

- Socio-political international conflict (ala Hypothetical Woman).

- And if we can get rid of the fraud that is Diana Prince (but I don't think that's going to happen :frown: ).

1) Keep Diana a kick ass!

2) A Diana/Hawkman kick ass session - I really don't mind who they fight, but the thought of those 2 dishing out pain is fabulous.

3) A break from the Paradise Island scenario. I know there is still a lot to deal with, but once the Achilles situation is over, lets have a bit of a break.

4) Bring back Silver Swan (NOT Vanessa) Re-invent Angle Man & Dr Cyber.

5) Circe & Cheetah go on a break for a while - they've been used too much recently.

6) More team ups with DC ladies (Catwoman, Zatanna, Black Canary, Artemis, Power girl etc)

7) A serious rift develops between Diana & Cassie over her dropping Zeus. I really dislike WG so any tension between those these characters gets a thumbs up from me.

8) Some clarification on just how much damage Diana can take. This has always been a bit of problem area for me. She has to deflect bullets, yet she can punch a nuclear missile & get knocked around by the big hitters of the DC universe. She obvioulsy has some kind of healing factor.

9) A proper romance!! Diana still being the virgin princess just seems odd. I like Tom & hope that this continues.

10) Get rid of the secret identity thing - it's not needed now.

She can be harmed by sharp piercing weapons. Spear point, blades, arrows, bullets, and similar things. Think of it like having a large piece of something stretched out, it's easier to tear through it with a fine point than something with a larger mass. That's pretty much how it works.

As far back as the George Perez run Wonder Woman was grabbing blades with her bare hands.

I think her "weakness" to sharp objects requires a force behind it. A bullet can pierce her skin because it's a fast moving sharp projectile but a regular person with a knife couldn't cut into her because he lacks the strength/speed to do so.

The blade's kind of fuzzy. It can definitely do her harm (http://i27.tinypic.com/2pq4cav.jpg) when used as a piercing weapon though, grabbing them aside, she has been shown as being cut by a slashing blade as well. Yes, there is something to the force behind it though I'm pretty sure, but open to correction, it's not to the degree that she's immune from a regular person stabbing her(granted they'd need the chance in the first place).

I wasn't using it as an example of that but am still saying that I'm still pretty sure a normal person could stab her. Though, again, I'm open to seeing an example of someone trying and the blade not working since I'm drawing blanks as it doesn't seem something that'd often anyway.

But I am thinking this might be running this thread off course somewhat.

Through the power of clunky writing and lack of research, Will Pfeifer (yeesh) already tried that in Catwoman, and the less said about it, the better (though i think if anyone would understand wanting to ignore Will Pfeifer's writing, it's the members of a Wondy forum).

- Diana actually teaching, mentoring, having fun, and going on patrol with Cassie.
-Bring back the Kapatelis family.
- Diana being an ambassdor of peace and a diplomat.
- Get rid of that stupid secret agent thing and either have no secret identity or a her working at the U.N or working along side Julia as a secret idenity.
- More Ares.
-More Greek Mythology inspired villains like Enyo and Typhon.
- I would like to see Al Rio as being the artist or maybe have
Phil Jimenez be a guest artist.
- A issue exploring Diana's daily routine as a superhero.
- A Wonder Woman/Green Lantern team-up (maybe going up against Silver Swan and Sonar or tieing with Blackest Night) since we've never seen what her relationship with Hal is like, also it would interesting to hear them comparing Diana killing Maxwell Lord with when Hal became Parallax, and see if the Guardians have any past with the Greek Gods. It would be kinda cool that sometime before Abin Sur was Green Lantern of Sector 2814, that an Amazon was a Green Lantern.

A couple of ideas based on somethings I've read in stories that I would like to see more of:

1. More life or sentience to the Golden Lasso. Not a personality per se, but still having some sort of awareness of what it is, what it's responsibilities are and what it should do.

2. I like the idea of Diana radiating some kind of divine "inspiration" to those allies around her. For example, Supes is even stronger, Bats can think more quickly, Amazons could be more coordinated or have faster reflexes etc. Maybe morale and determination could increase in her presence. If she leaves, this effect may fade. If a character switches "sides" this effect could come or go. Could make Diana's decisions on where exactly she is and what she decides to there more dramatic.

More Dinah thrown in would also be nice. I'd be happy if she was a semi-regular character in Wonder Woman. The banter is just perfect. I always feel like Diana's conversations with Clark and Bruce are just noise, but with Dinah its an actual conversation. i love them together.

It's already been wished for, but I'll add my voice to the cry for more Artemis. I can always use more Artemis.
I'd also like to see more mythology if possible, particullarly some of the gods that are usually overlooked in the series. Or any obscure monsters and such, that'd be cool.

1. More Etta Candy - and where's Steve Trevor?

2. Return of Osira, Eviless, Dr. Cyber, etc... Let's get some of those old villains revived, and done right!

3. Wonder Boy, and Wonder Boy done right! Either with mythological ties, or a young hero who idolizes Wonder Woman (maybe somehow similar to how Cassie became Wonder Girl)

4. I like the idea of teaming up with other DC heroines, but let's not choose the obvious suspects. I'd like to see lesser used heroines in team-ups (and even in supporting cast roles) with Wonder Woman.

5. A "Times Past" type story with Hippolyta as Wonder Woman in WWII... maybe one that would tie-in to a current story-arc.

6. A good balance between mythology and heroics. I'd also like to see other mythologies explored, and would they have their own warriors, similar to Wonder Woman, in the mortal realms?

I'll be honest and just say for Gail to keep up what she's doing. Though I wouldn't mind if she had Tomorrow Woman pop up or at the least have her news anchor secret identity of Clara Kendall report some breaking news that goes on in the series.

Mind you, I'm happy with what Gail is doing. I consider this wish list as a way of letting her know what fans are interested in. What she does with that knowledge is up to her and DC Comics...

Grodd. Maybe a Grodd and Cheetah team up, but Grodd.
Artemis with her complete male opposite. Nerdy, quiet, short. Ted Kord type or something like that. Maybe someone who can make her laugh.
Oh, and Grodd.

A wish list ... for some reason I'm now reminded of the Green Loontern ...

But for me:
1) Keep doing that voodoo that yoodoo so well.
2) More 'Wonder Family': Hippolyta, Donna, Cassie, Artemis ... Nubia would be great to see, as would Fury.
3) Doctor Cyber! Quite possibly one of the scariest 'mere mortal' villains in Diana's history.
