I'll say it and I mean no disrespect with my viewpoint...

I honestly thought Tom Tresser was gay.

I felt his cooing at Diana was as if he were overcompensating, then there is the fact that he looks like a guy who goes clubbing (its the hair), and on top of that the way he reacted to Hippolyta's telling him to sire children with Diana, he seemed to choke.

I believe Diana told him in one issue, "I realize it is hard to be yourself in your line of work." It made me think of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" seeing as Tom is in a quasi-military organization with the DMA.

It would have made sense to have Wonder Woman with a gay male supporting cast member. Not only that, it would have been innovative.

I guess you can have gay superheroes in the DCU, so long as they are women and not men (Batwoman, Scandal, Grace, Thunder).

Peace,

Kyle

Kyle, I thought he was gay, too. In fact, the awkwardness about the kiss when she was about to fight Genocide made me think he was, but that's not what Gail was going for apparently. I know, if he had been gay, it would have made many gay (male) fans happy to see. The last gay character that I recall in WW was Mindi Mayer's brother, although he wasn't a potential love interest for Diana.

Tom's hot. And I don't usually go for blonds (or fictional characters in general! )

Brett,

As a fellow admirer of Tom who do you imagine playing him in a movie?

For me its Channing Tatum. All the way. Wowza.

As a straight man, who's your choice?

I couldnīt stand Tom when he was introduced and was the usual "jerk-whoīs-convinced-his-female-partner-is-madly-in-love-with-him" character, and it didnīt help when they actually became a couple, that kind of resolution is just one of my most hated tropes (is that the right word?). In the issues by Gail Iīve read heīs been turned into somewhat more of an okay guy, but I donīt really think heīs an interesting character. That said, I havenīt read a WW issue since Genocide entered, I have to pick the series up again.

Channing Tatum should play Steve Trevor

I've never heard of Channing Tatum? Sounds like a DNA splice of Tatum O'Neil and Carol Channing.

I think Tom lacks substance. You could plug in anyone into the role he currently holds and it would be the same thing. Why was Nemesis forced into this book? He has no previous history with the character. It would be like putting Kyle Rayner's family in Superman or Batman.

Also, the current Tom is nothing like the one who appeared in Suicide Squad. That is why I say that he lacks any real substance. He is a "new character" for all intents and purposes, being thrown into the persona of a well-established character.

What is next? Batman is going to start saying, "Fabulous" in his book!?

Does anyone else agree?

I find poor Tom pretty darn boring, honestly.

Back when the first of Heinberg's issues came out, I think I was more strongly in favor of Tom than anyone else in the planet.

He seemed like the absolute perfect choice.

He's a mortal, completely human, but so skilled in one area (disguises) that he was almost functioning like a superhuman. He's strong in areas that Diana is not, meaning he could be of use to her in stories and really shine without stepping on her feet. He had an interesting origin and years of good stories in his own right. Here was a boyfriend that could really stand alongside Wonder Woman, someone who excelled in areas that Diana doesn't (and shouldn't). And the idea of an "Avatar of Truth" dating one of the greatest deceivers on the planet... it had potential, in my opinion. Plus there was something a little like Steve Trevor, so he might appease a few fans of that character.

But then... oh good gravy, those first appearances were awful. His personality was butchered (and while I applaud how Gail has been slowly trying to incorporate more of the old Tom, it still just doesn't feel like Nemesis to me). How their relationship got started was painful to watch, and, more often than not, felt incredibly forced. Plus "dating Tom" seems to come hand-in-hand with "Agent Diana Prince," and Diana's whole fake identity, something I couldn't be more oppossed to if I tried. I'm sorry to see him go, but at the same time... this relationship is a poor sick animal that needs to be put to sleep.

It's a damn shame. I maintain that, handled well, he could have been THE modern boyfriend for Diana.

I adore him and want to give him a hug. And I'm glad the current artists don't draw him to look like Brad Pitt anymore.

There is simply only one possible choice in my mind for someone to play Tom on screen...

That's right, Justin Hartley.

I mean, just LOOK at the guy! It is almost impossible to believe that Bernard Chang was not looking at a picture of Mr Hartley while he was doint the art for issue number 24, where Tom meets Hippolyta. The resemblance is simply uncanny!

Good call! I'd watch anything Justin Hartley was in, and was crushed when Aquaman (or Mercy Reef if you prefer) wasn't picked up. Anything to keep this guy onscreen (and shirtless) as often as possible!

Well you know me, Gail. When it comes to Tom, I couldn't stay out of trouble if it were Ares' personal restroom and the engaged sign was on the door.

Tom Tresser is so sexy, one time in the men's locker room he made Blackbolt whistle.

The evidence would seem to indicate that he's not gay.

Nemesis used to date Nightshade; maybe after that, he's just a little leery about getting into a relationship with another super-heroine ?

Tom Tresser is so sexy...

he is an honorary citizen of the planet Cargg*.

*Cargg is the home planet of the of Legion of Super-Heroes member Triplicate Girl. Its natives have the power to split themselves into three identical beings, and for this reason Cargg is widely considered to be the sexiest planet in the universe. It is a well known 31st Century saying that "once you've had Carggite, Carggite and Carggite, you never go back."

Has Wonder Woman ever had a love interest that doesn't look like a movie star/hunk/model? I remember Trevor Barnes was sorta like that dude from the sci-fi show and now Tom. Has she ever encountered a guy with love handles, a regular Joe-kinda haircut, and no supermodel-features? ( Ithink that if there's a character that wouldn't mind dating a non-hot-in-the-traditional-sense person, it would be Wondy)

I think Ed Indelicato and Mike Schorr were both regular-looking guys. I think that's why I liked them a lot, because they looked, acted and "felt" like humans...as opposed to the perfectly coiffed, muscular, oh-so-hot supermodels that Jimenez and now Gail seem to prefer...

I will never be able to watch Smallville again without thinking "Nemesis" when Justin Hartley is on screen. Of course, this means that if Smallville ever brings Nemesis onto the show, they're going to have to kill Oliver Queen first, because no one else will do.
