Romances you were quietly keen on....

Anybody ever wish any of the x-romance that was hinted on but later on never developed, really went somewhere? An example would be the Cable and Storm relationship. They were becoming close friends around the Onslaught era but seemed to have been dropped after Operation:Zero Tolerance. I thought it was weird seeing as how Storm provaply changed his diapers once but still was willing to see where it went and was open minded about it. Another one was the Cyclops and Psycloke stuff. And even the potential Iceman and Rogue stuff though these days I am glad they were just good friends.

Any examples out there that you wish was explored on more?

I actually don't mind the idea of Rogue and Colossus together. They are both kinda boring in my opinion and could force them into stronger personalities (see: Angel and Psylocke... I like them when they are together).

I don't like the idea of Wolverine and Storm together. They are just friends. I was disappointed Claremont brought them together... sort of... in his recent Uncanny run. Not everyone needs to be a pairing.

I'm in debate about a Jubilee/Synch relationship too. I feel like they might just be friends. But it would be nice if Jubilee got a boyfriend so she would have another character to be attacted to so she isn't so dependent on Wolverine.

Ditto Bishop/Sage...maybe just as buddy pairing... but that also ended too soon.

I liked the Northstar/Iceman pairing. But it will never happen. Oh well.

Emma and Banshee was another fun one. But that element almost felt TV story-ish. They flirt and everyone else sees it but don't get together till the end. (Kind of like Jim and Pam from The Office... it might work better as a flirtation where we hope they get together. It does downhill when they actually are together.)

Wisdom and Kitty... MUCH better than her and Colossus.

Beast and Celia.

Hellion and Wind Dancer were kinda cool too. Not a favorite. But I like how he was totally douche guy and then wasn't with her.

I liked in Young X-Men (I know... I surprise myself) in the future reality that Wolverine and Emma were together. It worked because it was like everyone died off and all the had was each other. And then it just works. (Similar to Juliet and Swayer on Lost).

His recent Uncanny had pairings all over the place. I agree, I don't like them together at all.

YES and YES. Marrow was one of the best things about that run, can't believe she was just shoved into comic book limbo. :frown: Doubtless she'll wind up being killed soon to show how "Serious" the villain is and how "Dangerous" things are. That's what generally happens to characters the writers don't care about.

And Northstar and Iceman MUST happen. If Jean-Paul can just get him to stop pining for Mystique and move on.

I'm glad they didnt pursue this one. It just seemed kind of forced from the writer.
Wolverine and Domino I though was pretty interesting, and I would love to have seen Storm and Cable at least played out rather than forgotten.

I know its a very VERY random pairing but I think Nightcrawler and Mercury would make a good couple (apart from the obvious Age gap). Nightcrawlers been through a lot of the same stuff that Mercury is going through with having such a physical mutation and being alienated so he could make a good mentor for her at the very least.

I think Claremont was basically throwing everything against the wall to see if it would stick. Supposedly there was a six-month gap(Marvel time) before his return, so he tried to change as much as he could, just for the sake of change. He had Kurt enter the priesthood, turned Kitty into Li'l Miss Angerball(he's obsessed with writing her as always angry lately, and with claws!), named Rogue and Gambit as team leaders, introduced a new Thunderbird as Betsy's love interest(sorry, Angel), et cetera.

If he had been given the time to nurture his storyline, to show how the X-Men got to that point and where they were headed from there, things could have been interesting. Due in part to editorial fiat(they wanted the team to more closely match the mood of the new X-Men movie that was coming out at that time), the story died before it could get started. Not that I saw any long-term future in a Colossus/Rogue pairing; they were never more than friends. Oh well...

Its from Marvel vs. DC... several popular/prominent Marvel characters were teamed up against DC characters... Storm fought Wonder Woman, Batman fought Wolverine (I think,) Jubilee fought Robin.

Jubes and Robin ended up crushing on eachother and ending the battle after Robin tied her up and was declared the winner... I think they went on a date or two.
Later in Marvel/DC All Access, Jubilee met up with a hero known as Access that had the ability to teleport characters into either the Marvel or DC universe... Jubilee requested to visit Robin, and the two of them teamed up to defeat Two-Face. They switched Jubilee's trenchcoat with Robin's cape so Two Face thought Jubes was Robin (from a distance...) She flash blinded him and hit his legs with Robin's bo staff... and Robin kicked him off the building while swinging from his grappling gun.
After that I think they faced off against the Reptile from Spiderman.

still, its a neat story since the two of them are similar in their own ways. (well known sidekicks to the top heroes from Marvel and DC... that later go on to lead their own teams- New Warriors and Teen Titans.)

It was pretty apparent that Bobby had a secret crush on Rogue, but never really acted on it. That much was obvious, by the boyish pranks he played on her, and the witty remarks to make her laugh.

The other possibility that I might have been okay with was between Bobby and Cecelia. One's a slacker, and the other takes life far too serious. They say opposites attract, but I don't see that relationship lasting for too long, unless he takes on a more serious personality as a result of them coupling.

I know its a very VERY random pairing but I think Nightcrawler and Mercury would make a good couple (apart from the obvious Age gap). Nightcrawlers been through a lot of the same stuff that Mercury is going through with having such a physical mutation and being alienated so he could make a good mentor for her at the very least.

I would be squicked by a romance, but I would LOVE for him to be her mentor. The role comes so naturally for him and we've seen hints of it, but he never gets the chance to develop a solid relationship with anyone before he gets shoved to the background again. I could see him make a great mentor for Mercury, Pixie or even Anole. I think they need it.

Have there been any scenes with Logan mentoring Pixie since that car ride ages ago?

I also really liked Marrow/Cannonball. Shame it didn't last.... Marrow needs to be repowered and back. Her on the New Mutants or X-Men with Sam would be pretty interesting.
