Haven't really read X-Men, but I'd have to say Supes' heat vision. When he totally cuts loose with it, WOW. He atomized an army of Doomsday clones in Superman/Batman.

I would say Supermans heat vision is more powerful it is Superman after all he has always been rediculously overpowered.

But they are quite different weapons when you research them. Cyclops Optic blasts can be used as a concussive blast to knock a guy out or rebound off walls to hit a target (thanks to scotts uncanny positional awareness) as well as a traditional "laser" type attack that can burn and/or cut.

Supermans heat vision is exactly what it says it is its a laser of intense heat that can be created at differet levels to cut, burn or vaporise.

Considering that Superman can switch his vision to X-Ray, 4-D, and probably other spectral, he easily has a more versatile pair of eyes. But there is a huge difference between kinetic energy discharge, which Cyclops can use as a concussive blast, and the pure red-hot laser beam of Superman's eyes, which in rage-mode can go wide-beam and immolate.

But it's already not a fair comparison anyway ... as if a fight between Superman and Cyclops would ever come down to a face-off with laser vision ... Superman would have him beat in under a second.

Cyke's optic 'blasts' are really just a battering ram of sorts.

Supe's has a bit more in his tool box that he can do with his heat vision as someone else mentioned he has the sheer power to destroy an entire army of Doomsday clones and the precision needed to melt a specific circuit in a runaway missile to cause it to tumble harmlessly into the ocean.

Cyclops is capable of that precision but with Superman you actually get to see him use his heat vision in a variety of ways compared to the X-Men where Cyke justs uses his optic blasts to do just that, blast people.

Exactly. They're two different types of energy discharge so it's like asking which is more powerful, a flamer thrower or being hit with a baseball bat by a juiced up Mark McGuire?

And Superman once heated the earth from space when the sun was blacked out. This was post-Crisis. There's your answer right there.

Totally different attacks. Superman heat vision is focused beam of heat (its theorized its actually a form of Pyrokinesis). Cyclops' beams are concussive, or to put it better: THEY'RE PUNCHES, FROM THE PUNCH DIMENSION!!

Cyclops: 'My Ruby Quartz lenses prevent my Optic Blasts from running wild!'

Professor X: 'Shut up Scott.'

Cyclops: '........'

In X-Factor #39 (vol 1) it does seem like Cyclops' eye beam is desintegrating Mr. Sinister, the effect of his final blow is certainly not concussive. In contrast, Superman's heat vision was concussive in his first fight vs Doomsday.

But Superman is going to win this. Even if both guys have a near-infinite upper limit in regards to the intensity and the volume of the eye beaam/heat vision, Superman has the better stamina.

Superman easily wins this. When you can warm a planet with your HV, that pretty much blows away anything Scott has done.

Maybe Cyke could give the Earth a good pummeling massage?

Supermans is hotter, Cyclops' is harder. In a face-off Supes would have the extra stamina to take it if it lasted too long, but, even though Superman's my fave, I think I'd kinda' be pulling for Scott. Just like Flash being faster, if Superman wins it takes a little from these guys only thing, where as Superman is also a flying, invulnerable, immortal, superstrong, superfast god-man who shoots fire from his eyes that also work as microscopes, telescopes, see x-rays, infrared, ultraviolet and who knows how much firther up and down the spectrum (soul vision?), plus he can go for very extended periods without food/drink/air/sleep, has an increased healing factor, has arctic breath and straight superbreath, Kryptonian tech and martial arts knowledge, he's a pulitzer prize winning journalist and often leader of the JLA, the old Question mini gave him and updated super ventriliquism trick...let Flash and Cyk have this.

This isn't even close, not in any way shape or form. Sure they are two different types of energy, but that doesn't in any way shape or form negate the fact that Supes Heat vision is vastly, vastly more powerful then Scott's optic beams.

And not that I am dogging on Scott. One of my favorite things about the Marvel Universe (and over the last 20 years this has been changing in my mind for the worst) is that the characters have had (again stupid past tense in for many) a much, much lower power level then DC characters. That has (again past tense, stupid marvel) of grounding their characters and helping that universe seem more "real".

Cyclop's optic blasts at its maxcan pummel a mountain. It is a concussive force. Supes can burn stuff with thousands of degrees of heat. Not to mention there isn't really a limit to what Superman can do. Writers can make him do whatever they want. DC has a tendency to do that. Take it however you want I guess...
