Uncanny X-Men: The X-Corcism of Megan Gwynn

Matt Fraction, CBR fan-favorite writer of Uncanny X-Men, is well-known for his off-panel subplots and story details.

The first subplot recognized is his ulterior motive to re-create Phat Karma by showing her eating high-fat, high-sugar cereal with her new best friend, Pixie.

That subplot was introduced around the same time Craig Kyle and Chris Yost were writing the Shadow King's return, which had Karma confront the Shadow King for approximately 3 panels during Storm's mini, X-Men: Worlds Apart.


However, the most important subplot is that of Nightcrawler's. During his absence in Uncanny X-Men and having been reduced to the background behind Cyclops and Emma Frost, Kurt has been studying hard. Living in his own temple, Kurt has been seen praying and being priestly, because that is what his character is ALL about. Reduced to irrelevance by a certain winged, pink-haired Tinkerbell, perhaps Kurt is bitter at his teleporting replacement.

Is it simply bitterness? Or perhaps Nightcrawler loathes Pixie due to his understanding that she is now a demon child of the hellish Limbo? It goes against his very religion! And Kurt is a character that is ONLY and ALL about religion.

She's fully capable of performing various mystical ceremonies.:wink:

Hm. Might be a fun story if Pixie is transported to a fairy tale land where unicorns turn out to just be elitist assholes, totally ruining her fascination with them. Pixie then has to come to terms with this death of innocence and help overthrow the evil unicorn empire.

AGREED:biggrin: Pixie and her evil Unicorn going on adventures sounds like the best X-Men spin off EVER!

And since all titles need Wolverine gratuitously inserted to them, he can be dragged along the ground by the Unicorn for a few pages each issue. As punishmet for trying to make Pixie his "Sidekick":eek:
