I'm very happy this book with this team exists. We didn't learn much about what's to come, really, but hey. I also like the idea of a program using Weapon-X's progress for something benevolent, but I doubt we'll ever see that...

For some reason the name of the series looks like a red hering to me.
I mean it's titled with Weapon X, but if no one else from it except Maverick is going to appear in it and if it only takes place in the present with no actualy Weapon X programm involved, how the hell can you keep calling it Wolverine: Weapon X?
Sure he is the Weapon X, so you could say it's about his live as a made weapon. But that doesn't seems like a good reason to name that series like this.
Besides Wolverine took care of these soldiers and the next arc has nothing to do with Weapon X at all anymore.
So this whole book is just a normal Wolverine series, a well written one with great art which is defeninetly worth reading under Aaron, but still only a "Wolverine and his wacky, bloody advantures" comic.
Ah, who cares.

Hopefully. It's likely to be just a brief cameo like the other ones, but that's at least something. Maybe that stupid Mystique thing will be addressed a bit more. Either way, Kurt in a Wolverine title makes me giddy.

I want to like Cable, but just don't. I think a "Jason Aaron" down to earth approach to the character might be just what he needs. Bring him back and throw him into situations like Wolverine is in right now in Wolverine: Weapon X. Taking out evil corporations, overthrowing third-world dictators, etc. Basically like Soldier X, but with better art. That's what I'd like to see anyway.

Cable and Deadpool also SOMETIMES did a good job of getting Cable down to earth again.
The whole arc with Flagsmasher and the eastern europe country is a good example for that.

Amen to that. Romulus and Daken have done something I never thought was possible. Give Wolverine a more confusing and less realistic origin then he already had. And the fact that they had to kill off Sabertooth before they introduced these characters just shows you that even Joe Q new these characters where lame. He also knew that they would never be considered Wolverine's chief rivals if Sabertooth was around.
Oh and the fact that they have explained all of Wolverine's past but failed to make Creed a big part of it was a major error as well. Your company spends what 20; 30 years foreshadowing that Sabertooth knows more about Wolverine then anyone and then when you are about to reveal it all you kill him off and say oh he wasn't really important to Wolverine anyway.

Getting back to this article. I think I may cave and pay the four bucks for this title. The writting by Jason is top notch. And the art is excelent as well. A rare example of what this medium can achieve with top tallent. I got to see these from a buddy but I will start buying them at the start of the new arc. I must say Jason has taken this character back to the one we have all know and love. He is gruff, he is violent, he has a sarcastic side, and most importantly he is not invincible! I completely agree with Jason that I like my Wolverine more down to earth not a guy who can have all the flesh burned off his bones in one pannel and gutting the villian without a scratch in the next.
I haven't bought a comic since Ultimatium #2 but this may get marvel atleast four of my dollars back a month. Hey if any of Disney's evil corprate spies are reading this can you do something about the recent price increase? I know Joe Q will tell you thats a good idea but soon you guys will learn to take what that guy tells you with a grain of salt.

Jason Aaron's grasp on Wolverine is incredible. This is that one book you can give to someone who thinks "Why the fuck is Wolverine so popular?". His dry sense of humor, his great superpowers, iconic look, and ability to get into fantastically drawn fight scenes
Plus, I like how the story is getting switched up from the espionage/action movie feel of this one, to a creepy horror film(with new artwork to boot) in the next arc. As long as Aaron is writing it, you can count on my money.

If the new Weapon X program is using nanites instead of a mutant healing factor to repair wounds, wouldn’t nanites have limits? And what would those be? It surprised me that all Wolverine had to do at the end of issue #4 was stab the soldier through the heart to kill him – especially after the huge tumble they both took.
It wasn't just the stab through the heart that took down Wolvie's opponent in issue #4 – it was the cumulative effect of all those blows. Like you said, that healing factor has a limit. And Logan was able to overload it.
LOL... wtf is this. Wolverine has been beaten worse than that and he has still come out alive. This is very lazy storytelling from Aaron.... I like him better on scalped.

No, it's Aaron trying to get past the lazy storytelling of recent years and back to Wolverine's roots. Remember in the early years of the character, where he still faced a real risk of death? Where he actually seemed mortal? And then he became so ridiculous. Guggenheim tried to fix it, first by showing how ridiculous it had gotten in the Vendetta arc and then explaining and doing away with the invulnerability in The Death of Wolverine, but that was all promptly ignored by writers used to using Wolverine as nigh invincible. Aaron seems to be trying to get it to a point where people can actually present a credible threat to Wolverine again.

I haven't felt the need to include Wolverine: Weapon X on my pull list only because I have so many on my list that include him anyway (i.e. X-Force, Origins, New Avengers, etc.). All of which I am enjoying. No offence to Jason Aaron. He does amazing Wolverine stories, it's just that his stories don't strike me as anything different.
Origins for me, is one of my favourite Wolverine titles for reasons I think most people disagree with. I'm glad they killed Sabretooth, although lets be honest, how many people think this death will last. But regardless, I think they over used him as Wolverine's central villain for too long and I find Romulus and Daken fresh alternatives. Especially Daken. I'm not totally sold on Romulus yet as they seem to be building him as a potential big baddie in the marvel universe and that may not be a good idea. But I think bringing in these characters has made Wolverine's origins so much more interesting than just Sabrertooth knowing more than ...Wolverine...does...zzzzzzzzzzz.

Writers used Creed like the U.S. government is using our tax dollars... wastefully and pretty often. They should have limited his appearances instead of oversusing him. A Sabretooth appearance use to mean something. But I'm glad they killed him off.
You're missing Wolverine the way he should be done - minus the clean super heroics -only with the down and gritty action that defined the character so long ago.
Oh and for a realistic use of his healing factor - read Hama and Silvestri's Wolverine 31-33... this is what happens when's he's overloaded.
I hope so! I love this series and want Emma to be in it!
I will put Emma in my prayers that she is granted a role in Wolverine Weapon X. God knows she needs panel time.

I would not say ridiculous per se... If you want Wolverine in shiny, over-the-top superheroic comics, It does not hurt to have him with a super-healing factor.
However, it is also true that, (IMO) the character works best in a different environment, the one provided by W:WX... the same goes for other characters like Mystique, Nightcrawler or, depending how she is handled, Betsy... Powers not as bombastic as, lets say Phoenix or the Sentry, and the general setting of an action/gangsters/spies film
I love that Aaron is writing a Wolverine that does have a limit to the amount of punishment he can take. Not only is an indestructible Wolverine boring and absurd but it turns his healing factor into some sort of magic trick instead of an organic part of his body. The writers who lost sight of the fact that Wolverine not only feels every punch, stab and laser bolt he gets hit with but that his healing factor -like any other part of his body- could eventually succumb to exhaustion should be paying attention to Wolverine's older comics and Weapon X.
Besides, everyone knows the only truly invincible character in comics is Butt-Bomb Boy.

You should read X-Men Forever! Sabretooth got his eyes burned out like eight weeks ago and he's still recovering!
Oh and Wolverine died from a strike of lightning, so he isn't recovering.

LOL, I was hoping for a Wolverine that had limits, not one that had sailed well past them and landed in the grave. Still, I should check out Forever. While Claremont tended fall back on the schtick of having Wolverine's healing factor pushed to the breaking point a bit too much at least he showed the consequences to Wolverine's body from getting badly beaten.

Hmm I wouldn't bother. The first three issues were actually pretty good and enjoyable IMHO, but the 4th one started reading like a Claremont comic and that isn't a good thing these days.
Try it out though, maybe you can find the first few issues at your local shop still. (waits for Blade X and Excelsior to bust in and be like... "OMG mine were sold out I traveled to three different states to find the first issue!")

I like how Aaron said he was going to mix in a Horror Story, a space story, a kung fu story, etc. This is one of the best books on the shelves. I'm really looking forwaard to the up-coming arcs. As for Guest Appearances that I really want to see in Wolverine: Weapon X:
-Ares: I think it would be interesting to see Ares try to make Logan his avatar. Someone needs to write them having a full out battle, and not just trading a few blows like what has been shown so far. This is my dream character for Wolverine to interact with...& I want the Oeming mini series bad-ass Ares.
-Phantomex & Marvel Boy: I know we have The List coming out with these two in it...but I hope to see them in the main book too. It's like Aaron read my mind when I first heard about Weapon X: The List
-Bucky: These two have a pretty dark past together...I'd actually LOVE to see the issue addressed between Daken, Bucky, and Logan...because Bucky killed Itsu while he was brain-washed...but I know Aaron would prob say this is better left to Origins or Daken's book. Either way, Bucky would make an awesome guest-star. I'd love to see interaction between Logan, Bucky, and Maverick. I'd also love to see Steve Rogers too...it was hinted at that Steve did some things that he wasn't proud of with regards to Logan and the Weapon X project...that would be an interesting story.
-Iron Fist, Shang Chi, Elektra, Daredevil, White Tiger, Black Tarantula: I'm begging for another Kung-Fu centric arc...it would be cool to see Wolverine call in some help if he was having some trouble with the Black Dragon thing...like against an army of super-powered Kung Fu masters...he could call in Danny & the Sons of the Tiger, Shang-Chi...him & Elektra are close lol.
Daredevil's the leader of the Hand now, so it would be really interesting to see what Wolverine has to say about that...which could also lead to a confrontation with White Tiger & Black Tarantula before things are settled.
Wolverine vs. Bullseye...nuff said.
I would say I'd like to see Skaar show up, but that's already being done in Origins and in Incredible Hulk.
And of course, I'd love to see all of the fights/team-ups like that were hinted at in
Wolverine #73:
-Spidey: A battle vs. the hordes of Hydra.
-New Avengers vs. the Serpent Society...yes please.
-Deadpool: I really want to see them vs. the Modoks
-The Punisher & Ghost Rider...Yessir...
-Wolverine & Thor: My two favorite characters
Also, I'm loving Garney on this book. He's perfect! I thought his run on the Get Mystique arc was pretty good, but the style and colors used in Weapon X look amazing. If other artist have to be brought on for the book, I hope that it's either Leinil Yu or David Finch. Just my thoughts...peace

Not really...even Kyle & Yost said if Logan really wanted to hurt X-23 in a fight she would probably lose. That's not a knock against X-23...but Logan is Logan.

I have the best Wolverine vs. Ares fight written in my head. It would be one of those things like with Omega Red where they'd fight for like a day in a deserted old Western town lol...both are battered and bloodied. It would end with Wolverine seemingly taking a few swipes and not doing much damage. Ares cuts Wolverine open...and while he gloats and goes in for the kill, he looks down and sees that Logan has swiped the pins off of the grenades Ares was carrying...& Logan let's out a "Heh" and both pass out from the explosion, the damage, and the blood loss. Then they wake up, and Logan jumps into a battle stance, but Ares is extremely happy and wants to get beers. Logan thinks he's crazy, but he does want beer...and Ares starts telling him war stories hahaha. Wolverine continues to look at Ares like he's crazy as they walk into a bar...and Ares starts a bar fight. The End. LOL
It's one of those things that potentially could be one of the greatest comic book battles ever. It's one of those things like Thor vs. the Sentry that just has to happen!

Hey if you are still checking this Mr. Aaron, are you going to keep developing new villians for Logan or are we going to see some classic villians too?
I've been trying to cut back down on comics for a while now, but I keep hearing good things about this title. I used to collect Wolvie's main title from #114 all the way up until a few issues after it relaunched. I've always preferred it when Wolverine had limits.
I just recently somehow got suckered into buying Dark Wolverine and have been enjoying it. I'll keep my eye on Wolverine: Weapon X, but I will definately buy an issue when Psylocke appears.

LOL unfortunately yes. Everytime I drop a comic there always ends up being another to take it's place!! It's maddening! I may start waiting for trades for some titles.
At least I'm strictly Marvel again though. It was hell picking up titles from Marvel, DC, Top Cow, and Wildstorm.
