When I heard the news today that Disney is buying Marvel, one of the first things I thought of was Steven's April Fool's joke this year that Fox was going to buy DC:

Also, a few years ago I was working for Disney until they sold my division to another company. Getting the contracts together for the sale was a really long, complex affair, so I'm assuming this Marvel deal has been in the works for months, at least since April or earlier.

There is a reason why the piece wasn't Disney buys Marvel, though that was the original version...

One thing you can depend on, though: virtually everything I make up happens in some form or another sooner or later...

Already did that one but you clearly misread it, about the writer with the pop culture/political column and lots of readers who suddenly comes into vast amounts of money... Subtle but important difference there, and you should follow tenses more carefully...

And if I wrote it your way odds are pretty good that rather than everyone becoming rich it'd turn out to involve some financial porn film...
