New school BFFs

The women of X used to be the hottest thing in Marvel. Jean, Storm, Psylocke, Dazzler, Rogue and Polaris were the go to girls of X. They ruled the polls of yesteryear and provided fanboys with tons of wet dreams. Now there is a wedge between the women:

Jean- dead.
Storm- married (a fate for a superhero possibly worse than death)
Psylocke- conviluted.
Dazzler- on stagey!
Rogue- free at last.
Polaris- space case.

The cornerstone of the X-girls has been shattered and only Psylocke and Dazzler seem to keep remnants of a friendship. Enter the new school:

Pixie
X-23
Mercury
Armor
Blindfold

Can these ladies take the spot of their old skool counterparts? Can they out sell bikini calenders between the two? Are you ready for the new cornerstone females of the X-universe? Do you know why they didn't bother to ask Sophia or the cuckoos join? With the original 6 in tatters, can these new X-ladies take the torch?

I think the one thing that was lost in recent years was the camaraderie between the teammates. That could very well be something that Claremont pushed on us since he LOVED the ideas of bffs (Storm + Jean, Storm + Kitty, Psylocke + Dazzler, Storm + Psylocke, Rogue + Storm, etc).

There is a bit of new school in here though if you consider Cannonball + Iceman and Monet + Siryn.

Psylocke and Dazzler weren't even especially friendly in the Aussie days. Really, I'd say each were far closer to the other X-ladies (Betsy & Ororo, Ali & Rogue). The classic pairings that really stick out imo were...

I'm a bit surprised that this pairing hasn't been explored yet, given their mutually shared love for themselves. I say that in the most endearing way possible, as I am a fan of both.
I encourage this and hope that Fraction incorporate this in further X-storylines now that they've relocated to their 'former-space-station-newly-obtained-floating-island-paradise':biggrin:

Siryn and Monet are pretty close now.

X-23 and Dust had a natural interest in each other, almost a friendship but not at all. It was weird.

Dust and Surge, I think, got to know each other and respect each other as time went by.

But I think this new group of girls that will be in the Pixie one-shot will be an interesting mix that we haven't seen before: a bunch of gals that aren't very alike and are all huge personalities. I love Blindfold. I want more of her.

I wish Husk would be in again. I always wanted her and Kitty to be BFFs. And Kitty and Sam to date.

Glad you like! I feel like they are both outsiders on the team and would get along.

I think Fraction is going for the Dazzler and Northstar pairing as hag and fag. Which is what most people at least here seem to want.

I think it is quite possible. We already know that X-23 and mercury are close and Blindfold and Armor had something in Astonishing. I really haven't seen pixie hang with any of them besides Anole (her reptilian protector). She has a common "rage mode" with X-23 so it wouldn't surprise me if they do come together. I know that 5 against 6 was unfair, but remember Surge is in the infirmary so she may have joined if not for recent happenings in X-force. I may see where this goes even if I don't actually care for one of the girls since I miss the commraderie the old skool girls used to have.

Truthfully, I don't think Emma has a best friend. She cares about alot of the X-men, but i don't really see a best friend status with her yet. She is getting really close with Beast, Storm and Colossus IMO with Beast probably being the strongest of the relationship. (I do have a feeling there may be a relationship with Psylocke on the horizon though) Colossus's friendship I think is based on the vents with Kitty. She still feels responsible and she kinda wants to be there for him now that Kitty isn't. I think she wants Storm to respect her. As second in command of the X-men its almost like Emma wants that girly friendship.....and Storm's been friends with everyone. Why not start there?

Emma is a different cup of tea than say, Dazzler. Dazzler is real good friends with Northstar and Pixie. Armor, X-23, Pixie and Elixir are good buds with Wolvie and we know Elixir and Beast are close. Emma kind of lost that relationship with the students for me. They know her and acknowledge her, but it still seems they don't like/trust her. Emma was real close with the cuckoos and that has spiraled downward and her motherly relationship with Hellion took a turn for the worst. I'm not quite sure what to think of her relationship with X-23 since its very odd. I just find it ironic that for a woman who devotes a lot of time and love to her students, it isn't portrayed that they love or appreciate her time at all. I want them to either bring in a new student or spotlight a student that likes Emma.

Its true, they are, but Hellion won't hang out with Rockslide if his lame little Freshman friends are around (Pixie, Indra, Anole). Hellion is too cool for that nonsense.

Sure, but it's still not near BFF territory. It's more along the lines of Kitty and Meggan, Shan and Rahne, Kurt and Sean, Scott and Bobby... sure they were friends and team mates, but I just find this movement to retroactively make Betts and Ali super tight to be at odds with their actual time together. Even in the girl's night out ish, Betts and Ali seemed the least interested in each other among all the girls.

The real interplay I'd like to see these days would be Rogue and Ali, but Carey seems perpetually disinterested in using her. :/
