I can officially say now that I am sick of Pixie. I enjoyed her in New X-Men, but this constant effort to make her an A-List character without demonstrating why we should care about ehr is really getting frustrating. It just seems so arbitary IMHO, like the editors at Marvel threw a dart at a board with a list of names, and Pixie's just happened to be there. Sigh. Immonen's been doing some good work on Runaways, but I think I'll give this one a pass. The New X-Men deserve better than to be vehicles for the Pixification.

What a strange group for a girl's night out. X-23 and Blindfold like to go clubbing? Who knew? If I were to list the girls I thought were Pixie's friends, I'd go with Trance, Loa, Mercury, Dust, and Surge. Not X-23, Armor, and Blindfold. But I suppose Immonen just went with the characters that she knew the best.

It does suck that the rest of the NXM are just ignored when Pixie is shoved down everyone's throats. Ah well. I'll flip through the first ish, and if I like what I see, I'll get it.

She's been forced to write about a character she has no affinity for because Marvel is trying to push Pixie as the next Shadowcat (or Jubilee). Fraction really screwed Pixie up pretty bad after C&C laid a pretty solid foundation to work with (it can't all be blamed on Fraction - Land really shares half the blame).

All that being said, Immonen seems to be doing her best with what she has to work with and I think she might be able to get some lipstick on this pig and at least trick us into taking it to the prom. Maybe we'll even enjoy ourselves?

I like Fraction's Pixie. I like Kyle/Yost's Pixie. I don't like Land's Pixie or Young's Pixie. I don't want her to be busty or 21 or look like some freakish bride of Frankenstein. I want her to be silly and talk too much but also to ride a moped and blind people. Pichelli's version of Pixie is rather lovely, so hopefully this is what we'll get.

Kyle/Yost, and Carey do the best Pixie. One was this extremely talkative, slightly annoying, hyperactive girl while the other was slowly a maturing and coming into her own while still retaining ome of her innocence you woman.

I don't pay attention to Fraction's Pixie, cause well its Fraction. But even so she has been somewhat tolerable.
I loathe Land(except for the image in my avatar), Ramos, and Young's Pixie.
Bachalo, Ryan, or Camuncoli Pixie for the win!
I will hold judgement on Pichelli Pixie until I see preview art.

Illyana trained in magic both light and dark for years. For a long time, her magic was much weaker on Earth than in Limbo, but it's not clear yet how that rule's holding up these days. (Logically, if she knows magic that works on Earth well enough to teach to Pixie, she should be able to do magic on Earth herself just fine.)

Amanda Sefton, Doctor Strange, Ashake (Storm's ancestor), Forge. There are tons of magical characters who are X-related. Plus MI-13 has a few mystical characters as well, Meggan, Captain Britain, etc...

Nightcrawler has a ton of experience with magic as well. He probably couldn't teach her any spells but he could probably teach her how to fight demons.

Frankly, I initially had a hard time trying to figure out what was interesting about her at all. Sure--the soul dagger and missing a chunk of her soul-- but my problem with her was really how little it seemed to affect her. And that’s not because she hasn’t been written well, not at all! But because she’s just so fundamentally upbeat, resilient and cute as all get out. And it’s not something that should be tampered with.

Trance has gotten some excellent panel time as of late, in Legacy, if I'm not mistaken. Not to say she doesn't deserve exposure, but I feel these characters being brought together, for whatever purpose, should prove a very entertaining read.

Remember, supporting role doesn't usually mean "stands in the background while Cyclops blabs on nonsensically". Supporting role usually means "helps to lift the book higher and adds both strength and purpose to a story of any sort".

I'm looking forward to this. Kyle and Yost's New X-Men series is one of my top 5-favorite runs of all time. I love these characters. :)
