I was wondering what Superman and Black Lightings friendship/working relationship was like?

Are there any particular stories someone could please recommend with the two teaming up or working together?

Black Lighting original series #4-5, Black Lightning Year One #3 and Justice League of America original series #173.

It's funny: in many ways, Black Lightning started out in the Superman sphere of influence, having begun his career in Metropolis. He might have ended up a great part of the extended Superman Family except for that dick, Batman, snatched him up in stories like Batman and the Outsiders, and thereafter he's been in Gotham City near the Batman Family.

If you'd like to read one of the better team ups, check out DC Comics Presents #16 between Superman and Black Lightning.

As has been pointed out above, Black Lightning Year One #3 is quite good on this account. And its fairly recent too.

The mini kind of fell apart right after that issue, but that's kind of irrelevent to how well it illustrated the relationship.

That Justice League story and his origin, which I read on one of those scan websites, and the first 10 issues of Meltzers JLA are the extent of my Black Lighting reading.

I don't know a lot about the character. Is he no longer associated with Suicide Slum? I wonder how that came to be, being put in Metropolis, you'd think he'd been designed to be a part of the Super corner of the DC universe. From what little I know I think he'd be a good fit in the super books.

And I'll take a look for the Year One trade and DC Comics Presents. Thanks folks.

robinson wrote him into 'Superman' with Mon-El but had to write him out because he'd already been snapped up by outsiders
