A modern version of the classic Defenders would be cool.

Doctor Voodoo: As the new sorcerer supreme his place on this team is pretty much guaranteed. I'd also say that he's the best person to lead this team.

Skaar: As the original Hulk is unavailable and the only other Hulk like being is bad guy bastard this good guy bastard will have to do.

Firelord: The Silver Surfer is busy with feeding Galactus so we need another herald. Stardust is helping Silver Surfer and Terrax is trying to make the universe fear him again. Firelord is all that is left, and quite frankly I wouldn't complain about that.

Namor: The only one of the classical Defenders team who is able to still act as a Defender. Also it's always fun to see Namor get pissed off at new people. This new and different Defenders team would be good ground for that.

Danielle Moonstar: She's the only person on Earth with even a smidget of valkyrie powers that I can think of at the moment.

If you're looking for replacements, there's always that Joaquin Pennyworth, the guy Richmond was training to be the new Nighthawk. Although since Osborn took over, I can't imagine Kyle sticking to his Stark-imposed exile.
