Just wondering what the Marvel Zombies Dead Days TPB is about. I didn't read any MZ books until volume 3 (that was because it was coming to the 616 and was written by Van Lente), but I have gone back and got the trades for volumes 1 and 2, and I loved them (I should have known, Kirkman is a great writer). But I am on the fence about Dead Days. I know there is a one shot by Kirkman, but the other parts of the book are Ultimate FF and Black Panther. Is it worth picking up? When does it take place in the MZ continuity? Does it actually have the zombies coming to the 616 MU?

The Dead Days one-shot is kind of the origin story, it's set shortly before the zombies first appear (Ultimate Fantastic Four 21-23, I believe, which itself is set right before Marvel Zombies 1).

The Black Panther issues are set at some point between Marvel Zombies 1 and Marvel Zombies 2.

None are set in the 616 universe.

I thought Dead Days was mildly amusing. Mildly. The problem, for me, was it showed things that we already knew about from Marvel Zombies, so there were no surprises, really. It just felt heavy-handed to me. Here's Spider-man devouring Mary Jane Watson and Aunt May, haha. But you know, it was OK.

The Black Panther issues were slight, and you knew that none of the characters could actually be killed (since it featured the zombies who escaped earth, and were already appearing in MZ 2, decades in the future). I kind of enjoyed them, actually.

Basically if you liked MZ 1 and 2, you'll probably enjoy the Dead Days stuff.

The Dead Days One-shot leads into the first three issues of Ultimate FF (the Crossover storyline) which then lead into the first Marvel Zombies trade
The next 3 issues of Ultimate FF take place after the first Marvel Zombies trade (except for the epilogue at the end of the story)

The Black Panther issues take place after Marvel Zombie 1 and before MZ 2, and is the first interaction between 616 and the Zombies (however, its the 616 New FF that travel to the Zombieverse.)

MZ 3 again takes place between MZ1 and MZ2, and has the Zombieverse invading 616, and MZ 4 is set wholly on 616 earth

That being said, my biggest complaint about the Dead Days trade is the fact that it doesn't lend itself to easy reading with the other books (there are times I'll sit and read trades back to back)

I'd have split it into 2 trades
Dead Days and Ultimate FF 21-23
and then the Black Panther issues

I liked the Frightful story, but it really doesnt seem to be essential to the Marvel Zombies saga...
and lastly, will we /ever/ see Ultimate Doom vs Marvel Zombies: The Untold Story?

I probably won't get this as I already own the UFF issues. Doesn't seem worth it for the origin story and BP stuff.

I lose hope every day...
