I have not read a comic in about 10 years (when I was 12) but I was at my local store the other day and saw a Venom Dark Origins comic. I purchased it but then found out there are 4 more books.
Disappointed I then went back to the same store to finish the story but sadly they didn't have the other ones. Then I was browsing around some more and noticed that pretty much all of the comic books they have are all part of a series. But then there was Sensational Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man... not gonna lie I was confused as hell.
Where does one start when looking to get back into the Marvel comics? Or is it a lost cause if you haven't been around from the start?

It hasn't changed that much from when you were reading. If you're talking about single issue comics, there aren't a lot of "done in one" stories. Mostly they're serialized, whether they are minis or just part of a multi-part storyline in a regular book.
You might want to try looking into trade paperbacks. They usually have the entire story. That, or try to jump on to a book at the start of a storyline. You seem to like Spider-Man. That's actually a pretty easy book to jump into. It comes out three times a month, so the storylines tend to be a bit shorter.

I find the comics confusing as well. so what i do is just stick to one comic series and read anything else that may be relevant on wiki. Easier to follow that way

I wasn't really reading back then it was more of a situation where I had a couple dollars and spent it on a comic book every now and then.
Trade paperbacks... uhh that is something like the Venom Dark Origins series, right? 5 books to tell and wrap the story? That is something that I am looking for because as I browse around this board some more I see people posting about the 600th issue of The Hulk and I don't want to jump into the middle with the 600th issue. Unless I am misunderstanding how it works.
Basically my love for comic books heroes are anything that was involved in some form of entertainment. Be it moves/games/cartoons/action figures. Recently I seen Hulk vs. Wolverine and loved seeing the two go at it. Not that Wolverine should of been any challenge for Hulk but it was still fun. That was also where my obsession with Deadpool comes from.

Trades look more like books. They generally collect half a dozen issues or so.
