I cannot WAIT for this movie. I really haven't been excited to see a movie in the theater as much as I am for this.
I love that's it's an original property without graverobbing nostalgia (although it is based on a shortfilm by the same director). It's just nice to see something come along that's not depending on people being an established fan base or an adaptation of something else. I also really like how it seems dark and whimsical at the same time.

EDIT: Here's the original short film.

Absolutely!
We saw the first trailer at the theater (with "Coraline", maybe...?), and my daughter and I just looked at each other and said "Oh, yeah...!"

Totally wanting to see that, but I may be too tired as I'll just be a day in from Atlanta.

"A mad scientist creates a team of sentient ragdolls in order to defend a post-apocalyptic wasteland frrom killer mutant robots." Best movie premise ever.

I hadn't even heard of this movie till about a week ago.
Saw a commercial for it and was all like "what the . . .? KEWL!"
Very rare for something new to catch you by surprise anymore, but I love when it happens.

Yeah I saw the trailer the first time with Coraline also (in 3D no less) and just went "I want to see this now!"
I've been psyched for the movie ever since.

I keep getting confused between this "9" and the musical with Daniel Day Lewis. I am looking forward to both.

A friend of mine told me about it over lunch a couple of months back and it sounded like the dumbest freakin thing I'd ever heard of. After seeing the previews, now I can't wait.

Often that's the case. But getting talented people involved, and building upon material that was already brilliantly executed, is a very good sign in most cases.

As am I.
Someone should mash-up 9, Nine, and District 9.

Yes. I want to see District 9 and I just saw Plan 9 from Outer Space at the live Riff Trax event last week.
2009 is the year of the 9.
