Of all the things Gail has written--THE SIMPSONS, ACTION COMICS, BIRDS OF PREY, WONDER WOMAN, SECRET SIX, VILLIANS UNITED, TEEN TITANS, THE ATOM, WELCOME TO TRANQUILITY, DEADPOOL, THE LEGION, ROSE & THORN, GEN 13, etc--what has been your absolute FAVORITE single issue?
This is really tough because I can think of five issues right off the bat, but I think I'm going to go with WONDER WOMAN #19 because of this scene:

I love that scene. It shows Wonder Woman's best qualities :), the way that while she's a powerful warrior she's willing to offer the olive branch of peace at the same time. That said my favourite EVER issue has to be the double date issue of Secret Six. It has two of my favourite sixers Jeanette and Scandal as the main characters, it has Ragdoll's Tiny Six dream, it's got Scandal buying dog collars for Jeanette's bondage fun and Insignificus who, like Ragdoll, is both funny and sad.
Plus it has Liana who I'm hoping we'll see again. Scandal deserves some happiness after losing Knockout.

That's a really good story, too. I missed Nicola on the art, but the fill-in artist was incredible!

I agree, Wonder Woman #19 was brilliant characterization.
And the artwork really captured it.

I'd have to go with Simpsons Comics #50
Gail's story of how Bongo comics are made was downright cute, very funny and what we need more of in today's comics...FUN. I'd take fun over shitty grim and gritty any day of the week.

BOP #88
and there are 2 reasons for that
1: Dinah buying all the dolls of herself with the "wing" costume
2: one of the few appearances by Ollie in the last 6 years where he is not a total dusche

Tough question, but I'm going with Birds of Prey #56.
You can bruise a Canary and you can batter the Oracle, but you can never break them.

There is an amusing story about that I'll tell a little later. :)

Deadpool #67. And I HATE Deadpool.
But I love the Dazzler. I had to hunt through 6 states to find a copy. So I bought 3 once I did.

So much great stuff to chose between.
I'm going with WW #15 for these two pages alone, which stand as two of the finest pages I've ever read in a comic book:

Great now I have to run through my list of comics again. I don't have a favorite, cause I love them all to pieces. It's like asking which hair on your head is your favorite.
I, in general, love the character interaction.
So for me, I have to say, "they so cyber did it."

It's definitely an issue of Welcome to Tranquility. Hard to choose just one though... probably #6, wrapping up the first arc.

This is very nice to hear, guys. I know people are going to make fun of me posting on a thread like this, but once in a while it's nice to read that people are enjoying your work.
I have several issues that are really meaningful to me.
I though Tranq #3 was one of the best things I'd ever done. I'm very proud of #8, which is all interconnected short stories.
I am immensely proud of the spotlight Gen 13 issues, but my favorite is the Bobby one, where music changes his life.
I enjoyed my first two issues of Action a lot, mainly because it was such a revelation how fun the cast was to write.
I really enjoyed the JLA: Classified arc I did.
My favorite Simpsons issue was the one with the family going to Scotland with Willie. I think it might be my best script.
Favorite Bop is the issue Michael Golden drew.
I was very fond of the Villains United special. And I think issue three of the ongoing, the one with Cheetah, is very good.
Loved Rose and Thorn, think number four was my favorite, but can't remember why.
For Deadpool, it was the Dazzler issue. For Agent X, probably number six, where they fought EVERYONE.
For Wonder Woman, I really liked #15.
Those are my faves, I think, that I can recall.

It really, really is.

That's what Nevermore thought. I remember distinctly she said something like "Issue #14 was very good, especially after what came before, but issue #15 WAS AWESOME"

I was extremely impressed by the Villains United Special. To produce a comic that concludes in the middle of someone else’s story and still not cheat the reader--an amazing feat. But change “favorite single issue” to “favorite single STORY,” then I have to go with “There Would Be No Spring” from BoP # 75. Its essence was actually one brief scene, two characters in a diner; but when you nail that kind of scene, no matter the medium, it’s pure magic. You did not even need to know who Zinda and Dinah were to appreciate their interaction; the core of each character came shinning through.

Mine is whichever Agent X issue it is where Deadpool comes back. The panels where he checks to make sure that his yellow boxes are still there are just perfect.
Hmmm...I've been thinking about this for a while now, but to squarely vote on ONE comic by Gail...it's hard.
I really loved the first Villains United series, so it may be one of those issues, but some of her Deadpool was fantastic. For me, there is also the question of Rose & Thorn. While I initially disliked that series, I went back to it after some time, and found that I liked it a lot more. But I'm just going on memory. I may actually have to go back and read some of the issues to get a real heading on my current feelings.

There's the utter cruelty of Secret 6 #5 which has delicious reveals on damn near every page. Every panel drips with pain and merciless humor.
I also enjoyed BOP #85. The fight scene between Black Canary and her friends with the Brothers in Silk. Utter insano-kung fu grips! I love rereading that fight over and over again.

It would be a tie either between Agent X or Secret Six, but for the life of me i can not pin it down to a specific issue. Sorry. :frown:

VU was going to be my first choice, but then when I thought about having to pick one of the issues over the others, I just couldn't do it. That mini-series was best taken as a whole and there were moments scattered throughout that could have just as easily jockeyed for my single issue choice.
I must be a lot like you, because BoP #75 was also right at the top of the list for me for some of the same reasons you mentioned, and others here. In the end, I had to go with WW#15 for the reasons listed above.
The thing that makes me most happy about this thread in particular is the opportunity to look at (or re-look at) the current body of Gail's work. I think the picture that emerges for me is a very unique blend of "comic seriousness," the kind of writing that ultimately stands the test of time.
You know the coolest thing? God willing, we're going to have a few more decades of reading Gail's work. That's very exciting to me, because I do believe what we're seeing here is an example of how the cream rises.

I have to go with BOP #57 as it was the first US comic I had bought in years and got me hooked again.
If that book had stunk then I wouldn't have got back into reading comics again. Simple as that really.

Of what I've read, it's tough to pick just one. For now I'm going to go with both the WW issue where Wondy and a bunch of friends take on Genocide at the DMA building, as well as the Deadpool issue guest-starring Dazzler and a very tiny Rhino.

Is that the one about Ma Canary? and how Dinah (jr) got her middle name?
its probably retconned at this point

I always hate answering questions like this because I think of a better answer hours later, but the one that comes to mind right now is Wonder Woman #18. "Yes. There are thorns."
