Dying is NOT a bad thing. Matter of fact, it is essential to completing it.

I really want to play this game, I've heard such good things.
Must sort out that loan from a mate.

[Just the usual RPG advice: Explore everywhere, talk to everyone (including your own party members), pick up anything that isn't nailed down. You're in for a real treat, it's one of the best-written games I've ever played.

I fully agree with this. It is VERY well done, immersive and some of the STRANGEST npcs you will ever encounter. This was a very overlooked gem.

Ask around and see if it is compatible with your OS. I just installed Fallout1 and it automatically installed a much older version of direct x or something which gave my laptop the blue screen of death. I had to reboot my computer five or six times before I could get the system restore function to work before the laptop crashed again. This shouldn't be a problem with games past 1998 or so as they give to the option to decline installing older version of Direct X.

You can download Fallout 1/2 from Good Old Games for cheap, and it'll be fully compatible with modern PCs.

I have both, and they work on my computer which is just over a year old and opperating on Vista.
You should have NO problems with Planescape.

Just be ready for an incredibly detailed game, and make sure to read everything you can. The story might be the best in video game history.

Patches available via sorcerers.net:

You will want to do a ful install. Here's how:

Walkthroughs are available at sorcerer.net above if you get stuck. My one tip is save a hammer and a crowbar in your inventory (or at least in a box you can retrieve them from. You will be needing them.

Two works fine for me as I can avoid the version Direct X is on for Fallout. The first game, despite several attempts, gives my XP laptop the blue screen of death which can only be countered with a System Restore.

Finally got this installed tonight. Very much looking forward to exploring what my mate (who pursued me for two years now arguing I should start playing) insists is the best written game ever.

It is not bad, but please remember the game IS a decade old now, so graphic wise it can not compete. But it was very enjoyable 10 years ago.

Actually, the graphics suit the game very well.

Yes for all the advances in the look of games, personally I'd just prefer a good story.
Plus I'm not much of a gamer anyhow.

The graphics are still pretty dated, compared to even something like Baldur's Gate 2.
But graphics really don't matter much at all with this game. They're able to get across the locations and world to you, and that's good enough.

Baldur's Gate II and Planescape are almost identical visually.
Planescape has much better character designs, though.

Talk to everybody. Really. Even the non-named, non-unique townspeople you wouldn't usually bother with.
Sometimes they give you stuff.

Vista just arbitrarily shut the game down for updates.
Garn! Hate Vista.
Haven't been playing it too long. Still in the Mortuary. I'm impressed by the humour and the level of description. It's fun.
.....now where is that crooked finger bone....
