I saw the third episode in Animax LA the other night, and it seemed really cool. It seemed like a shoot-em-up FMA with a Bogart twist. I read the Wiki article and it seems that I was on the right track but I want to hear fans opinions about it (without spoiling anything).

And a couple of questions
1) How is the anime in comparison with the Manga? Better? Worse? Different?
2) How good is the ending (Without spoiling anything, just yay, okay or meh kinda comments)?

The manga is better IMO than the anime as the anime differs widely from the source material. Haven't seen the ending as I was too put off by the anime to finish it. But I do recommended the manga.

Black Cat was the first manga I read all the way through, and I was not disappointed at all. it was really great. 8D i wouldn't know about the anime, though, so i also reccomend you try the manga (from what i've read on Wikipedia, though, the two are pretty different.)

Most of the characters are more badass and brutal (as in brutal to their enemies) in the manga.

Most Black Cat fans I know prefer the manga to the anime... and the anime is really good, imo.

If you like the anime, I definitely would recommend the manga.

The anime kind of/sort of ends before the last episode - I forget exactly where though. You'll probably know what I'm talking about when you see it, though.

That "ending" (which is where the manga ends off) is really good, I think.

The anime has a few episodes of anime original material afterwards, though. I never bothered to watch those last few episodes myself, so I can't really comment on them.

I'd rather call it "Rurouni Kenshin with guns and super powers," personally. Black Cat borrows a ton of themes from RK, but I think it does it so damn well it's not really worth getting bothered by.

Also, it has a rampaging dinosaur and an evil monkey. That's bonus points for awesome in my book.

Haven't seen the anime, but the manga is one of my all time favorites. It's not revolutionizingly original or anything. but it definitely an entertaining, well made action/adventure manga.

I would call the manga ending "satisfying, but nothing unexpected." Though I'd lie if I said I didn't find it kinda suspenseful anyway.

I haven't finished the anime. But its true when it comes to manga there is a total difference when it became in series. But its ok. Its still good!

One way the anime is different is that it rearranges the time frames of the characters meetings (like having Train still with Chronos when he first meets Sven), so the story and character interactions change as a result. I would personally recommend both since the anime is in a lot of ways like an alternate take on the manga.
