If this is released before D3, I'll very likely cry.

Playable Worgen pretty much means my return to the game after quite a long time away. Do you have to have the Lich King expansion in order to get all you can out of this one?

I'm guessing if you don't install the game you'd still have the regular Azeroth right? That the expansion would introduce phasing to the old areas.

The sundered Azeroth will be available to everyone regardless of whether you have the expansion or not. The world as it currently is is going away for good. However if you don't have the expansion installed, you won't have access to the new zones, new races, and new level cap.

That kinda sucks in a way. I mean, that's going to wipe out a lot of quests. Not like I've played the game since Christmas mind you.

Make leveling interesting again which is probably why they are adding the new classes to the old races. I'm trying to figure out why Taurens would become pallies. I'm guessing this locks out Goblin Engineering to Alliance folks.

Watched Blizzcon for most of the day on the live feed, very interested in this expansion, also Deathwing looks awesome.

If that was the case, horde never should have had access to gnomish engineering.

I'm trying to figure out why Taurens would become pallies.

There are two tauren NPC's in Thunder Bluff who have an interesting conversation hinting at expanding their source of power--mainly about the two eyes of the Earth Mother and how their Night Elf druid counterparts put too much stock in the moon (aka Elune) while neglecting the sun (aka the Light). I'll edit a link once I find it.

EDIT: here it is. The two NPCs are near the druid trainers on Elder Rise.
Aponi Brightmane says: I see that thoughtful frown, Tahu.
Tahu Sagewind says: Sorry, sister. It's nothing to worry about.
Aponi Brightmane says: But something is on your mind, right?
Tahu Sagewind says: I'm thinking about the front to the north. The one you're so eager to return to.
Aponi Brightmane says: What about it?
Tahu Sagewind says: I know I'm counseling patience, Aponi, but I don't like remaining here any more than you do. Times are bleak, and failing to act only makes me worry that my idle hand may have been the one to turn the tide.
Aponi Brightmane says: Talk to me, Tahu. Something. Anything! I'm going stir-crazy.
Tahu Sagewind laughs softly.
Tahu Sagewind says: All right, Aponi. I've enough on my mind to share. Have you ever spoken to the elves of Moonglade?
Aponi Brightmane says: Not much.
Tahu Sagewind says: The elves speak of a moon goddess, did you know? They put great stock in the light given by the moon.
Aponi Brightmane says: Like Mu'sha.
Tahu Sagewind says: Just like her. The parallels I've heard are interesting. And it's no secret all druids, Shu'halo and elf alike, can call upon Mu'sha's light.
Aponi Brightmane says: Where are you going with this?
Tahu Sagewind says: I wonder. Hamuul has guided us well, and I've learned so much from him. The legends say that our people were druids when time began...
Aponi Brightmane says: I hear the "but" in your voice...
Tahu Sagewind says: ...but what Hamuul teaches is what the elves know. The night elves. They put such stock in their moon goddess, as creatures of the night.
Aponi Brightmane says: Do you think his teachings are wrong?
Tahu Sagewind says: No! No, nothing like that. He is an elder for good reason, sister. Mu'sha is one of the Earthmother's eyes, and she watches over us. That isn't sinister.
Tahu Sagewind says: But we're nothing if not people who strive for balance. Our warriors fight only when there is need. Our hunters take only what the tribes require to live, and use all they can when they do. The shaman stand as guide and mediator to the elemental spirits.
Tahu Sagewind says: And while we, as druids, are guardians of nature, I wonder if we've overlooked a key aspect of balance in all things.
Aponi Brightmane says: So are you going to bring this up to the elder?
Tahu Sagewind says: No, no. No need for him to trouble about a student's idle philosophizing while he entertains a friend.
Aponi Brightmane says: I suppose so. It's not silly, though, what you said.
Tahu Sagewind says: Well, it isn't exactly a new thought, sister.

Anyone know if they've listed anything about expanding the number of character slots you can have per realm?

what with all the new class/race combo's I could use a few extra slots.

I don't have a horde engineer so I never even considered that.

It came up in one of the Q&A sessions. They said its something they're considering.

No, it's changing for everyone

Well, looking at some of the vids they are wiping out The Barrens with a cavernous swath of lava. Looking like you will definitely need a flying mount to get around.

A lot of the teen zones are being destroyed so I guess NE are going to go join the Drans and the Orcs and Trolls are going elsewhere too?

So hyped for this.
If you got to, say, outland, it's friggen dead. It's basicly the place people rush their death knights through now. Another new continent would have made northrend and outland dead, as well as the current almost death of the old world.
But now, they are changing it...AND I NEVER HAVE TO FIND MANKRIKS WIFE AGAIN!!!!!
Also, goblin rogue, win.

LOL, i really hope they honor that quest in some fashion. Perhaps a proper grave for her somewhere out there in the new Barrens.

Barrens Chat RIP 2005-2010

I had to chime in here... the barrens in particular..from what i have read, is split into two zones now. One high level and one low level. The low level zone such as Darkshore isn't going away, just that town, they said alliance have set up camp further north. Basically, from what it sounds to me, is Blizz nearly rewrote the whole deal! With the phasing tech coming full time to the game, the world willc hange as you move on through it. ALA Icecrown, or the DK starter area. I for one think the new expansion is great, and will refreash the whole thing for me (been playing since launch). I look forward to all the new things..oh and engineering will not be phased out for gnomes (doing goblin) and vice versa. Besides, in Tanaris, it's a memeber os the Steamweedle cartel that trains you, they are not the goblin faction joining the horde.
Blizz actually said engineering is supposed to get a ton of fun new stuff, and they also said fishing is going to be made more enjoyable (if thats possible) they want to use Animal crossing as a model for thier fishing.

Yeah, I don't believe Barrens chat will be dead. There will still be lowbies in the lower lvl zone to keep the nonsensical conversations alive and well. It's just the fate of our beloved Crossroads that I'm really worried about. I grew up in that town. So many memories there. =( lol

Barrens chat needs to die. It played a major part in my silencing the general chat channel.

This is a reason for me to come back. I'm pretty excited about it... I gotta get my warrior ready for this! I stopped playing at level 72... I was a little overwhelmed by Wrath's vast scope

I had the beta for Wrath and by the time the expansion came out I was well burnt out about it.

hope the alliance doesn't get crossroads.
If they do i hope its run entirely by ne hunters and level 65 death knights.

So either Hillsbrad goes Horde controlled, or Alliance takes Tarren Mill.

I'd really like to see some minor but favorite NPCs (namely, Mankrik and Gamon) go through some development or progression much like Koltira Deathweaver and Drakuru do in the "Wrath of the Lich King" expansion. That would be pretty damn awesome.

I want to see Gamon become like a 90 elite quest giving npc who is standoffsih and snide to the pcs... cuz you know everyone has killed him at least once. Maybe Mankirk become a general or something.

Another prediction.
It is revealed the splitting of the barrens was not caused by Deathwing, but in fact, Saurfang, who is pissed about his son getting offed and thrall never saying he was sorry.
