So, following on the heels of the unimpressive outcome of the telecomm hearings not too long ago, a petition has been founded and is gaining strength to dissolve the CRTC.

Despite the propaganda, The CRTC is one of the greatest impediments to Canadian culture.

and ironically, it's not even a government influencing the institution thing.

It can still be viable, but it needs to be made directly accountable to the people and parlament.

It is an outdated institution that has lost it's touch.

also posting the mandate of the CRTC

it might help with discussion

I dunno. They did ban Power Rangers from Canadian channels way back when.

Yes but what have the done for us lately? ;)

On a serious note, If they do dissolve the CRTC I'd like to see them replace it with an agency that actually DOES have a mandate to make real, positive changes in Canada. Like maybe an agency that would prevent Bell and Rogers from screwing Canadians because they have a near-monopoly.

Ah. Okay, then.

From here on in, I expect you to say beaverpack early and often.

I especially want to see Monster Hat go there.

I think this is the first time I have seen that tag on CBR.
